    For a five year later update go to video: "Planting a Huge Drift of Superbena + Urns on Our West Side! " and skip to the urn section. They are now an over 6ft tall fluffy wall.

    Hi Garden Answer, if possible, please include a drone overview shot in every monthly tours so its easy to see overall layout. Slow closer drone view of each section will be great. I think the colours as the flowers bloom and each area gets changed or filled out and as the season changes, it will be amazing to see it. Especially for those fans (i.e. me) from the tropics. Thanks!

    You can also cut with a hot tool. That way, the woven landscape fabric is less likely to fray/unravel.

    I have always loved Arborvitaes. I had to cut one down about 5 years ago that died and I was so sad, my dad had planted it from a baby from his boyhood home, so it had a lot of meaning. The hedgerow is going to look great and hide a lot of not so pretty stuff. I'm so glad you got them in. Good luck with them.

That's half the fun ! The planning and then the final result. Thanks to you both for sharing your garden and dreams with us.

    LOOKS SO GOOD! 😊 I love my North Pole Arbs, mine don't seem to get wind burn as easily as my basic Arbs. That's going to look awesome with Blue Spruce at the end too! I used compost mulch ontop of my landscape fabric in my butterfly garden, and it broke down so fast that it created a great layer of dirt ontop of the fabric for weeds to grow 😕, but they pull up super easy so nbd... but from now on I'm sticking with with hardwood mulch over fabric! ..still breaks down, just not as fast. .... seriously this looks so great!

    Arborvitaes look great and as you said a great choice as a wind break, view blocker, and privacy/cozy hedge. Too bad they dont grow in my sunset zone 9 8( . Bah hum bug. Love the process, keep the videos coming. We so need a show like this here in the U.S. ... like Gardeners World and Gardening Australia. Really agree that HGTV needs to include you on their roster. They really dont have any shows representing gardening for the G in HGTV. And for those in CA. that can garden almost year round it would be great to have more gardening represented in the colder months...like you do. Indoor/outdoor arrangements, house plants, bulbs etc... Congrats on your Baby Boy again!

    Beautiful job , nice to see them in the ground. I see those type of trees at the garden Ctr but they always have different varieties and it's a little overwhelming trying to figure out which ones I should get.

    • @ThorKipperberg
      @ThorKipperberg 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thuja occidentalis 'Brabant' thats the species name for these,. there is also a darker and more narrow type called smaragd/emerald. but they are not as effective to use in a hedge as they dont fill in that much. brabant grows wide and tall,. they also are effective in keeping weeds away from them, both because they shade out the grass and weeds growing underneat and around them, but also because they drop needles, and small branches that mulches the ground pretty effective in a short time,. We have these around our garden, and they are huge! and we did not need any landscape fabric,. and notting is growing around them, not even ground elder, and dandelions,. its a total dessert under these trees. other thing that is important is they need a lot of water, and they dry up the soil aroundthem pretty fast during the summer,. if these trees dry up, or get sunburned it takes a long long time to bounce back with green growth, and trimming them is also tricky at least, never trim to much and to deep in, it is very hard to get them to look good if you cut to much or to far in to the branches, as cut branches takes forever to heal and regrow,.

    I really love all that you do and wonder where you get the energy to get it done. I really would like you to think of incorporating more fruit trees into your landscape. Not only will your bees help you in that area but your soon to be son will also enjoy this. Please, this is not a criticism but because of your ability to source the trees and talk about care and pruning to keep them looking presentable, it would help lots of your subies think of edible alternatives in their landscapes. Also, don't worry about the mom's brain it's a side effect of being pregnant and it never goes away completely.
