Im 4 days post op from this surgery... for anyone who is scared, the pain is nothing like having a gallstone attack! I hope this helps and you got this ❤
cried reading this... been to the ER 4 times in 10 days with absolutely excruciating attacks and painkillers have not worked (not even morphine helped enough for me to be able to stand still) i literally cannot eat ANYTHING now so im starving and im nauseous, weak and tired + caught a cold and have a fever :( so im suffering and dont know when i'll get the surgery yet but im so scared of that too ahhh. The ER wouldnt do emergency surgery because it's not inflamed and there are no 'complications' 🥲 finally met a doctor at my assigned healthcare center today that is sending a referral to a specialist hospital for surgery so now i just have to wait... hopefully not for long...
Yes do it as soon as you can all! In just got my done last night through emergency because mine was so inflamed and infected. Now recovery is much worse than normal.
Male 31 here. Had mine out 3 days ago. So far feel sore in abdominal area both near incisions and internally(but much better since day 1). Will update you all in 10 days... Ok so it’s 3 weeks post surgery. Wounds have healed, but obviously still have the marks and still sensitive to touch.. On top I feel fine, but still a bit of soreness and tenderness under the skin where the incisions were made. Other then that I am able to eat most things and thankfully do not feel any digestive discomfort.. Will keep you all posted at the 8-10 week mark. Ok so it’s been a good 5 months post surgery. I believe the surgery was a success and I have recovered. I can eat anything. I no longer feel bloated after eating oily/fatty foods or any food for that matter. I never realised the stones were the reason for so many discomforts after eating or in general (but mainly after eating) such as bloating, pain and discomfort.
Pratiksha Singh mine was laparoscopic surgery. They made 4 keyhole incisions. One near belly button, one just below the chest and two on the right side below the rib cage..gall bladder removal is generally done this way.
Getting mine in a couple weeks. Every comment on the recovery has a different experience. I’ve honestly never been so scared of the surgery until now . Your comment gives me hope . I pray my recovery and anyone who has an upcoming surgery isn’t bad 😔.
All the other docs should pay you for doing their job. Thank you for being so thorough and caring about patient education. You are a rare and excellent doc!!
I’ve never had digestive issues, never had gallbladder attacks, none of these issues run in my family. One day I ate at hooters and got the worst food poisoning I’ve ever had in my 25 years of life...I ended up with Salmonella and due to that, 8 months later I had to have this done. When they went in, my gallbladder was shriveled up like a raisin. They said it was operating at 0% when they did my HIDA scan.... guys I went from operating just fine to a dead gallbladder. We need to be more cautious of the stuff we eat 100%. I’ll never trust anyone fully to cook my food unless I see them prepare it and can monitor the temperatures at which it’s cooking. I’ll also never eat dairy or gluten or processed junk or sugar again lol half because it makes me feel sick to my stomach now and half because I don’t ever want my body to be as compromised as it was when it overloaded my gallbladder. I’m only eating healthy things so that if I get sick like that ever again then my body will be able to bounce back and fight it off. We only have one body and so many organs guys so please be careful with them.
Hey friend 🤗 I wanted to know how is your gut health after surgery? Are you able to eat everything normally? Do you have any digestive or constipation problem post surgery? I am quite nervous about post surgery health..
My daughter had her gallbladder removed about 4 or 5 years ago. She said her body of course had to adjust to certain foods. Because she did end up with diarrhea. She said it took her a year to adjust without her gallbladder.
I had my gallbladder removed yesterday. I’m home now recovering. Thank you for explaining this subject so well. I was concerned about the changes I would have to make. You have put me at ease now.
The changes arent that major just no high fat diets the after after affects are the annoying bit constantly going to the toilet and the heartburn had mine out two weeks ago
@@AaronW-ww4ds So once you have it remove you can't have high fat diets? like keto? After its removed you go lots of heartburn and Toilet visits? No sure if that is what i have but I am getting checked out soon. Did you have yours completely removed? Thanks for clearing that up.
Having surgery in the morning. Say a prayer 🙏❤️.Update...had surgery yesterday morning around 8:00 am and was home by 11:30 am. They put a patch behind my ear because I always vomit after anesthesia. It worked until about 8:30 last night and I vomited quite a bit. Also had a splitting headache until this morning. So far today I’ve only had 1 pain pill. Will take another at bedtime to help with sleep. My stomach feels very bloated today. I didn’t have any shoulder pain like I’ve read others had post surgery. The four incisions are pretty sore today which is to be expected. Thanks Dr for this video. It gave me a clear idea of what happens with the surgery.
Kinda ironic that the run time of this video and the information it contains is about ten times more info than the surgeon who did my surgery shared with me. Would have felt a lot more confident knowing why the surgery was being done if the whole process didn't feel so rushed. This was really great.
Just came across this whilst recouperating from gallbladder removal in the UK. I am the sixth female in my direct family who has had this operation. Trying to sleep is my biggest problem and getting out of bed is very painful. Also the pain in the shoulder the next day was quite something, and I was glad that I knew about that or I would have worried. Day 4 today and I'm definitely on the mend. We are so lucky that surgeons can operate on us with such skill.
Gallbladder pain is too much, I had my gallbladder removed 2 weeks ago here in the UK, Been in A&E couple of times and they only removed mine because its affecting my pancreas
Interestingly, that shoulder pain is a referred pain from the liver / abdomen area, the shoulder itself is actually fine, it's a bunch of nerves in the abdomen firing that cause it. Had it in both shoulders once on another op.
