I find the winter pansies bought in garden centres tend to just shrivel and go limp as soon as it gets below about 15 degrees. I’m hoping the ones I’m growing from seed this year will last well into winter!

Such a helpful video for a novice gardener like me! I have just moved into a house with a garden for the first time ever this year so excited to get started 😁

Beautiful!!! So are you saying that these plants will survive through the winter on the porch?

Lovely and interesting... On table you had a pelargonium with white variegation on the leaves... Never seen such combination...

I’ve just created a garden bed around a tree. Dirt and mulch measures about 6 inches. But underneath, is dead grass. Will my bulbs be able to root down sufficiently? I will try digging into this surface as much as possible. Maybe I should just plant crocus as they are smaller.

Hi Candy, if you're not able to cultivate the bed more, yes the smaller bulbs such as crocus should grow ok in shallower beds as long as they are still planted to the sufficient depth stated on the packet. I would also recommend feeding the bulbs after they have flowered.

Great video, but I thought that heathers and Skimmia needed ericaceous compost

They do prefer an acidic mix, but you can compensate when using multipurpose peat-free compost by adding John Innes No.3 soil mix.
