Seeing Elma effortlessly rock these pods just makes me happy. She first stood out for me as an interviewer and personality during the 2019 World Cup and I've been following her career since. I don't think people appreciate exactly how good she is at her job and how difficult it is to create and maintain an environment where there is a natural flow of conversation. I wasn’t aware of the “Top Tier” rule for players in the PWR. Surely if the rugby family want to expand into new countries, perhaps they need to revisit this point. Maybe limit it to a max of 2 players per squad from “non top tier” countries.
One of the best episodes ever and Ive watched all 97 of them. Elma morphing into Portia Woodman and back was brilliant; its the hair, I had to do double take at that!!!
It seems daft to me to limit any foreign players from the PWR to protect the Roses from falling short of players. The Roses have a massive excess of choice. Allow the best of all nations in the PWR and let steel sharpen steel. Fix it only if it becomes a problem
The 2 USA v Canada games she played are worth a watch. The second one, where she got a full game, she played on the wing but took lots of opportunity to look for work in the centres, but, they never used her as a decoy or put the ball in her hands. She touched the ball probably 6 times, but ran lateral far more than she ran forwards.
I really enjoy GSR when they go completely off the script like this. I like that the team don't try to force them back into line. It allows the stories to live, and shows the wonderful friendships formed in the background of rugby.
Really not sure about all the overseas players coming into the league, I'm worried that the young home nations players are going to suffer. I appreciate we need to help players around the world, but their home nations need to do more. Love the podcast cast, thank you.
How much of the nationality issue, a product of an agreement with the Home Office, over who is eligible for work visas? May have to thank your friendly BREXIT voters for making Swedes and the Dutch need visas to play here.
I have to say, with the greatest of respect, that I 110% disagree with this comment! Elma is a fantastic host who orchestrates the environment to give room for her co-hosts and guests the time, space and safety to flourish. I also think her insights and reflections are always worth listening to, and I defy anyone to watch the Siya Kolisi episode and listen to Elma's passionate contribution with a dry eye!
