I was skint some years back and needed a car to do a 40 mile round trip every day to work. I bought one second hand and have to say, I never had any problems with it at all. The seats were super comfortable and it had decent performance and economy. It was a 1.3 GSI 3 door. Paid £1250 for it and I think I sold it about 3 years later for £700 so cheap and cheerful motoring. I have owned another 4 Hyundai's since and it all started with this little car which I bought because I was broke!
I bought mine at 130k and it's currently at 212k. Still going strong. I recommend a manual, doing the regular maintenance, and driving it carefully. It's a rather easy-to-fix car compared to newer cars, so buy the manual and learn your way around. My friends have car loans, I just have the car...laughing all the way to the bank. I don't need the frills- point A to point B.
I had a 2001 with the auto trans. I bought it with just 32K on it...shortly after, the trans started messing up, so it was fixed under warranty. At 120K, the trans packed it in for good. I was sad, because the rest of the car was still good, and it ran like a watch
@@justsumguy2u That's definitely a bummer. It's a great cheap car, but not if the engine or the transmission have issues. Not sure if you're in the US, but there are younger versions of this model still being sold at low miles. I did run into another guy who ran his into the ground. He said it drove til 270k.
Got this car for 7 years . I always like a vehicle that dosent feel like it needs another gear on the freeway and I can tell you this car is quiet at high speeds. No regrets. mine still running smooth after 230kms. Nice cars
I own a 2005 accent with 200k , have driven it for 8 yrs and love this old friends . I have at least 30 long trips with this old guy and never any problem on the road . I love its initial acceleration that can make me happy for defeating more expensive cars . I love my accent forever !
I don't know if much people know it; Hyundai has a mission and that is still building reliable cars. If you brought the Accent from another person and you got problems, the car may have been fucked up by that person. The Accent is like the Excel a very great car! I'm currently driving the Hyundai Excel 1.3i SE (2000), and I'm planning to replace my car with a dark blue Accent 1.3 from 2001 very soon! :-)
Last year I bought a 2004 Accent 1.3 from an old man with only 97500km. Now i have 120500km. Only fuel, and regular maintenance. I only have changed braking pads and one dead headlight bulb. Not an expensive car, not a performance car, but i really love to drive it! 5.8l/100km consumption with 110km/h speed. Very efficient, very reliable!! Love it!!

Oooh! That review really set my world on fire 😉 I remember sitting in one at the motor show, and finding it a pleasant place to be (although the gear lever knob was mysteriously missing (probably stolen 😠)). A shame, as they really are quite a decent company from my experience. The reviewer missed out on checking quite a few things (rear room, boot space, performance, maybe one or two others), which makes the whole review quite pointless. Nearly bought one second hand a few years back (mvi) - most prudent second hand purchase as it seemed to tick a lot of boxes.
mines got nearly 290,000km and it's ok. For a cheap every day car it has no problems. If anyone is thinking of buying one they seem to be good cars. Although some complaints are the noise in the cabin while driving and it's pretty gutless, but in my manual it launches well if need be. It has no problems doing 110km/h on Australian highways, but the revs are pretty high.

Also had an oil smell in my AC today for a little bit which uh wasn't too pleasant and it has quite a few other problems as well