I'm UK and had mine removed Oct 2022 never had any problems with any of that area untill I had massive problems and immediate removal I was in for 5 days as they couldnt get the infection under control
This really is a quite informative video ! I got my GallBladder removed just three days ago, I was back to my home within 24 hours of the surgery. Right now, I am in self Isolation. I also took shower, mopped the floor, did dishes, did the laundry ON MY OWN the very next day of the surgery. why I am writing this is don't think TOO much about the post-op life if you don't have anyone by your side, you just have to be a bit careful about the diet for a couple of days, in my case I have been advised to be on a soft diet for five days. I resumed working from home after three days of my surgery. I am feeling quite normal as I was before except the thing I would feel weakness and drowsiness sometimes. Go and get the damn thing removed if you've been diagnosed with the GallStones! You will eventually become accustomed to a healthy diet, I have seen my mom getting used to that.
Just had mine out, no big deal, little pain a day after but not too bad, I'm 28 and was up walking around 2 hours later, don't worry about it, if you are getting Yours out the pain of an attack is worse then the pain after the surgery
I had my gallbladder removed yesterday 6/28/23 . Worst pain ever I had experienced ! . Now , I am Home from the hospital and the discomfort is more manageable than the actual pain ! . Best of luck for anyone who’s going to be getting their gallbladder out and wish you a speedy recovery ❤️🩹 ❤.
Hey how r you now..? 🙂I am going to go through surgery soon...I want to know ...are you now..able to eat oil and butter and everything else as a healthy person? Do you have any digestive problem or constipation?
@@khushbooyadav9740Since they never replied I’ll reply for you lol. I had my gallbladder removed back in July, and truthfully a week after my surgery I went straight back to eating unhealthy foods like Burger King and haven’t had any complications myself, even now. Only thing I’ve noticed is I’m more likely to have diarrhea, but I’m able to eat everything I used to before.
@@rebekahritz6354 Nah don’t be! There’s nothing much to it really. Like my previous comment mine got removed but nothing has really changed, I barely if at all changed my diet and I’m perfectly fine! You will however be more prone to having diarrhea since the bile will just be leaking into your intestines without a gallbladder to store it. I have 4 small scars on my belly because they did the laparoscopic procedure. Rarely they’ll have to straight up cut you open. I’m sure you’ll be fine!
Hi! Home POD 1 s/p cholecystectomy for hypoactive gallbladder (gallbladder dyskinesia). Had HIDA scan which showed EF of 14%. Ultrasound and 2 CT scans (also done because I am obese and ultrasounds were non optimal studies) showed no stones at all but ? sludging on 1 CT and fatty liver (steatohepatitis). No lab abnormalities whatsoever. I had chronic r subscapular pain, and RUQ and R side discomfort that was constant. I am home now and all my preoperative symptoms are gone. I am hurting less from the laparoscopic cholecystectomy done yesterday, than I was from the preoperative symptoms! Yay! I am waiting for the fun to begin with the new bowel changes! Thought your video was great Dr. Parker! You are performing a valuable service to people and thanks for that! God Bless you Doc!
I'm glad I found this video. This was really insightful. I was just diagnosed with acute cholecystitis but given antibiotics for two weeks. At the time in the hospital, I really didn't want to do the surgery but after seeing this I understand the pros and cons of the surgery and might opt for it. So thank you!
I had my gallbladder removed yesterday at the Ulster hospital in Northern Ireland. After 5 years of pain and agony I'm delighted just watching this procedure and feel blessed its over
I've been suffering severe pain in my upper-right quadrant and epigastric area for the past few days, I have persistent fever and chills as well. Further, I have an unmitigated and irrational fear of surgery, that being said your video really helped me ease that fear, thank you!
Andwyn H T Lay .... don’t worry about the surgery part because you won’t feel it. Just make sure you take care of yourself after the surgery so you recover properly. Good luck 🌺
Ive been having pain in the gallbladder area for about 3 months. Just went in for an ultrasound today to find out whats happening. Get results next week. Pain has been fluctuating between a 2 and 8. Sometimes i feel sick and some back pain. Just worried about surgery. Just wish i knew what was going on inside. If its infected or not?
@@deathbycake7637 ,the pain was minimal and it wasn’t all that bad. The first 24 hours was a bit uncomfortable around where the 4 incisions points, but there was pain medication for that! Gradually felt better day 3-4. I was back to work within a week.
I was so thankful to have finally found a doctor who would listen to me. I've been suffering with this for years and being rushed to the ER so many times and just brushed out because I don't have insurance. I just recently moved to South Carolina and the ER here did my surgery after I had been rushed in twice in one day for an attack that wouldn't stop. I was in the worst pain I'd ever felt and screaming and crying. They got my pain under control and did the surgery the next day.
I was twenty , very slim, and had only had a couple attacks before the last one. They sent me home from emergency three times before getting a specialist and ultrasound to find what was going on and was sent up for emergency surgery. I was throwing up lots of bile, in horrid pain, it took days to recover in the hospital . They had to put a drain in to clean everything out. Doctor told me it could have killed me if I’d gone much longer. Emergency people thought I was too young and too thin to have gallbladder issues and thought I just wanted drugs.
Suffering about 8 years. I'd get the pain in my right shoulder blade and feel sick. So I'd take to the bed, sleep it off and wake up fine. That was good for 7 years until last year! I got an attack and the pain didn't go away! I went to hospital and was sent home with antibiotics and painkillers. But by the weekend I was vomiting and not keeping anything down, not even water. So I was admitted to hospital. Then I had an ERCP and suffered internal bleeding from that and nearly died. I lost 2lts of blood and didn't know it until I collapsed at home. I got a transfusion and all is good now. So I was nervous when I got the call to come in to have it removed 2 days ago (2nd March 2021) on my birthday too! Now I understand why the incision near my belly button hurts the most. Thanks for the video. I vaguely remember my surgeon saying it was a success but I must have been enjoying the anesthetic too much. I was meant to be a day case but they couldn't wake me enough to go home safely, so I had to stay over for 1 night. 2 days now after the surgery and so far so good. My bellybutton incision feels like a bad bruise, but I've no pain in the other incisions. I'm also coughing up a little phlegm and have a sore throat and I'm guessing that's from the breathing tube.
