I bawled my eyes out.. I see this video as a talent show and nobody is her friend and they hear her sing and they are shocked... I love Tamyra...... Love you gurl!
Just incredible ! I discovered that 2 days ago and I'm glad I did. I cried like a little baby after hearing the rendition. I'm becoming a big fan of hers now.
Amazing voice!! Tamyra is very talented. Clearly this is better than the versions done by Jennifer, Beyonce, Jordin, Ashanti and Monica (All Amazing Vocalists). RIP Whitney!!
She's so good I thought she was lip-syncing at first! Wow! If that was her voice, she's amazing. If I hadn't heard Whitney first I wouldn't have doubted. I still love Whitney's version, but Tamyra is wonderful too. I hope she will use her God-given talent to give Him Glory and have a better life.
i think whitney houston sang this song the best. coming a very close second best is tamyra gray. i think the first time i heard a bit of this song was from a commercial on tv about graduation - maybe high school graduation back in june 2002. it was sung by whitney houston. I got goosebumps. the first time i heard the whole entire song was back in summer 2004 maybe july 2004. i was watching boston public and tamyra gray sang this song at the end of the episode. i got goosebumps. i am pretty sure the tuberculosis gives me more goosebumps and emotional than i was already am when i heard this song. What an emotional song it is and tamyra gray has an amazing voice. This past few years looking back, i think tamyra gray should have won american idol on the first season because she deserves it. She has a great voice while Kelly Clarkson voice is just very good. I remember back in either late 2002 or in 2003, my middle brother said that the public thinks tamyra should have won American Idol instead of kelly Clarkson because she sings better than kelly. But most people voted Kelly through because she's white and Tamyra is black. And America is predominately white. That's why. That time, i was indifference because my ears couldn't tell the difference between good and great singers or kind of bad singers that sing out of tune. Until I heard this song on boston public and i thought wow tamyra has a great voice. I suppose after season 1 of American idol, Americans are ready and comfortable to vote for a black contestant as a winner of american idol for season 2.
Go listen to maKe Wyatt sing it. This young lady is ok....but she is no Whitney Houston.....people need to let her be. She is nowhere near as smooth and seamless as Whitney.
B E A U T I F U L!!!!!!!!!!!! Simply beautiful! I believe this is the closet anyone will ever come to Whitney. Yo keep going! If Whitney had ever heard you, she would have made you her prodigy!!!
no one else has come so close to whitney in this song than she.....god....why doesn't she sparkle now? God...life is a crazy place, she is just amazing
+Jessica Taylor If they ever make a movie about whitney houston, i think tamyra gray is a great candidate to play her. possibly perfect choice to play her. after listening to a - b comparison of this song that whitney and tamyra sang. i think at the lower register part, whitney sounds better, but at the higher register, tamyra sounds better. overall, i think i prefer the higher key that tamyra sang than whitney. i think tamyra version has a better replayability than whitney.
+kim truong I agree. Tamyra is so beautiful and has such a gorgeous, well rounded voice and range, I really wish that she was out there in the industry. She could go so far. But I'd like to see her do it, without being destroyed in the process.
+Jessica Taylor very good point being made about her might get destroy if she does go far in the music business. I guess that the price to pay for being too famous and popular. So its probably better that she is not too famous or popular as how she is now. Maybe its better for her this way.
@@8966nicole sorry, english is my 2nd language. what i meant when i say replayability is listening to same song over and over again. and tamyra voice with the right song might make me want listen to it over and over again. more so than whitney houston version of the same song.
Wow..can't believe I haven't seen this before. Fantastic..She should put out something...even if it's remakes...A house is not a home was amazing as well :)
I liked this so much I recorded it on a tape back then. I played the tape a few days ago and here I am. I'm the biggest critic that exists and I think this is great.
(continued) Jennifer Hudson's version on the Grammys made me cry, too...I am almost 45 years old. But listening to Tamyra Gray sing it just now didn't affect me that way. Now there is probably a video of Tamyra's character on Boston Public singing "Dance With My Father" somewhere on here, when she was at her dad's funeral. I remember watching that on Fox and it made me cry.
@PrincessNyema this was Dolly Parton's song that she wrote. If you ever saw the movie "The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas," Dolly sings it at the end of the movie. I remember watching that movie countless times as a teenager. I still have the VHS tape that I taped it on from cable. I always cried when she sang that song. I never cried when Whitney sang it until she passed.
is not a movie, is an old show about a Public Highschool, It was awesome the name of the series is "Boston Public".. the same creator of "the Practice" and "Boston Legal"
I just hope if they come out with a Whitney Houston Movie, they let Tamyra Gray play as her...because I believe she will do her justice, and I think this role is her destiny.
I still to this day cant look at Kelly Clarkson for stealing this from Tamyra... Tamyra is such poise, beauty, and her talent is beyond her years! Who knows if winning would have turned out to be best for Tamyra - these things can adversely affect people's lives in ways never anticipated. But Kelly Clarkson knew she was not the better talent by a city mile, and I've never cared for her since! I listen to my girl Tamyra though to this day!! Wow! What an enormous talent in such a little package!!
I actually agree that Tamyra should have won that first season, but Kelly is one of the best vocalists of our generation. Go listen to her “Kellyoke” segment from her talk show for a while and you’ll see that she can see anything almost better than the original
This was from about 8 or 9 years ago, so there is a good chance Whitney did hear this. Tamyra competed on the first season on American Idol and placed fourth behind Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini and someone else I can't recall. She appeared on Boston Public the next year in a recurring role, and this is supposed to be an audition for a school play.
Have anyone noticed that she is sing this song higher key. All I say Tamyra did an amazing job on this cover.
I still dont understand why she didnt win, her voice is amazing!! Sing it Tamyra!!
I bawled my eyes out.. I see this video as a talent show and nobody is her friend and they hear her sing and they are shocked... I love Tamyra...... Love you gurl!
Oh this show Boston Public, I miss it. This made me cry so much she's amazing
This lamb concurs.
and she belts it so clearly, and even goes higher at the end...wow!!
this is the best cover of this song besides Whitney
I agree with you
MrBlactye b( ̄▽ ̄)d
I can see exactly why she chose this song, just sheer magic. Peace.
ABSOLUTELY, PERFECTLY, BEAUTIFUL! NO RUNS JUST FOR THE SAKE OF RUNS, JUST PER SINGING TALENT.
Best version of this song bar none.
Just incredible ! I discovered that 2 days ago and I'm glad I did.
I cried like a little baby after hearing the rendition.
I'm becoming a big fan of hers now.
i love this woman .. such a beautiful voice and amazing talent ... forever a fan!
Likewise, I'm a forever and ever fan!!
Still my fav idol!
yeah mine too OF ALL TIMES
Amazing voice!! Tamyra is very talented. Clearly this is better than the versions done by Jennifer, Beyonce, Jordin, Ashanti and Monica (All Amazing Vocalists). RIP Whitney!!
Sometimes Im' so angry that people are singing Whitney's version of this song because they just can't do it right. But she did very, very good !
Tamyra's undefeated!
This isn't Whitney's song...Dolly Parton not only performed this years before Whitney...but Dolly wrote this song!
I saw her in If/Then as Kate. I could listen to her for days
Simple, yet powerful. Absolutely beautiful.
Tamyra... I have listen to all of your songs....... You are one of the best I ever heard! I really love your voice........
Is this higher then the original key? SHE DID AMAZING!
Yes she is definately in a higher key..
It’s not a very high song to begin with
She's so good I thought she was lip-syncing at first! Wow! If that was her voice, she's amazing. If I hadn't heard Whitney first I wouldn't have doubted. I still love Whitney's version, but Tamyra is wonderful too. I hope she will use her God-given talent to give Him Glory and have a better life.
Nicely done excellent vocals!

