The fact that Brad Pitt's character Floyd stays on the sofa throughout the entire film still makes me laugh all these years later. I love this movie. RIP, Tony Scott, Chris Penn, James Gandolfini, and Dennis Hopper.
What a trailer, what a soundtrack, and what a film. One of the most underrated films of all time. A film that deserves much more recognition, written by the legendary Tarantino alongside a perfect cast especially with key performances by Slater who completely nailed his role as the lead, Christopher Walken, Gandolfini, Sizemore and the legendary Gary Oldman who never fails in going above and beyond in making his roles notable, amazing, memorable, outstanding, incredible, always making his roles iconic, as well as always making the film standout as one of the greats, alongside many other appearances from other notable cast members who all nailed there roles, but in a short appearance like Samuel L Jackson, Brad Pitt, etc. A film with an excellent storyline, soundtrack, obsession, filled with action, emotion, feelings, intensity, iconic, legendary scenes, where in the end, despite Tarantino's trademark, and him not being the main director, both of them live on happly ever after, truly being like Bonne and Clyde, but in the end living, with a true romance, change, story, and experience.
True Romance was written in the same style as Pulp Fiction, non linear, which would have made for a better movie. Its still one of my favorite films ever, the cast is superb and full of huge names, never has James Gandolfini been so menacing as Virgil, Jack Black appears in one of the deleted scenes..!!. One of the deleted scenes has Vincent Cocotti coming down in an elevator to attend his daughters wedding, and talking real gangster talk Tony Scott changed the format to linear maybe cos he thought the audience werent very smart. He also filmed two endings, one where Clarence lives and one where he dies. QT wrote it where Clarence dies but also agreed to the ending created by Tony Scott. The screenplay is superb, non linear. Sadly, Tony killed himself by jumping from a bridge
Great movie. One of the best of the 90s. Never saw anyone enjoy eating Chinese food as much as Gary Oldman did in this movie. The scene between hopper and walken was electric.
Literally A great film, written by the legendary Tarantino, with such a perfect cast, especially with Slater who nailed the main role, Christopher Walken, Gandolfini, Sizemore, and the legendary Gary Oldman, who always delivers a legendary performance, no matter what film, and the many other stars who had a short appearance, all left a mark. Great storyline, soundtrack, and action as well, a film that literally has the Tarantino trademark, even if he wasn't the main director. Its worth watching, instead of just clips.
True Romance is definitely one of the very best films of the 1990s with one of the most talented casts ever assembled for any film and like the only thing i find wrong with it is too bad Quentin Tarantino didnt direct it.
Stupid thinking this trailer sucked, on the contrary, is one of the best movie trailers of all time. are you disappointed just because you didn't get the Tarantino's act as a movie trailer? Lame of you thinking that way, cause you must have flopped in you entire life by now. IDIOT!
I saw this movie for the first time when I was eight years old. I rewatched it when I was 16 in 2020 and last week I watched it again. It was a nostalgia trip for sure. If I ever wanted to live in a movie I’d pick this one
The trailer is great... It means 'bad by the standards of normal society', not 'bad, as in evil'... If you think they're normal, then how many people do you know who've killed a pimp and brokered a drug deal?
Love this film, very underrated. Rarely gets a mention when it comes to great films of the 90s or in general. Its a brilliant homage to Badlands in a more stylish way ( not as good though! ) still a belting film. Patricia Arquette has a beautiful innocence about her and I still to this day don't know why Christian Slater didn't become a major Hollywood movie star
@occupynewparadigm I get that but most of his films after were pretty unforgettable.... sad but hey sometimes it takes one roll and some good looks to break Hollywood I suppose... or a couch
Much better than almost a decade ago, when a certain bookstore sold the "collector's edition" DVD for $20. A nearby Target had the unrated version on Bluray with the exact same bonus features as the DVD- for $9.99.
And unlike a different movie he wrote, but did not direct, it feels 100 percent like a QT movie. QT only got the "story by" credit for Natural Born Killers, which Oliver Stone turned it into... something else.
his screenplay is structured different and has a down ending. also a scene deleted from the script was used for reservoir dogs. sorry for nerding out but this is my favorite movie.
hmmm... i'm kinda curious what was different. Just watched it for the first time. I though it was great but there were some bits I found kinda stupid... like the corkscrew scene (why not conceal it and make a surprise attack after some clever bullshit to get him close? and why would you let her tack a shot? I cant remember now but there were a few other bits that didn't make a lot of sense.
The scene where Mr Orange says that Vic Vega was the rat and they say it's impossible. That was dialogue referencing Gandolfi's character in True Romance in the screenplay. The complaint about the fight scene is understandable but Tarantino always pulls that kind of shit in his fight scenes.
Sublime classic one of my all-time favourite movies.perfection.i love Patricia arquette and Slater knocks it outta the park.pitt hopper walken are also on top of they're game.even kilmer steps up to the plate.
Anybody noticed that 4 actors in this movie have appeared in Grand Theft Auto: Dennis Hopper - Steve Scott, GTA Vice City Tom Sizemore - Sonny Forrelli, GTA Vice City Chris Penn - Officer Pulaski, GTA San Andreas Samuel L Jackson - Officer Tenpenny, GTA San Andreas. Also, Christian Slater reminds me so much of Grand Theft Auto 3's protagonist, Claude.
This film was released before I was born but I had a very similar experience. Rented it on Amazon Prime with my GF fully expecting some chick flick but got damn was this a good movie
For real, nowadays movies look like, well, not literally, i mean you can compare it to video games, all games kind of look like fortnite-ish if you know what I mean, it's almost the same with movies. It's such a shame
Kick ass movie! Dennis Hopper.. Christopher Walken. Bradd Pitt!! Non stop great acting. Direction. Filming. Bonnie and Clyde has nothing on this flick! Clockwork Orange and Pulp Fiction fans... you're in for a treat.
A perfect movie That many have never seen. Even fewer in theatre. Including me. There’s so many stars in this you can’t believe it. How did an unknown writer pull this off. ? It is Quentin’s first work but he got rez dogs made first. So I guess that’s why he got all the stars he wanted. Including tony.
Travis Barker & K.K. think they are this couple and oh soooo in love. I think they're in love with the fantasy that they're young teenagers again because they sure are dressing and acting the parts, in love with love & being teens, that's not reality. IMO.