I have gallstones. I'm recommended gallbladder surgery and I was worried about the surgery but this put me at ease. I have limited to my diet to only salads at this point it hurts so much. I've been worried about the changes I have to make in my life due to having the surgery. Thank you for explaining this to me so well and helping me understand a little better
@@Useruser-hz5uj actually I had to gave it removed or it would've ended my life. I have no issue with my stool if I eat super greasy fat foods then I'll have the runs. So need to worry I'm 100% okay
I was in the exact situation as you. At some point i did not eat for two days because I was worried of the attack. Trust. Me. Have the surgery. Its safe and ull feel 100% better. Im one week post op. Already feeling myself again and not scared of the attacks anymore!
Watching this video helped me thru my surgery. I had the surgery on Thursday morning 9/17. My wife said the surgery took 1 hour and 30 minutes due to I had a very large stone in there. I cannot phrase the doctor enough, she did a superb job. Minimal incisions and today the pain is very minimal. Today Day 2 - I have been able to walk around and have been eating rice porridge (my wife spoils me lol) and non-salt crackers. I am still sleeping almost upright with 3 pillows because laying down flat still hurts. Loved reading the comments here and enjoyed sharing my experience with you all.
Getting my gallbladder out on August 27, kind of scared especially after watching a few videos. I've already had 2 surgeries done(tubal ligation & hernia). My insides felt they had been ripped, I can only imagine what this will feel like
got mine taken out 7 years ago, and let me tell you the pain before getting it taken out, was just down right excruciating. mine led to chronic pancreatitis. i was in the hospital for a week and a half and was extremely ill, white as a ghost puking up, and at times just puking nothing from pain. after tho omg so much better.
Had mine removed 2 weeks ago. Mine was an infected dead gallbladder. Worst pain I’ve ever experienced. Ended up in ER twice. Was on major antibiotics before and after surgery. Doing good now, still get tired easily, but a little better each day.
@@billdivine9501 Lucky you..Im going 1 year and 3 months and they don't want to do surgery on me due to my obesity and I feel like my GB is about to become infected.I also am getting frequent Kidney infections after a GB attack.. I will bring this up to my doctor next appointment. I heard like majority of the people all have diarrhea alike symptoms that takes like 4-5 years for the body to adjust.
@@Eros13adios Sorry to hear that. Have you tried any of the natural gallbladder cleanse things? There’s a bunch out there I hear, but by the time I started having attacks with zero onset warnings, it was too late for me, it was removed in about a week. Surgeon said it was the worst one he’d seen, and because of the infection that ended up in my blood, if I were older, like in my 70s he said I likely wouldn’t have survived.
@@billdivine9501 Yes, the only reason to remove it is if GB does get infected, then they have no option but to remove it. Also, I only have 2 small Gallstones and it seems they want me to naturally dissolve/passed them. So im going to wait, but im open and wont mind getting it removed.. I will need to talk to my doctor very soon.
Dr. , You are on point with the symptoms I have! I'm seeing my doctor now. LOVE how you explain the truth of understanding what patients may not be able to explain. Thank U!🙏
I had my gallbladder taken out 2 years ago. Mine was outpatient. While I was in surgery, they found out mine was so badly infected that it came apart while they were pulling it out. So they had to widen my belly-button incision to get it out fully. I was given oral antibiotics, and sent home a couple hours later. I apparently had an extra connection to my gallbladder, so my pain was in a different spot than normal. For that reason, doctors didn't listen to me, for almost 8 years, when I said I was in pain. I will forever be grateful to that Nurse Practitioner for actually listening to me! And taking me seriously!
I had two doctors tell me I was fine and the second one send he would book me an ultrasound scan if I wanted. Good think I kept pursuing this issue. If I went off of the doctors advice who knows where I would be in the future. How are you since the operation?
@@mariemyers6747 i got mine removed 7 years ago, and i was up and moving the next day, i was laid out the night from the local anesthetic. but other then that within 3 days i was going on long walks, and was completely pain free.
Thank you so much for doing this video. I'm having this surgery in a few days, and I've been nervous about it. Your thorough explanations of everything really helped put my mind at ease.
Of all the TH-cam videos on this topic, this was the most informative. I had gallbladder surgery recently and all went fine. I was looking for post op diet info when I came across this video. Mine was done laparoscopically and was in and out the same morning. this was my third scope outpatient procedure I've had over the past 20 years. The previous procedures were for sport injuries. For all suffering pain from gallstones don't put off the recommended surgery. You will be glad you had it done.
jgolfer49 Hey there! Thanks for sharing! I have to have this procedure as well. How much pain did you have after surgery? Also, did you find a good post-op diet?
Post op went like clockwork. No internal pain from having an internal organ removed. Just some manageable pain on a couple of incision points. Belly button incision was bit sore. Be careful not to reach or stretch too far or you'll definitely feel it. Took two Tylenol twice a day for first couple of days. Didn't need any prescription meds. When I got home just had soup and crackers first day and pretty much sandwiches and salads the first couple of days. I enjoy chicken so had plenty of chicken. It's been 10 days since surgery and haven't had any craving for red meat so that's a good thing. One of the side effects they said may occur would be diarrhea but have not experienced that.pretty much normal bowel movements so far. Hope this helps and good luck.
