After living in the Philippines for 10 years, we moved to Costa del Sol in Spain in 2016. Surprisingly, we found that living here in Spain is actually more affordable than in the Philippines, although dining out is a bit more expensive. However, the overall standard of living is much higher in Spain. Living in the Philippines was great too, but from now on, it will only be for vacations. I spent a month in the Philippines last summer, but it was exhausting-endless queues, deteriorating roads, and rundown malls. You pay 15,000 in rent and a 2,800 electricity bill-I almost feel sorry for you. But then again, if the goal is to live as cheaply as possible just to get by, I understand. Personally, I couldn’t do it. Of course, budgets depend on each person’s standards, but personally, I wouldn’t live in the Philippines just because I couldn’t afford anything else. Unfortunately, there’s too much drinking among foreigners in the Philippines, which often leads to an early death. Live healthy and enjoy life, and you might even manage it without Viagra.🙂
@@mirceacluj6539 Absolutely right, the standard of living is high in Spain, and the sun shines all year round. Most people choose the Philippines for one reason: to find a wonderful woman. It’s easy to bring a Filipina woman to Spain, as they easily get family reunification and cohabitation residence permits without overly complicated paperwork. In fact, many Filipina women stay illegally in Spain for three years and then automatically receive residency permits.
You can’t compare Spain and the Philippines; it’s like comparing a Tesla to a scooter. The Philippines is nice too, as long as you don’t have high expectations for your surroundings.
Another great video. Yes , they're some ladies that has a good job. My wife worked at a bank when we got together. Not all Filipino women need us foreigners.
For those who came for the numbers. Half the video is budget, half the video is blah blah blah: 22k pesos fixed costs (15k rent) 3x 20k ATM withdrawals for food etc This video included a trip to Cebu for about 10k (4k flights, 6k hotel) So total about: 92k pesos Good job!!! Doing a better job than me!
Yep, root vegetables aren't cheap here, no doubt about that but I'm guessing it's because of the heavy rain. If the soil is too damp carrots, potatoes etc will rot in the ground but I've got no idea why tomatoes etc are so pricey, I would expect them to be much cheaper 🤔
Hello to you and Ellen , I am one of your silent subscribers. I had to say that this is why I watch you and Ellen , it just seems like y’all are different, yall have respect for one another and the way y’all get along is tremendous. You never try to use Ellen as a sex prop for your content like 99% of the other vloggers use their wife or girlfriend. Ellen sits by your side as a partner and I have to respect that.

I like to make where I AM at, the place to be. So I make my home that place. Better food (a healthy home cooked meal with salad), beautiful home with garden, with a man-made living river, waterfall and pond, a nice cozy secrete garden, and completely private. No unwanted pop-in guests and no drunkards. The waterfalls completely blocks any outside unwanted boom boom blaring music. Living the Sigma-Male life. And most importantly, I enjoy my own company.

Food 15K Wifi 1K Water bill 250 Drinking water 150 Dog food 1K Diesel 1K Eating out/entertaining at home 5K We are very lucky in that we do not have a mortgage/rent as we built our own home on the 1000 sq m lot we had. We also do not have an electricity bill as we are 100% off-grid solar. Thanks for the video. Cheers Simon
@@SpeakingofAsia Certainly is my friend. We don't scrimp at all. We spend what we want. It does help massively having no mortgage/rent/electricity bill 😉 Cheers, Simon
It is clear i can't live in the Philippines for my $1k income. Because i also don't want to live so poorly. I don't think your budget is excessive. It is very reasonable and its the most accurate budget for a person living in the middle. I would also want to travel. It looks like i have to look at a cheaper country.
I think your right and some want thier girlfriend quit thier job so they pay what they lose everyone different no right or wrong but yes yours is not the normal less than 20% I'd say and thats generous 😂
We own our house on Camotes Island, and our budget per month is P175,000, even here in the province! Electricity is P15,000 per month. I agree it’s a third world country charging first world prices! In Cebu, hotels that are decent to American standards cost close to P4,000 or more per night, and eating out in Cebu is close to eating out in Denver Colorado! It’s not that much cheaper in the Philippines believe me!
Yes, But We all know people who have a Champaigne Taste on a Beer Budget! Live within your means! I live well here in Naval, Biliran with my wife and follow a strict budget! Like your content!

Did you mention health insurance?
No, I didn't, but I should have done. For the record it's 1,700 pesos a month, so not big money 👍
Yes the water meter is different in Bacong... 50₱ in Bacong 1500₱ in Dumaguete 🙄
I'm not surprised the size of your place, it's the price of living in a castle 😂😂
Unusual or unique
😂😂 I would say unusual but I get your point 👍
Per month?
Yes, per month 👍
"dont say paying , say giving" ..... theres your first red flag matee.
3rd world country, 1st world prices. Same with the mindset too.
$1,500 includes all her money she spends and your multiple withdrawal trips to ATM? Or just your spending?
Just my spending, none of Ellen's expenses are included in the cost of living videos. It's purely my own personal expenditure
190k+ I think 🤔... Includes a beer or two lol..
Wow 😮 How??? You don't go out after dark 😂😂
Philippines is not a cheap place to live. It is not a secret in south east asia. Perhaps foreigners are naive