I'm not a big Quentin Tarantino fan, but this movie is just plain awesome. Great cast, interesting characters, captivating story to move the plot along, and it has a good 90s feel to it. Hence the title "True Romance"! You see, Hollywood? THIS is how you make good love stories. Not your Twilight and Nicholas Sparks dreck. (RIP Tony Scott. Miss you.)
Despite Quentin Tarantino didn’t direct this movie, it’s awesome that he collaborated in this movie with Samuel L. Jackson and Christopher Walken a year before Pulp Fiction

Tony Scott never gets enough credit for this film, he's always over shadowed by Tarantino. I'm not criticizing Tarantino, it's one of his very best scripts, but I feel equal credit should be given to the director.

I agree totally. Quality films are few and far between these days. Check "barefoot in the park".
Written by Tarantino
Indeed.
The fact that Brad Pitt's character Floyd stays on the sofa throughout the entire film still makes me laugh all these years later. I love this movie. RIP, Tony Scott, Chris Penn, James Gandolfini, and Dennis Hopper.

He's always eating too
And Tom Sizemore
Movie was epic...like Carlitos way.
God I loved this movie!!
Val Kilmer is looking rough these days too.

At almost 44 years of age~ still love this movie♡
You're still very young.
That voice of narrator that I've been missing for a long time. If I hear his voice back then, it means the movie will be a good one.

Slater as the main character and supported by the likes of Oldman, Walken, Pitt, Hooper, and Val. What a feat that was
True Romance is definitely one of the very best films of the 1990s with one of the most talented casts ever assembled for any film and like the only thing i find wrong with it is too bad Quentin Tarantino didnt direct it.
It's the greatest film of all time
Lol
True Romance is as much of a Valentines movie as Die Hard is a Christmas movie
DUH!
It is a love story, after all. Just one with a generous body count. And a movie that will never be on the Lifetime Channel.
I disagree it’s definitely a perfect Valentine’s Day movie for those of us built differently.
@@marsoblivi0n945 I didn't say it's not! 😆

This trailer does not do the movie any justice. No wonder it flopped in theaters.
"This trailer does not do the movie any justice."

Camille Guiang damn lol
That voice in the trailers is so nostalgic, every time we rented a vhs you’d get all the trailers to see what’s coming out 😂
A classic of the early nighties. The scene with Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper (RIP) is worth the admission fee alone.
A BEER GARDEN IN HOUSTON- is doing a showing Feb 7 and I said a similar statement to a friend that has never seen the movie and wants to go.
Agree! Maybe a fee of cantaloupe and eggplant would suffice
Walken almost played by harrelson

for such a masterpiece of a movie - this trailer does absolutely no justice lmfao

Nope. Time is NOW.
@@BUSTRCHERRI there were cell phones in the 90s.