Just had my gallbladder removed two weeks ago. I feel so much better. Had no idea the back pain I was having and reaction after eating dairy was my gallbladder.
@lyndsieMiles What kind of back pain did u have? I just had my gallbladder removed last week. My back pain has taken a back seat compared to my post surgery pain. I thought it was odd that my lumbar spine wasn't bothering me as much. Glad u r feeling better.
Thank you for posting this video Doc. I am in the hospital as I type this and have a much better understanding of what is going on, and less fear of the unknown.
Had mine removed 2 days ago and I’m in quite a bit of pain still but I wanted to come home ASAP to my 6 week old baby. Reading some stories here gives me hope for the next few days of pain.
Am watching this as my daughter is having an emergent cholecystectomy. She had a 2cm stone in the gallbladder; your video helped me visualize what was happening and how they were correcting. Thanks for helping this mom feel confident in my daughter being well cared for.
How is she doing now? I’ve had a 2cm stone for several years. Minimal symptoms, but thinking about getting the surgery now so I can stop stressing about it.
Had mine out yesterday. I’m 50yr old female, overweight by 4 stone due to needing steroids last 2 yrs. At home now, pain is 5/10. Take those painkillers every 4 hrs!! Coughing up a lot of lung mucus, painful throat. Getting a little chest pains. So glad I’ve had the operation though. Xx
I just had mine removed this yesterday, I am in a bit of pain, hopefully it will go away, I also look like I am 5 months pregnant 🤰 lol. I am glad I have people here telling their stories. I know it’s a common procedure but it hard not to you know, help a bit blah after a surgery. Very well explained video Dr. I love how you took the time to make the graphics very neat. 👍🏼👍🏼. If I were in the medical field, I like to have you as my professor. You seem to explain and take the time and it’s great. Plus I think it makes people learn faster. Thank you
I just had my Lap Chole last week and now recovering. my doctor advised the same thing about my diet, no changes to it, but of course, everything has to be in moderation and not abuse your body.
I just had emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder. Last year, my wife had a planned surgery to remove her endangered gallbladder. I was in the hospital recovering for a week. Lost 30 lbs, and still have a tube draining material from my insides. My wife had a day surgery. Went home that afternoon. Recovered quickly. Moral, treat the problem before the problem treats you.
@@tonysoprano9370 If you read what he said he said his wife planned the surgery to remove the endangered gallbladder and he had to have emergency surgery which means he was in excruciating pain. Plenty of people have minor pains that are tolerable that don't require emergency surgery and therefore they can plan to have that surgery later down the line. You don't have to be in excruciating pain for a doctor to recommend that you have your gallbladder removed. They can see that you have gall stones and say you may not feel anything now but later on you will feel pain and will need surgery.
True,I’am getting mine out this June 4th I don’t have any stones but I’am having symptoms of it going bad so I’am getting mine out before it gets worse my surgeon didn’t tell Me to get it out I told him that I told him to take it out.
It is normal to have weird and a slight fearful feeling to any of us humans who will be undergoing any surgery, but after watching this video it made my mind more peacefully with whisper’s smile. In about couple of hours from now, I may be in the OR to undergo laparoscopic surgery. So stay tune.. I’ll keep you posted after the surgery😅
I had my gallbladder removed about 20 years ago. They did the micro surgery. It did wonders, but i began with gassy digestion issues. I cannot digest fatty foods qnd such properly anymore. I learned to burp my heart and bloated tummy out. Quite an entertaining skill. Still better than worrying about exploding gallbladders and the pain of gallstones.
Just had mine removed 2 weeks ago on an emergency basis. There was pain after the surgery but it wasn’t so bad I didn’t need narcotics for pain. It was bearable pain. So glad it’s out! Recovery was difficult for a month. Then back to normal. If I could go back in time, I would have had the surgery where there are no incisions only go through the bellybutton. Mine was done as an emergency surgery dont be afraid!
I just had my surgery consultation and I have surgery on Dec 27. Not really nervous. Just glad to finally have no more gallbladder pain. I have been having the upper middle abdominal pains right below the sternum. I completely concur with the whole can't breathe scenario. I woke up last Friday at about 1 AM and was in so much pain that my wife had to take me to the hospital. They gave me some morphine and did another ultrasound and the Doc said the stone was pretty big and I needed to have my gallbladder removed. My surgeon has done 3-400 surgeries so I'm good with him. Will keep you all posted!
I had mine taken out 2 days ago. The pain of the surgery is tolerable compared to gallstone attacks. I can at least find a position where I'm comfortable. Ice packs help a lot and obviously painkillers. Still healing inside so I have abdomen pain, but I'm also relieved from my gallbladder symptoms I could tell immediately. I was anxious about the anesthesia but that was the easiest part. You seem confident already, but good luck.
@John Doe Yup, the pain is horrible. Worse than kidney stones for me. Don't believe these horror story comments. My surgery was a month ago and I feel great, and I can eat anything I want. The first few days suck, mostly getting in and out of bed, but after that you feel better every day.
I was referred today and I'm getting the surgery very soon apparently. The surgeon was all like "oh you know nothing about what the surgery is haha don't worry you don't need to know" because I'm 13 and he thinks I'm fucking stupid
I’m literally in the hospital ward right now with this surgery proposed. You explained it so much better. Visual aid really helps. I understand why they do it but doctors, please, when asking the patient if they have any questions….. it’s difficult to know what to ask if you lack the knowledge of what to ask and you don’t want to hold a doctor up throwing questions like darts hoping you ask the right question. Have some common questions to suggest.
