If I can add another tip: Think of how the characters speak to different types of other characters - how do they speak to their inner circle vs not-so-close and familiar characters? How do they speak to someone who has more or less authority than them? Flirty characters don't flirt with everyone, arrogant ones don't look down on everyone.

So, character interactions? They will be hostile towards a certain someone and evoke a different emotion while against others they behave differently. This is a classic way to make them feel authentic. No person talks to the same people in the same way.

Great video! I love the more practical tips, you can tell it comes from genuine writing experience besides simply reading books. That makes a world of difference, specially here on TH-cam.
Btw, your camera, sound, cadence and script are all top notch. TH-cam recommended me your channel and I'm sure it will keep doing so for many others. You definitely earned a subscriber!

Great video! Kudos! A humble contribution: nowadays, web and social media are mines of examples of spoken communication one can use to get inspiration. For esample, one can use web articles published by real lawyers as a source of examples for a lawyer character. One can find example of individual words, whole sentences, idioms, figures of speech and abstract concepts used by a specific type of character when speaking.

I have a character that resorts to uhms, uhhs and the like when they are nervous around the opposite gender. Motifs of their personality are signals to making them "real" and surpass "superfluous". I hope it's not egregious enough when I comb through round 2 edits...

You've got character voices all figured out I'd say. Yay! Soo, would this be over-doing it?
Character A: Do you want to go to the coffee shop with me now?
    Character B: Oh baby!
Character A: Is that a yes?
    Character B: Oh baby!
Character A: You know, my friend, I've been meaning to say, you say "oh baby" a lot.
    Character B: No I don't.
Character A: Well, whatever. How about we walk, seeing as how the sun's come out so nicely?
    Character B: Oh baby!
Ha ha. But anyway, I'll be doing my first livestream this Friday from 1 to 3 in the afternoon. I'm super duper huper excited. I hope to see you there!

I heard an advice somewhere that a quirky catch phrase can be used once per scene or paragraph as a good way to balance using it.

Number 7 should be number 1 and really all of the numbers. Listen to people. Take notes. Get ideas.