She did a awesome pretty decent job here doing it in her range and she sings it very well in my opinion better than Jennifer Hudson I think.
Wow, she was perfect on this
this is best cover ever
love you Tamyra~~!!!
Perfection. I can only wish I could sing like her..👍💚
Por fin, de todo lo que e escuchado, esta es la version que mas se parece a la original. El video parece de pelicula :D

no one else has come so close to whitney in this song than she.....god....why doesn't she sparkle now? God...life is a crazy place, she is just amazing
She could play a young Whitney Houston in a documentary. Looks like her and sounds like her.... ❤️

Tamyra has a great voice. ..omg..I keep listening to her sing. She comes so close to Whitney til its scary!!!
Well I disagree. Not saying she is Whitney but she hits some of the notes like Whitney. Just my opinion.

What was she performing this for? She sings this song so effortlessly its amazing...

Wow. I forgot about this. Her voice is sweeter than J.Hud's she should have done this on the Grammys.
is not a movie, is an old show about a Public Highschool, It was awesome the name of the series is "Boston Public".. the same creator of "the Practice" and "Boston Legal"
this is really good ***** :)

She's good at singing
@JayDelaCruz3 I completely agree. Next to Whitney Houston, I've never heard a better rendition of this song. Her voice is just beautiful.
wow!!., incredible., nice :D

What is this from?? Like what movie or tv show??????
I do believe had she sung this on American idol she would have given Kelly a run for her money. Because is pretty much flawless.