I am 65 and just had my gall bladder removed due to gangrene and infection. This was very helpful - I want to eat right going forward. I have had to change my diet twice before for a heart stint and then diabetes. Thank you for your info on the surgery - I was not in a mental state to understand anything but that they were taking it out.
Beauty&Flaws it went really well, they kept him in over night. He didn’t have any heavy pain meds after the surgery. I had to keep reminding him that he had an organ removed to get him to take it easy.
had mine out two days ago after the worst pain i have ever had (and I have had two large babies). The pancreatitis was the pain that made me say, kill me, i do not want to live!!!. this surgery was fast and i felt immediate relief when it was over. The pressure and pain from the pancreatitis was the worst!!! 80% of my hospital stay was to let me pancreas rest and get well enough to have the gallbladder removed. I am home now and am on the mend. This was an excellent video about gallbladder surgery.
U don't need it otherwise they wouldn't remove it my mums getting hers out tomorrow I can't sleep a wink it's currently 3am doubt I'm going to sleep untill I hear an update on how she is doing
Ok everyone, so today I got my surgery for my gallbladder. Took about an hour for the surgery, and hour in recovery room and then sent home with pain medication if needed. So far the pain is bearable, but my only issue is laying on my right side and breathing ( not surprising since the surgery was located to the right ) will keep updated 100% on the process of healing and how long it takes. Hope everyone goes through speedy recovery ! (It’s been 12 hours when I had the surgery and when I posted this comment)
Thank you for this video, Just had my gallbladder taken out 10-12-2021. Was so happy to find this video, thank you for explaining it so well. Had so many questions and I feel most if not all were answered and I feel a bit more at ease knowing I will be ok. Thank you
Excellent video, first explanation I've come across that is actually detailed and down to earth. Am having surgery in 10days, put down a hell of a night again last night, was rushed into hospital by ambulance 2 months ago because of gallbladder, should have had it out then.. Anyhoo thanks for a real life explanation.
Had this done a week ago. Op went smoothly, in and out relatively quickly. Bit of pain and bloated belly for the first few days, just easing now. Had the laparoscopic op.
I had emergency surgery 7 days ago to remove my gall bladder. I woke up thinking I was having another heart attack and after x-rays, CT and ultrasound I was rushed into surgery to rid me of this infected little beast. I had ZERO SYMPTOMS until the morning I thought it was actually a heart attack. Recovering nicely and greatful the outcome has been good.
i wish mine was like that, for 3 years they kept telling me it was acid reflux, then i went in puking blood, and that's when they finally did something.
@Dianne Lo mine wasn't so much from anything i ate tho, mine was from how bad the pain would get. also the time i went in puking blood, the gal bladder attack, caused an acute case of pancreatitis.
Ran up on your video and decided to watch. Today is 06-17- 21. I had my gallbladder removed 06-05-21. In my 47 yrs I've never had a problem with my health 🙏. This year I've had pain in the coars of a month right in the center of my chest 2 mild pains and 3 severe ones. Went twice to the hospital and they told me I had stones the first time. After two weeks I ended up in the hospital again and this time they didn't see stones. Don't know where they went. Anyway they ended removing my gallbladder through my bellybutton that's the only incision the surgeon made. After I woke up I was in pain not by the surgery but the GAS they fill you up to get inside. Nurses had me walking so the gas comes out. As of now I can move better and pain free but still taking my precautions. Thanks to surgeon Gabrawski he did an excellent performance my bellybutton is healing nice and I get to eat my favorite foods again but now I eat in moderation 😀.
@@barbaraholmes8590 Thanks but if I knew they were not letting me go home that same day maybe I would of, they kept me in. Thank God everything is over now I'm doing wonderful. Sharing is knowledge ☺️ I can let someone else know.
I had mine removed last week and got curious about what tf happened cause my surgeon told me nothing at all. I'm watching all these videos now like, "so that's what they did!"
Got mine out earlier this year, like in February. I had the colic pains, and my sister had hers out years ago, knew the symptoms, and got me some help right away. Mine was not infected, and the Laparoscopic cholecystectomy, and it was pretty straightforward. I was off work for a week, but having been overweight, that was a wake-up call. I lost roughly 30 lbs. with Weight Watchers. I don't eat much red meat, and I get chicken, seafood, and veggies, Almond milk, the good stuff.
This is a spot on explanation, I had my gall bladder removed last 11.7.18 so basically I'm over a week of recovery. I'm back to normal up and about but occasionally some shooting pain and I think its because of the bruising inside. I can lift my 6 months baby but it still hurts a little bit,I have experienced diarrhea, though I only eat light food for 2 weeks. Then hopefully in full recovery.
I just had my gallbladder removed yesterday. Day 2 and still super sore. My husband thankfully took off a week to help me around. I'm hoping for a speedy recovery. Till then, water and plenty of rest. What they don't tell you post-op is if you have a catheter in, prepare for the burning and pressure every time you pee. I learned that the hard way. I was drinking a lot of apple juice since it's good for the gallbladder (when I gad one) and let me tell ya....BAD IDEA! it's like acid. So drink plenty of water. The more diluted ur urine is, will stop the burning. Just a heads up to anyone who hasn't had the surgery yet. Thanks for this video. My surgeon said he fixed my bellybutton...idk what that means. 😂. I had 2 c sections and ab separation, so I'm not sure if he fixed it because he messed it up or he fixed my post partum saggy bellybutton 😂😂 either way, cool. One more thing....is it just me or did anyone else lose time when they went into the prep room? I was talking with the anesthesiologist and nurses. They injected me with green dye (half) and put a hair cap on me. That's all I remember. I don't remember going to the operating room or being put under. Is that normal? I feel like they had to have put something in my IV beforehand because it's literally a big blank. I don't remember anything past talking to the nurses. Anyone else?
