  • Let’s be honest, #change is difficult, but it is necessary. Bishop Johnson shows how Jesus, our example, teaches is how to be Agents of Change.

    The whisper of the Holy Spirit told me that the Parable of the New Wine and the Old Wineskin was a parable demonstrating the warning of not putting a new idea into an old Jewish mind as the new idea (that salvation now comes from the Christ) preached into an adult Jewish mind already hardened in it's ways might cause the adult Jewish mind to have a nervous breakdown. If the adult jewish mind has a nervous breakdown then both the adult mind and the new idea would both be ruined. He warned them not to hurt the old jews as Jesus is unwilling that even one should turn away from the Father because of something that he has done. Later Jesus reinstated this same command when he said "Let the little children come to me." Because if a young jewish person hears a new idea, that salvation now comes from the Christ, they might not believe in the word but at least they will not have a nervous breakdown. You put new wine into a new wineskin and new ideas into a young mind.

    This parable is about the resurrection and our ultimate glorified state. Old wineskins / bottles represent our corruptible bodies in the flesh. We have received the spirit of adoption, however we haven’t received the actual adoption of sons “to wit the redemption of our body” Romans 8:23. The new wine is the spirit being put into our new bodies/new bottles/wineskins. We are in a state of fasting and groaning now waiting for the redemption of the purchased possession. The fullness of the spirit would simply burst our corruptible body so this mortal must put on immortality and this corruptible must put on incorruption.

    Bishop, you state that Levi was having his party on one of the fasting days (Monday or Thursday). Where are you getting this from? I don't see any references in the gospels that indicate what day this feast occurred on.

    Sorry bishop, you are mistaken! ... Jesus tells us in verse 39 And no one after drinking old wine desires new, for he says, ‘The old is good.’ ”.
    So by your definition you are saying to change from our old ways?...but the old ways are better?

    • @BusisaMbele
      @BusisaMbele 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Farmer Scott You’re reading in the wrong context. Verse 39 says that no one having drunk old wine immediately desires new; because he (small letter h - not Jesus) says/believes/thinks the old is better.

      @pastorlaura1996 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Farmer Scott you mis read the scripture. Jesus is saying the that people are stuck with the tradition so they sat that the old wine is better... you have read it in error without the right interpretation of the text so please read it again

    I'd like to add some information that will support and contradict this video.
    Lets start on looking at who was Jesus speaking to when he brings up the examples of the cloth and the wineskins??? JOHN the Baptist disciples. Yes and why was he speaking with John's disciples? You must read it in its entire context to understand the wineskin and cloth examples. We see that John's disciples in this instance and others did not follow Jesus or know who He truly was. They came to Jesus to question Him as to why His disciples DO NOT FAST? Jesus was using the wineskin and cloth analogy to explain that is it ridiculous to fast while He is with them. Or in other words why MOURN while they have the bridegroom? It goes way deeper when we observe what Jesus was speaking of and to whom and why was he saying what he said.
    1. You can read it for yourself in it's entirety, but lets look at the who and the question first; Matthew 9:14 NKJV
    Then the disciples of John came to Him, saying, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but Your disciples do not fast?”
    2. Then Jesus says the statement; Matthew 9:15 NKJV “Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? Notice he calls them friends? Where do we see Jesus using this word friends? John 15:15-16 NKJV. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. [16] You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.
    3. Then the remaining part of verse 15; Matthew 9:15-16 NKJV. But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast. Why will they fast? Because they will mourn His death and is gone from them.
    disciples
    5. Now we come to the last of the verse Jesus finished by telling them an obvious statement. His statement was getting them to see the WHY? Why fast? Its like putting a new clothe on and old garment and new wine in new wine skins! WHO WOULD DO SUCH A THING? Do you see it? DO YOU?
    So when we see so many try to make out an interpretation of Jesus examples they are completely missing the point of Jesus's focus for John's disciples. Remember what John says and I encourage you to search all scriptures of John's words and or the Old testament scriptures of who John is and His purpose. He is the second witness to who Jesus is...GOD, making straight the way for the LORD.
    Jesus is the same yesterday today and forever.
    Psalm 19:7-14 NKJV
    The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; [8] The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; [9] The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. [10] More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. [11] Moreover by them Your servant is warned, And in keeping them there is great reward. [12] Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults. [13] Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, And I shall be innocent of great transgression. [14] Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.

    The Pharisees were not "His" people. They were converts of the law of Moses and despised Christ. Christ schooled the Pharisees time and time again. Christ was there to teach His people not the Pharisees. The Pharisees had their own laws mixed with Moses's law.
