Assassin's Creed Origin: if you stand Bayek in the desert for long enough he'll hallucinate from heat stroke and see raining beetles like the biblical plague for which you get an achievement.

There are many different hallucinations you can get from riding around in the desert; you don’t necessarily have to stand still. It’s pretty cool.

This achievement was shown on a similar video. I assume they didn't want to repeat themselves to much.
You can also get an achievement for turning off the dialog volume
About the darkness achievement I never got up I just started a new game so that one universe has a good ending for that couple

That's a reference to an E3 misshap that happened a few years ago. I like it when game companies poke fun at themselves like that.
I was gonna comment that too but i think they used that as an entry on one of the other videos.

There's also a Stanley Parable achievement for playing all day on a Tuesday. And by play, I mean leave the game on and ignore it.

@@sauloaa1 You actually get a ring for it if you manage to do that in a ds2 playthrough, hides a weapon in one of your hands, not using bonfires gets the other ring for the other hand.

The saboteur had the chain smoker achievement for smoking 100 cigarettes during the idle animation.
In Shovel Knight, relatively early in the "Plague of Shadows" campaign, you get a cutscene of Mona practicing a dance by herself before she's interrupted by Plague Knight returning to base. Mona's dance actually loops indefinitely (i.e. until you ride the elevator down yourself), and you get an achievement called "Creep" for watching her dance in its entirety.
Luigi wins by doing absolutely nothing should be an achievement of its own in mario party

Nintendo games unfortunately don't have achievements unless they're built into the game itself.

Andres Gonzalez It could, but the meme is that Luigi wins by doing absolutely nothing. If you aren't familiar with it, just type "Luigi wins by doing absolutely nothing" into TH-cam's search bar. You'll get at least a page full of results.

Deus Ex Human Revolution, you get the achievement 'The D Project' for letting the credits run to the end and witnessing the post-credit surprise. AKA you went and made a cuppa after completing the game.

I think "The strong, silent type" from Oxenfree also deserves a spot on this list if you come around to making a community one! In order to get it, you need to not speak a single word the entire game. In a story driven game where the only option to not talk is to literally do nothing until the dialogue options fade away, keeping that up for the entire playthrough is... counter-intuitive to say the least.
It's funny to imagine Jane, a literal physicist and well smartest person in both OXs, having trouble with Wheatley's button room.

She has a masters in physics so wouldn't be a physicist in research or education which you need a PhD. but thats more than enough for government work which only requires a bachelors.
@@69belhaven you can definitely be a researcher with a Master's Degree. I have a Ph.D. (Biochemistry) and 2 Master's Degrees (Chemistry and Biology) and a Bachelor's Degree (General Genetics), but several of my colleagues only have Master's Degrees. Plus, every Engineer I have ever met, has told me that they'd never bother to get a Doctorate. It's irrelevant for practical application.
"Idling" for Lego: Harry Potter Years 5-7 on PS3. No controller input for *five minutes!*
That's the one I was going to mention. I can't decide if I'm happy or not that they removed it for the PS4 version.

OMG I'm so happy you had the The Darkness in here. I appreciated that couple so much, and just being able to hold her was so sweet and fulfilling in such a brutal game, and being able to do it again in the sequel was even more important.
Correction! The Final Fantasy job system was technically first introduced in the very first game, where you chose a job for each character when you started a new game, but this job could not be changed. Upgraded yes, but not changed. The first one where you were able to switch jobs at your leisure was 3. 2 did not have jobs at all and 4 had fixed pre-selected jobs for each character. So 5 was, depending on how you count, either the second or the third final fantasy game to use the job system, not the first, _Mike._

I can’t help but feel that the zombie apocalypse would be the ultimate test of the Mike vs Andy methods. Stealth around the zombies or run through them wildly trying to blow them up? 🤔
From what I've heard, there's actually a pretty interesting reason *why* the series is called "Final Fantasy"
The developers, at the time, were in such a critical situation that if the first game had failed, it would have literally been their final game.
Quite true...not only was Square facing bankruptcy if the game didn't sell (and, up to that point, the most successful RPG release was Dragon Quest), but the creator (Hironobu Sakaguchi) would've had to quit the gaming industry and go back to university.
Personally, though, I think they've gone too far off the rails with it...they could've stopped at 6 with no great loss.
Crime Alley got its name BECAUSE of the Wayne's murder it WAS Park Row.