I’m a 43 year old male in solid physical shape but I barfed my guts out and had those horrible spasms for 6 plus hours yesterday. It’s my first attack in like a year as I’ve been careful about my diet. I ate a mango and an ice cream shake and it became horrible. I don’t want surgery in general but if I get another unprovoked attack I’m going to have to listen to my wife and get my guts yanked out
I had a friend who had her gall bladder removed she said it became difficult to lose weight after surgery. Years after I had mine removed I also have a difficult time losing weight which is very unfortunate since I love working out regularly and eating rather healthy
I was scared of that happening but since I have had mine removed, I feel it’s so much easier to lose weight. I had my surgery a month ago and have lost 15 pounds after all the water weight from the IV antibiotics. I have lost a pound a day not eating fats, no dairy, no alcohol nor coffee. I feel really good.
Thank you for more detailed explanation of the surgery! I just had mine removed and when I went to the hospital didn't realize how serious it became....I had 3 attacks over a year and the doctors found it got the point it was affecting my liver and pancreas.😮 I had enough of pain and was ready have it removed, greatful got it done.😁
Had my gall bladder mins removed 4 days ago,key hole surgery,The surgeon came to my recovery room telling me how difficult it was getting it out .I have had inflammation in the past ,and was hospitalised treated with antibiotics. I am healing well and looking forward new life with it.
Just had my gallbladder removed a week and a half ago. They found it was full of stones, looking at something else. I’ve never had any pains or attacks. My stones are pigmented stones caused my history with Sickle Cell Anemia. I’ve never had pain or an attack in my gallbladder. I eat healthy and I have eaten this way for the majority of my life, so I’m glad they found it!!! I probably would’ve have never felt it, until it ruptured or something!!! I can’t wait to get back in the gym, a month is going to feel like foreverrrrrrr!!
I had an endoscopy last June coz 2 stones blocked in my bile duct... After a month i removed about 30 stones thru flushing.. I thought its gonna be alright then, but pain still attacking so i decided to do the surgery ... last week i just had the lap chole, and thanks God finally it's done...
To anyone watching this that has gallstones such as myself, The research is starting to show that fat is not the cause of gallstones but rather lack of fat in your diet. I always ate low fat when I was younger and had gallstones when I turned 31. they wanted to remove my gallbladder but I opted to have the stones broken up. After changing my diet and doing keto for a year (which wasn't hard to do and made me feel the best I have ever felt) I now have 0 gallstones and have not had issues for 3 years. The gallbladder has 2 jobs, 1. Store bile to help digest fats, & 2. concentrate the bile. when you do not eat fat the gallbladder does not release bile thus it keeps concentrating it, this can cause gallstones to precipitate out of the bile. But don't take my word for it. do your own research and talk to your doctor. surgery may be your best option but make sure you consider all of your options.
I had my check-up today for my stomach pain and this is the findings of the doctor. He told me to have this laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgery. So I plan to have this next week. Thanks for this clear explanation on what is going to happen during and after the surgery. This video is a big help. Thanks and God bless Doc.
It wouldnt be done within a week theyll shove you on a week of two strong antibiotics to make sure the gallbladder isnt infected and that the inflammation is gone its also usually done within a month since a week of them then week after youll have the pre op and within the next 4 weeks after the pre op youll have the surgery as surgery will not go ahead if the inflammtion ad infection hasnt cleared as it causes complications which will turn key hole surgery into open surgery
Thank you, Dr. Parker! I had my gallbladder removed earlier today! I'm so happy I listened to my surgeon and got it out ASAP! I had no idea it was the cause of so many crappy symptoms I was experiencing. Your video was informative and easy to follow! I really appreciate you!
@N0cturnalz My surgery when we'll. Recovering was hard on me. But I'm a year post opp. Doing my best to eat healthy and drink plenty of water. Thanks for asking.
Great video I wish I had seen this before my surgery and gallbladder removal. I had a gangrenous gallbladder and was not aware until post surgery. Getting it brought relief and the post op pain was nothing like the pain associated a gallbladder attack
I just had mine done 7 days ago. Since the procedure, I've had 2 "phantom" attacks. Today I had nausea and intense cramping in the upper abdomen. I actually had to pull over and open the car door. Then it passed and I was perfectly fine. I hope this doesn't get to be a habit.
I have surgery Friday 2/26/2021 I’m excited because I will change my diet it’s gonna force me to change my diet not only will I lose weight but then the pain will be gone so for that I’m excited
I had the laparoscopic removal f my diseased gall bladder. At the time, a cardiologist said I have a myocardial infarction or MI that placed me in a 'stroke' category. I always and still believe that it was a gall bladder attach. That cardiologist just wanted me to get an angioplasty and when I finally did a month later it proved that I didn't need stents, like he said I needed. I've been squeamish about those kinds of docs since. I've had siblings who experienced the gall bladder removal surgery before, so I knew what it was, but as always, I was told, doctor knows best. And that really bugs me. I'm glad I got my diseased gall bladder removed, but why did a cardiologist have to insist that the pain I was experiencing was due to an MI?! I will always believe that it was a gall bladder attach and since it's been removed, I've never had a problem since. I just watch my fat intake (and I really don't like deep fried food anymore anyway) because now I know I only have my liver doing all the heavy lifting my gall bladder used to do. But thanks for sharing.
