What an amazing store, so wonderfully set up, everything looked extremely fresh and well packaged. I could definitely do some shopping there. The Japanese fruit looked delicious and I'm sure it's absolutely delicious. Thank you for taking us to this unforgettable store.
I enjoyed this walk, especially the side streets, And the temple was beautiful. It was nice to see the service too. I will enjoy your trip too. Thanks AK.
What an unusual place, it's awfully crowded with a lot of things that I've never seen before! I'm sure tourists who can't speak Chinese would be utterly confused of where to go in this store. Regardless, If I wasn't housebound, I would love to go there! Thank you so much young man, you've made an old man very happy. God Bless
@ActionKid Great example of the need for your ascension of followers. People that can't for whatever reason leave their home would Love this. In my opinion anyway💫👌💥
Was thinking the same thing !!! : D I might have wished to try a dish or two of their food too and sat in the food court - just for the experience ^_ ^
Never really thought about the offshoot stores of Don Quijote before. I think I've vaguely heard of Don Don Donki, but never looked into it. I have been to the Don Quijote store in Okinawa for a bit. Good to know that there is now a Donki presence in Taipei. The last time I was in Taiwan, there wasn't any Donki presence at all. Don Don Donki looks like if you merged Don Quijote and Stew Leonard's together and you get...that kind of wacky themed super market with some corny jingles. (Not surprising for the corny jingle for Donki if you've been to Japan.) If the Don Quijote franchise ever managed to make a break-through into the mainland US market, I think some people will fall in love with the craziness and extremities of the store, itself. Not sure about Don Don Donki though.... Could work in Asian populated cities/areas, perhaps, like NYC and Flushing. Anyway, thanks for sharing.
A very interesting supermarket for sure 😂 I enjoyed watching you experience it 😊 If it were me that song would be in my head all day after listening to it on repeat constantly 😂
They have a couple of Don Quijote locations in Oahu, Hawaii. One in near the edge of Waikiki, and the other at the west side of the island reachable by the light rail at Waipahu. Definitely a way to checkout these stores domestically in the US by going to Hawaii without having to fly internationally.
There are many Donki stores in Tokyo. Now strawberry season in Japan. Please try it. Many famous spots in Tokyo are conquered by foreigners now so you won't be lost here.
All I gotta say is: Don Don: Donki...Don Don: Donki, Don Don: Donkiiiii🎵🎶😊😂🤣👏🏻 Just kidding...😅 xièxiè nî Ak, for taking us all into this amusing experience with you.🤗 I loved the japanese store very much, arigato.😊☺👍🏻👏🏻
Hi Ken... If you like the surreal lights, the bizarre music, sound effects noise of Don Don Donki...you will probably love the blinding lights & aural bombardment (in a good way) of Tokyo when you go there one day! It's indescribable the effects on the 5 senses! At first it all seems like a gigantic amusement park! Don Don Donki reflects that aesthetic in a way. Fun! Wish I were there with you! The eternal child in me is tickled! Lol!
Those white strawberries are actually kinda hard to grow because they are white hence why they are a bit more expensive. In Florida we call them pine berries while Publix and whole foods have them but not all the stores have them. They just taste exactly as normal strawberries should taste just they are white.
OMG, there's Don Don Donki in Taiwan and it's so kawaii! The store is branded as Don Quijote in Japan, and I remember buying a lot of Japanese drinks in Tokyo due to the inexpensive prices! 😂 14:46, 18:00 Those must be some premium strawberries if they're that expensive inside a discount store. 🍓😲 The store is so clean and neatly organized. The repeated theme jingle should have snapped you out of your jetlag. 😆 The cashier provided excellent service by offering to cut the tape off your umbrella. 👍 Good job with your Mandarin, and thank you for sharing this walkthrough, AK! 🤗
I love it !!! Thanks for this AK ! Very fascinating... never heard of this store chain before. It's funny too, I've had trolls on TH-cam make fun of my name using the play of words very similar to the name of this store.
Don Don Donki only started appearing in Taiwan in the last 3 - 4 years, same as in Thailand. Both goes by the same Don Don Donki name. If you ever return to Honolulu again, they have the same stores going by the Don Quijote name, closest to Waikiki is the Kaheka store near Ala Moana Center.
I was surprised that it was much more beautiful and spacious than Don Quijote in Japan❤It's a pity that in Japan it's piled up high and cluttered, making it difficult to see and litter falling. 日本のドンキホーテより、よっぽど綺麗で広くてびっくりした‼️日本は高く積み上げてあってごちゃごちゃしていて、見づらくてゴミが落ちていてイマイチ
This supermarket is full of sensory overload with its many goods and repeating song. It looks like a mega discount store. Glad you survived it cuz I wouldn't have! 😅
Wow. The yellow directory sign is in five languages. I used to try to learn Thai and the other languages that are listed on there. Maybe one day I will get back again and learn. Yeah, the order on the sign is Chinese, Japanese, English, Thai, and Korean. I will stay with English for now 🎉
What an amazing place! I would've been just like you, only I would've thought I was dreaming 😂 what a place... Bro, I literally looked up the price conversion after you mentioned at 7:08 when you said "$3" for $450 to USD from $31/$1. At 7:38 I found it was $14.52 and you literally said after "I think I may have gotten it wrong. I think it's $15." 🤣 I had a good laugh afterwards...
From the Interwebs: “‘Don Don Donki’ is a play on the Japanese onomatopoeic expression “don,” which can represent a heavy, steady sound, such as a drumbeat. In this context, it conveys a lively and energetic atmosphere, which aligns with the store’s vibrant and bustling environment. It doesn’t mean anything.” 😮
This is a market from heaven. It looks like it has everything. Yeah when i went to Japan with Ben and Ming we saw the strawberries at that price. I think the most expensive fruit was the Mango and it was like $200 or $400 😱This place is also entertaining. 😎
That store is in Japan known as Don Quijote if i’m not been mistaken🤔Quite interesting looking store and nice variety of goods😎Thank you for sharing this experience A K 🙂👍!!!
See it as more of a mini amusement park and you'll have more fun shopping ! That said... I'm wondering actually if they started piping the tunes just for AK, when they saw him entering the store ?!? For the cheap thrill and quick advertising context ??
Not a discount store. I got some KitKats (10 per bag/box) there for anywhere from 129 to 279 NT dollars. That's $4 or $9 US dollars for just 10 KitKats!
That is like where was the 'donkey' in the DONKEY KONG ADVENTURES SNES games. 😂 DON DON DONKI, where is donkey, AK? 🥸👍 I am like where is donkey, show me donkey. nO dOnKeY?? 😮
roughly 150 + 150 ⚌ yes : ) edit: I would have bought the Miso paste though to shave with, instead of the chemical/propane loaded shave foam... and saved a couple bucks !
I think the whole the Japan places all stores are so good good and so good beautiful and so good comfortable and so good big and so good wides. I think the whole the Japan all restaurants are can be have many different kinds of foods and can be have many different kinds of beverages and can be have many different kinds of somethings are can be to buys. Interesting shop. I would spend a great deal of time in there 🦜 You need shaving cream? I'm sure that young guy knew English when you asked. How much was both items?
imagine working at that store and hear that donki song every day
😂
I visited the one in Hong Kong. Boy was I singing it at the hotel that night 😂
What an amazing store, so wonderfully set up, everything looked extremely fresh and well packaged. I could definitely do some shopping there. The Japanese fruit looked delicious and I'm sure it's absolutely delicious. Thank you for taking us to this unforgettable store.
Great perspective! Agreed... was especially impressed too, how neatly displayed everything was and nothing was out of place or thrown around !
My pleasure, it was the quirkiest store I ever visited
I enjoyed this walk, especially the side streets, And the temple was beautiful. It was nice to see the service too. I will enjoy your trip too. Thanks AK.
You're welcome, it was such a nice store
Imagine working there. I'd go insane after one shift of the song and the same sounds over and over again.
you are the best for showing this international shopping experience.
The trade is in full swing!!!
Not sure I’ll be able unhear the music. Amazing concept for a store.
What an unusual place, it's awfully crowded with a lot of things that I've never seen before! I'm sure tourists who can't speak Chinese would be utterly confused of where to go in this store. WOW so much stuff in that huge store and so colorful 😃 Hopefully you don't get nightmares from that song playing all the time 🤪
Yes, it's such a fun store to walk through
Thanks for the enjoyable walk through the store- I'd come out with far more goodies than planned for sure.
Was thinking the same thing !!! : D I might have wished to try a dish or two of their food too and sat in the food court - just for the experience ^_ ^
they have really good facial cleansers for sure! Instant soft & smooth moisturized skin. I just couldn't read the brand sadly
AK you will have that theme song in your head all day - thank you for taking us with you on your adventures, greatly appreciate it!
It's still stuck in my head

