Thank you so much for airing this story. As a healthcare worker, this is horrifying and sickening. We know once we administer the med, it shows in the patient’s system
This happened to my friend this year. They even had a social worker approach while still in the hospital. She explained that the doctors gave her a certain medication that could've been cleared up with a phone call.
@kennylee23 The insurance companies don't work the way they should, the legal system doesn't operate how it should, and the politicians actively work against the common citizens. All that affects this.
@rhondanash-taylor9203 ... They ordered it for prior conditions... You do realize just because a woman gets pregnant doesn't mean prior conditions stop existing. So often they still have to take medications to
There are cases where kids _should_ be ripped from the home, yet they aren’t. Then you have so many instances where everything is fine so they invent shit like in this case. What exactly is their mission besides make everybody miserable???
So true. I dealt with this being a mandated reporter. Social worker said taking the child from the home would hurt the child. But the family was white. Yet my black sister had kids taken on false allegations and no evidence. The father made the call cause she didn't want to get back with him after he supposedly had changed.
So, how does the hospital reporting to police and/child welfare agencies on a patient use of drugs given by the hospital not violate HIPPA law? If these women are considered criminals, why isn't the hospital charged with drug trafficking?
What are they adding and/or subtracting from these snatched babies? What nefarious activities are really going on behind the scenes. The hospitals are in on it.
@unique5996 Yeah, notice when the kids actually hurt, improperly messed with, or mistreated, they ignored it. When the mom has been caught with substances fr ,the parent has had multiple calls, or a child ends up having a baby at 11 they don't bat an eye. A mom taking her prescribed medication though they are itching to send her to jail.
Wonder if they can sue the hospitals for emotional distress for their incompetence. edit I see they are immune if they made trhe report in "good faith". But how is it in good faith if they give the medication then report them for taking the medication.
@gambitsfox4216 the same that would ignore patients bleeding out after delivery, kick dying patients out because they aren't rich, and have biased survival rates, especially for organ donors/does who could survive.
Massachusetts here. My hospital reported me to DCF after birth for PRESCRIBED medication given to me by my perinatologist, supervised by my primary care and orthopedic surgeon. I ended up on a "Do Not Foster" list because of it. The doctor made a medical error that made me hemhorrage, code, die and be revived., which made me not able to have more kids. So referred to DCF illegally, made barren, can't foster, and they sent me a bill for $26,000.
Did you not have it listed on your medications list with your obgyn? Every time I went to see mine, they went over what medications I was taking, including supplements. They wanted to make sure they knew if another doctor prescribed me anything else or if i started taking any new supplements. And I could go online to my records and request they add or remove something from that list between visits. When I got to the hospital they had me tell them everything I was taking and what it was for and the schedule I follow for taking them...then they had their pharmacy give me those exact medications at the right time, so I didn't have to take my own supply. I was even prescribed oxycodon acetaminophen for a kidney stone a few weeks before I went into labor and my obgyn put that in my list even though I was finished taking it by the time I went to my next appointment after being prescribed it in the ER.

This level of willful incompetence is beyond unacceptable. The hospital administered the medication, and instead of taking responsibility or even clarifying the situation, the patient was reported and punished. This is systemic negligence, plain and simple. Hospitals and authorities have a duty to investigate thoroughly before taking action against a patient. The fact that this was not done shows a complete disregard for patient rights and dignity. It is outrageous that patients are being blamed for substances the hospital itself administered without any effort to verify the facts. This is a clear violation of patient trust and likely breaches laws like HIPAA and informed consent. It reeks of coercion, abuse of power, and medical negligence, and it is causing unnecessary trauma for families who are already vulnerable. We need systemic change now. Hospitals must be held accountable for their actions, and authorities must be required to investigate these situations fully before targeting patients. This is not just incompetence. It is cruelty. Enough is enough.