I Had to have emergency gall bladder removal recently due to (acute) terrible infection, even when the antibiotics started kicking in I was still dry heaving and no way I could eat. 2 hours after surgery I was walking and eating felt like a million bucks, and 4 hours after surgery I went home and relaxed in the hot tub. besides cost I can't see a reason to wait to have this surgery other than constraints of the surgeons schedule, it's a piece of cake surgery, I have virtually no pain, i walked 5 miles the very next day took one prescribed pain pill. Residual gas trapped in the abdomen is the worst side effect.
Excellent explanation, I get mine out in a few days. Had bariatric surgery last year and developed the stones a few months back, strange that abrupt weight loss coupled with major dietary changes could produce this, but it happens.
Same here but in my case I had found gallbladder stoned just after 3 months of bariatric surgery size one is 13 mm second one is 15 mm Dr said to me they might be there before surgery now I am very confused if they were there before why they didn't do my ultrasound and told me before surgery is it a medical negligence what should I do now another surgeon's are saying go for surgery as soon as possible my surgeon asked me to wait for one year as I am recovering from bariatric surgery just 4 months ago pls help and reply
The problem with biliary colic is that it tends to hit only once in a while and so by the time you've forgotten how bad the last attack was ("oh I can survive this!") it comes back with a vengeance all of a sudden.
That's how mine was. It hit me out of nowhere for a few hours 6 nights in a row but then I'd wake up feeling fine and think "well, that sucked." Go about my day forgetting about it then it would hit again 24 hours later with no apparent trigger. After a week of trying to suck it up I went to the ER and left the hospital 3 days later without a gallbladder lol.
@@Divya_86 Thanks and you too! Glad you decided to take care of it. Recovery depends on the person but should be ok. My surgery was 10 days ago on March 30 and the first 5 days were rough. I actually finished my last prescribed pain pill yesterday so we'll see.
Great video Dr. Parker. I am now just under 24 hours post-op after emergency gall bladder removal for Acute Cholecystitis. Never had an issue before until two nights ago started experiencing discomfort in the upper right abdominal region which intensified over 3 hours and led to multiple rounds of vomiting and pain beyond belief. Decided to go to the ER and of course sat there for several hours in the waiting room. During my time in the waiting room, the pain went away completely but they had already put in an IV and drawn labs while I waited for a ER room. I had considered just leaving but my wife insisted I find out what was going on and she was right. Once back in the ER they did an ultra sound and found that I had numerous stones and was infected which was confirmed by the elevated white cell count. They admitted me and at noon the next day I was in surgery. Do not be afraid of the surgery, it is a piece of cake. I am the biggest chicken there is and literally it was no big deal. Post op in the room I felt great and was up moving around with no pain. I was discharged 5 hours later. At home, my first meal was take out Chinese and it was great. Throughout the night though, my body started reminding me that it had been put through a traumatic event and I should take it easy. I slept well last night except when I tried to roll onto my side. Don’t do that! Today, I am sore throughout my abdomen and the only place I have much pain at all is the belly button region only when using my abdominal muscles to stand. I am experiencing right shoulder discomfort from the the CO2 they use to inflate you for the surgery but that should go away within 48 hours. I do have a slight post-operative fever of 99 but I understand that is to be expected too. I have not taken any prescription pain medication, only ibuprofen. Overall, I am so glad to have this behind me and not have to worry about another episode. The pain of the flare up was way way worse than the surgery. I was nervous and scared but this was really easy. Don’t chance it with your gallbladder, there are much worse things that can happen when you have stones that could even lead to life threatening conditions. Just get it out and be done with it. Hope this helps someone out there.
Amazing video, but for the diet part- 100% recommend a change. What caused the stone was your diet, so if you don’t change, the damage will just migrate to your liver, or pancreas or develop other diet related diseases like diabetes.
Diet change ....... well yes! In reality, about 98% of the population needs to radically change their diet (& lifestyle) in order to be (truly) healthy. Very few truly knows what healthy to consume & what's toxic, but noone wants to take responsibility for their health by doing the research. Everyone wants to do what is easiest & following the mainstream/ mainline way of thinking & FALSELY believe that corporations & government have our best interests at heart. WRONG! They do not!! Be your own advocate & have some common sense! You wouldnt put crap in your car as fuel cuz you know it would destroy it, but people consistantly put toxins in their bodies & then wonder why they get sick or end up with a lethal disease.
my diet changed big time after my surgery, high fat foods would cause me massive pain, my liver and my gul bladder both hurt if i ate high fat foods, now i cut them out and i have the odd pain but for the most part i feel great.
I had mine removed on January 18th 2024..i had an 18mm stone inside..they made 4 x incisions..sent me home same day..the pain was not bad compared to the pain of the attacks ...my bellybutton got septic 1 week after so was put on antibiotics..im ok now and its only nearly 4 months..just dont lift anything you will be fine ..thanks for the video
@@fizaakashif4720 I tried homeopathy. It was a bad idea. I had an infection having it. Ist month of homeopathy didn't cause any trouble to me but when I started 2nd month it was awful pain everytime I used to take the medicine.
I had mine removed almost 3 years ago. First 6 months was all good and normal like nothing has happened. But after that, the problems start. Bloating, diarrhea, constipation, dark green stool, stomach cramp, my entire digestive system is affected, not to mention the consequencesof that..... I wanted to save my gallbladder and asking to break or just remove the stones, but surgeon told me that the gallbladder was useless and it doesn't matter its removed. I was in great pain and didn't realise the long term problems associated without the gallbladder. All organs have purpose and vital to our health, the doctors may not realise yet.
