Thank you for checking Tilly Birds out, they're definitely one of the biggest Thai bands currently pumping out many viral songs (Three man down is another band that is also under the music label Gene Lab who have some really talented artists). I also love the fact that this label nearly always has English subs that are not literal translations, but have been suitably translated to be coherent in English and deliver the same emotions/feels as those in the Thai lyrics though they may not mean the same thing exactly. In regards to the song itself, I guess you can interpret it however you wish (as mentioned, if you solely listen to the lyrics, then it could be representative of any one of your loved ones may it be your family, friends, lover etc.). I had not thought about the theory about the two children being his parents and it does make quite a lot of sense - I kind of you took it as face value and assumed they were his siblings that he now had the burden to look after. I don't believe this song used any traditional instruments to my knowledge. This MV and song hits even harder when you learn the backstory of the lead singer of this band (Third/3rd Tilly Birds) and how this song is representative of events that occurred in his life. I'm not sure of the exact date, but he lost his dog, his mother and his father is relatively rapid succession quite recently (He has appeared on a talkshow/radio program where he explained and it did cause me to tear up quite a bit). Essentially, he first lost his dog to some form of terminal cancer, this was shortly followed by losing his mother to stage 4 cancer (He talked about how it was very sudden, and the doctors had told his mother that it was only stage 2 but in reality it was already stage 4 and she had only a few months left to live). Naturally, his father was devastated by this loss, and combined with previously developed depression, this was the final straw and his father could not handle the grief and took his own life at some point. I honestly appreciate how strong Third is and how he has persevered from these losses and continued to develop himself and his music reaching new heights. This band has a wide range of genres so I cannot confined them to one form of music, definitely check out some of their other stuff as they are unafraid to experiment. Another underrated band from this music label I love is called ASIA7 and they combine modern instruments with some traditional Thai instruments which makes for some beautiful songs. กล่อม (Lullaby) - ASIA7 |Official MV| เจ้าความรัก (Yearning) - ASIA7 |Official MV| (Latest release)
