    Wow, I went into a meditation for a few minutes whilst the music played, I was high in the hills looking down on the clouds, vultures were circling me, two lifted me up & we flew away, shortly after I was flying myself, a powerful bird, quiet & surrene looking down on the world below.

    I sang like this once for my roommate in college while he was taking psychadelic mushrooms.
    He thought I was a bear that was going to eat him.
    It was glorious.

    @naamaruupa Thank you for pointing to the Gitassara Sutra. In it the Buddha does explain the five dangers of reciting the Dharma with a musical intonation. The Buddha explains the dangers, i.e. feeding attachment to beautiful sounds (this too keeps one bound to compulsive rebirth), irritating householders, etc. The Buddha(s) never condemn anybody who chants with a musical intonation though, or anybody anyway. They are ingenious scientists of how the mind works. May All Beings Be Happy!

    Buddhism is generally considered to be not atheistic but agnostic, in that, the Buddha himself did not deny the existence of God.

    "It's insane, because they train there entire lives just to sing like this and worship. Especially for the really low throat singers they begin at a very young age to develop their voice into this phenomenon"
    you really don't know much about it then eh?
    It's about learning to relax and use a part of your throat, definitly not a lifetime, takes a week or 2 to learn how to do it...and maybe a few years to master..
    The fact they sing in chorus with each other is what makes it sound interesting..

  • @DiamondMind

    @JinnaMaghan I don't know about that. The Buddha didn't teach Buddhism, he taught Dharma. Dharma is not a religion. It transcends religious philosophy and ideology. Practicing mindfulness is what the Buddha stressed. In that mindful awareness one can see how labeling others based on their belief (even calling oneself a Buddhist) can cause thoughts of division and separation. Ideas like, my religion vs your religion. My belief in god vs your belief in no god.

  • @DimitriMoreira

    Two things you got wrong there. First, Buddha himself never explained "god". Also, when Buddha refers to "god" he refers to human conscious. And this is clearly explained in the most traditional buddhism forms, Vajrayana and Mahayana. Also, I believe the Zen school follows the same thinking.
    Now, second. How did Adam and Eve betrayed god, exactly? Didn't god create the paradise for them to live in? Didn't he created the forbidden tree in the first place?

  • @BjorksMusic
    @BjorksMusic 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The world was without suffering and would of stayed that way if Adam and Eve had not betrayed God by eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. He sacrificed His only Son so that we may have eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven. If your a child of God the suffering ends when your life on Earth is over.

    The dammapada clearly says that enlightment is the way to end suffering. This has nothing to do with whether there's a god or there isn't.
    However, eastern philosophy(this includes buddhism, tantric, jainism, etc) do believe that "god" is a state of perfect balance between mind, body and soul.
    It's an upper state of consciousness. As if all of us were sleeping gods just waiting to be awekened. Buddha says this, also Hinduism and Jainism.
    Western philosophy clearly states the opposite.

  • @alliant
    @alliant 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'd agree if by atheist we mean he was denying the personal God of monotheistic abrahamic religions. but if you just label him an atheist, the complexity of the buddhist insight is entirely lost. the point of denying god wasn't an end in itself, but a means of ending suffering and realizing the ultimate.

  • @oliverDee19
    @oliverDee19 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    buddhism is not a religion it's a way

  • @alliant
    @alliant 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    the thing is, what he was denying was conceptual models of God, not God as undifferentiated Ground of Reality, Emptiness, Nirvana. to call him an atheist seems to be powerfully misleading, since it puts him in the ranks of those who deny this absolute. he was emphasizing how talking about this ultimate, thinking about it, etc... all of that is just leading you away from experiencing this enlightenment.

  • @TheAgnwristos
    @TheAgnwristos 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    That was what Budha taught though .. He was an atheist.. Why deny that I do not know..

  • @DimitriMoreira

    Christian God controls humanity with fear. He speaks about hell, death, fear, sodomy, lies, torture...
    It's like this. You're at your new job. Your boss is called God, if you do anything wrong, not only you're fired but you're also dead and will suffer for eternity.
    IMHO this is not a good boss.
    Now, buddhism encourages learning, studying, asking questions, works with science very well, to not accept anything on blind faith.
    Guess what? With this reasonable philosophy, I can get along.

  • @jamman5649
    @jamman5649 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yeah, i go by the definition of Religion which is used "the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods". Considering this, Buddhism is not a religion. SO it confuses me why other people consider it a Religion, but i suppose they use a different definition like "devoted worship to something", but that seems like a nonsensical definition to me, because you can essentially devote yourself strongly to anything. That's not religion.

    • @Despotic_Waffle
      @Despotic_Waffle 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      the devotion in buddhism is different from materialistic devotions like that to a football team or things like that. it may not fit the close minded typical definition of religion, but all religion is, is a belief system which people practice and hold with more importance than other things they believe. i think it doesnt matter if its devotion to worshipping god, or devotion to becoming one with the universe or whatever the heck else. people can believe what they want.

    • @Marquis-Sade

  • @TheDeatz23
    @TheDeatz23 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    That is a very ignorant view. You should really take a class on Buddhism or read a book on Buddhist beliefs before saying such things as if they are fact. Buddhist don't concern themselves with if there is a God or not, they simply aim to end human suffering by teaching others the skills to reach enlightenment.