Im 4 days post op from this surgery... for anyone who is scared, the pain is nothing like having a gallstone attack! I hope this helps and you got this ❤
I go and talk to a surgeon November 16th to talk about surgery
Thank you. I am scared but you have allowed me to feel more relaxed. 😘. Hope you are doing well 🌹
Just had it 4 days ago THE MOST PAIN I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED
cried reading this... been to the ER 4 times in 10 days with absolutely excruciating attacks and painkillers have not worked (not even morphine helped enough for me to be able to stand still) i literally cannot eat ANYTHING now so im starving and im nauseous, weak and tired + caught a cold and have a fever :( so im suffering and dont know when i'll get the surgery yet but im so scared of that too ahhh.
Which surgery was your's open surgery or laproscopic surgury plz reply must
Pratiksha Singh mine was laparoscopic surgery. They made 4 keyhole incisions. One near belly button, one just below the chest and two on the right side below the rib cage..gall bladder removal is generally done this way.
@@ChasinOneTwelve was the belly button incision IN the belly button or below?
Mica hi, belly button incision was made just above the belly button. Small horizontal incision.

Great information, I may end up having to have mine out…thank you
Having surgery in the morning.
OMG , I thought I was going to die from those gas pains especially in my right shoulder. Just had mine done a wk ago.
Does this surgery affect kidneys later in life?
I’m on day 2 and I don’t know how you did this. I can barely get out of bed.
Just had mine out, no big deal, little pain a day after but not too bad, I'm 28 and was up walking around 2 hours later, don't worry about it, if you are getting Yours out the pain of an attack is worse then the pain after the surgery
Amen!!!!

I have to get mine removed. I am so scared.

I am 33 year ashtama pateint and have gall stone. Is this surgery life threating
Yes, the only reason to remove it is if GB does get infected, then they have no option but to remove it.
Thank U!🙏
Doctor: Just had the lypo gallbladder operation and doing great....Thanks for your explanation of the procedure...!!
I'm 27 and I had it removed Monday. Was able to walk around the same day, got released Tuesday, and by Wednesday no more pain. It's Thursday.
How r u now
Yes! Please update in 6 months. Thanks!
I'm 27 too. And I am nervous of having surgery.
Did you get tested for covid 19 as well?

Am watching this as my daughter is having an emergent cholecystectomy. She had a 2cm stone in the gallbladder; your video helped me visualize what was happening and how they were correcting. Thanks for helping this mom feel confident in my daughter being well cared for.
That’s a huge gallstone!😳
I also had a 2cm stone and it was sooo painful. I just got the surgery and feeling much better.

Getting mine out in a couple days- thankfully my doctor went over all of this but I'm thankful for this refresher 🙏
Thank you
I had did 2016 now fatty liver
Why would your wife have her gallbladder removed if it didn’t need removal?

Update?
I had my gallbladder removed about 20 years ago. They did the micro surgery.
It did wonders, but i began with gassy digestion issues. I cannot digest fatty foods qnd such properly anymore. I learned to burp my heart and bloated tummy out. Quite an entertaining skill.
Still better than worrying about exploding gallbladders and the pain of gallstones.
take ox bile supplements and probiotics
My friend, your words are encouraging. I'm tired of the symptoms and pain. So the surgery seems easy. Rest well and Merry Christmas!
@@JosephDuneganhow'd it go btw?

2 months later and definitely feel better. Have some watery stool here and there but definitely getting better over the months.
Did you take antibiotics after surgery?

Thank you for putting my mind at ease. I am having mine removed next month and I've been having so much anxiety over it.
The day before an operation start taking activated charcoal, it helps absorb the gas.
@@barbaraholmes8590 Thanks but if I knew they were not letting me go home that same day maybe I would of, they kept me in. Thank God everything is over now I'm doing wonderful. Sharing is knowledge ☺️ I can let someone else know.

My surgery is in a few hours and this has put me at such ease. Thank you!
Just had my gallbladder removed yesterday. Now I’m here watching so many videos on what they did
Same here
I had mine removed last week and got curious about what tf happened cause my surgeon told me nothing at all.
Grey Doll Are you doing better?
Update?
Dudeeeee same! I had my surgery on the 2nd and I swear I’m missing time!

You have a way of making me laugh at normally fearful things. Thank you Doc.

Richelle Llorente update please?
It wouldnt be done within a week theyll shove you on a week of two strong antibiotics to make sure the gallbladder isnt infected and that the inflammation is gone its also usually done within a month since a week of them then week after youll have the pre op and within the next 4 weeks after the pre op youll have the surgery as surgery will not go ahead if the inflammtion ad infection hasnt cleared as it causes complications which will turn key hole surgery into open surgery

I have surgery in a week and this was the best video ever
That's exactly how I treat it😅
Exactly same here
That's how mine was.

How are you?
I mean not if they were developed if you were pregnant js
@Dianne Lo nope i hardly ever use any kind of salt.
I guess I am unusual. I had gallstones and my diet is no alcohol, no processed food, little fat, no sodas, mostly vegeterian.
Male 69, thanks for the gallbladder procedure explanation. I'm 5 days out post-surgery and doing well.
I've lost all signs of Appétit.. and it's the weirdest feeling ever since I've never gone a day without being some kind of hungry

@@fizaakashif4720 I tried homeopathy. It was a bad idea. I had an infection having it. Ist month of homeopathy didn't cause any trouble to me but when I started 2nd month it was awful pain everytime I used to take the medicine.
I just had mine done, and almost popped a stitch! 😝
Beet Flow saved me from surgery. I'm so thankful.
I was 13 years old when I had my gallbladder removed...I'm now 68. Back then it was a big deal. My incision had 28 stitches.
how is life without a gallbladder?
I wish you can talk a bit more about life without a gallbladder. I am scared of going through it.
I am having surgery in two days. Thank you for this wonderful explanation doc. Much appreciated
Are you better now? I hope so.
