I'd be rich if I had a dollar everytime I've been in the same vicinity as Ramblin' Jack. Never missed an opportunity to hear his stories and songs. Been a big fan since my 20s. Hope he stays with us above ground many more years. (Come to think of it-- I am rich for meeting Ramblin' Jack). Bob
I first met Jack in Cleveland back in 1975. His Landrover leaked 6 qts of oil all over Euclid Ave at 2 AM. I watched him perform at Bobby McGhee's on playhouse square. I drove him all over Cleveland looking for an all-night gas station to purchase a case of motor oil. He told me stories and finally we found a case of oil and I poured it into his engine, slammed the hood shut and sent him on his way. His window was rolled down and he was STILL telling me his stories. That's when I figured out why they call him Ramblin Jack! I have seen him 6 times since then here in Texas and we've become fast friends. Today he's 87 and still going strong! I guess I learned to "ramble on as well!
Just think of all the people who thought, this Jewish boy from Brooklyn was a complete nutcase for being obsessed with the Rodeo. Every once in a while, a person is able to ignore society’s norms, the stars align and magic happens. What a life Rambling Jack has lived.

I love Ramblin' Jack. He once played all night long in nothing but a cowboy hat and a kerchief. Circa 1974-5 ish