I feel for the employees who work there having to hear that song all day every day.
The song is still stuck in my head!
that was fun!!
What a maze! It’s like a casino.🎰😅
That store was an interesting experience, I feel like a victim of a sonic weapon 😅

Considering AK was in Oahu last year too.
Good to know! I didn't even know about it in Oahu!
The people who work there must be hearing that theme song in their dreams.....or nightmares! lol 🧚♀
I was singing it for days! And I was only a tourist who visited for an hour!
I'm sure you were. lol @@j134679

Lol! Welcome to Tokyo Lite! 😘
Sensory overload‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
What a magnificent store
Come to Japan! Donki is everywhere.
Chocolate coated chips are good. You should try em. salt + chocolate, kinda like how some would add a sprinkle of salt on top of their hot choco.
Those white strawberries are actually kinda hard to grow because they are white hence why they are a bit more expensive. In Florida we call them pine berries while Publix and whole foods have them but not all the stores have them. They just taste exactly as normal strawberries should taste just they are white.

You're welcome, I can only imagine the Don Quijote branded stores in Japan!
It's branded as Donquijote in Hawaii too. I've visited Donki in Singapore and Bangkok.

It's in Hong Kong and Singapore too. Definitely popular to those who wanna buy Japanese products without having to fly to Japan
Wow what a crazy store. Feels like you are in a video game. Luckily you found your shaving crème.
Special albino strawberries!
Wow 😍 I love places like this. It be cool to see a snack review from Taiwan 🤔 if you have time AK.
This store is something else 😲
How can I not comment on a video featuring the name Don? So many small packages; it is huge for a convenience store.
That little amusing store is a neat little bundle of joy - indeed!
The ActionKid contemplating purchasing chocolate 🍫 coated potato 🥔 chips 😋 ! 🐼

You will go back to Taiwan to study Thai language in a Don Don Donki convenience store ?
Some of the signages within the store seem to have Vietnamese and Filipino too
Your mandarin is getting much better over the years! Congrats! 🎉❤
Everything is so clean, organized and fun. I want to go to Japan! 😊
Unique store
