First test of my bicycle generator

  • I used mostly recycled parts to this including old rusted bolts, scrap wood, and scrap metal for the frame. I paid $18 for a pulley, $28 for the belt, and $5 for the angle bracket that the motor is mounted on for a total of $51. I'm using a half horse DC motor that use to be used to retract a hose reel. I will need to wire in a charge controller and a deep cell battery as pedaling is not constant speed enough to run bigger electronics with average motors, I can produce more electricity with a battery in the system than without as you can turn faster than the current load demands and voltage x amps = wattage