How have you left The Stanley Parable off this list?! What about the achievement for not playing the game for five years?
I'm assuming you're not leaving the game running all those years. The achievements discussed here were no controller input during the time the game was on.
Think about it, though. This transcends the rules from doing nothing IN a game to doing nothing WITH the game...
In God of War Chains of Olympus you get a trophy for holding your daughter's hand for a minute before abandoning her to go teach Persephone a lesson in cosmic balance.
Patron of the Arts in Metro: Last Night, you get an achievement for watching the whole play.
What about 7 times you worked hard, and didn't get an achievement you should have got. Happened to me a few times, but most recent one for me was getting three stars on all the speed zones, speed traps and danger zones in the main map for Forza Horizon 4. Took me ages to do too.
I wish they CONTINUED that Prince of Persia reboot, with a style more similar to Warrior Within. That would be *breathtaking* 😌
I see what you did there. I definitely got the achievement in the video, for... totally legitimate reasons... yeah we'll go with that.
They probably couldn't figure out how to make a game where Elica kicks you in the balls every minute or so.... she was PISSED that you undid her heroic sacrifice....
There WAS a pretty damn good game with *that* Prince on DS, except instead of Eli you got a floating masked wizard as a companion and it was a 2D platformer fully controlled through stylus commands. Someone randomly gifted me it when it came out and I remember being shocked that it was actually a solid game that was pleasant to play. Then again, with DS it is always a 50/50 chanse - all games on it are either shining gems or complete steaming garbage, and there's nothing in between.
And here I was thinking the worst night of theatre was at Ford’s Theatre in 1865.

In Final Fantasy XV, when maxing out Prompto's photography skill, that's all him. You do nothing.
I pretty much maxed his skill out early in the game. Didn't think of Prompto though
Similar to Gladio's survival skill.... yes there is some work needed (aka camping at Haven's helps the skill as well as Iggy's cooking skill), but mostly its a passive thing from fights...
In a game called 'Cute Knight' if you choose to only sleep in the church like a bunch I can't remember the exact number of times you need to only do that you get an ending where the people in the village think you're some sort of amazing spiritual person and give you money for just being lazy and sleeping.
I feel like binge watching your "7 thing" compilation. I'm needy and there's never enough of them. Brilliant.

Ds 2 was my first souls game so i was still getting used to the controls. Yeeted myself off the bridge before i even got to the old geezers first cutscene... oof
What about “fairy tale fights” with their trophy “lazy bastard” for going into taleville and standing doing nothing for 15 mins Xbox 360 and ps3 versions has this (15points or 15 gold for this one)
The only other one I know of is “Old Softie” from “God of War: Chains of Olympus.” Before the final battle with Persephone, you meet with you daughter. She hugs your leg because she has missed you. Spend one minute with her before attempting to pry her off your leg and you will unlock the trophy.
Not sure if the trophy for meditating a number of times in Assassin’s Creed Origins would count. It is a bit of doing nothing but pressing a button and watching time go by.

In The Simpsons Game you got 5 achievement points for pressing start in the main menu. Only tough if your start button didnt work😁
Uncharted 4's Stage Fright achievement fits on here quite well
What about Deadpool "The First One's Free" which is literally just starting the game, or the second achievement "This one is also free" which you get right after the first one for doing absolutely nothing

Most of these achievements actually DO require getting to those points in the game, so it’s not ‘literally nothing’...
I’m surprised the Darkness ‘Romantic’ achievement didn’t require watching the whole movie with Jenny - and it IS the actual movie.
The Journey bit should include all of ThatGameCompany’s whole library of games since they all have a patience type trophy/achievement.
What about Game Dev Tycoon where you get a achievement for having writers block.

I can’t believe they didn’t include the achievement from The Saboteur, “Chain Smoker.” You literally have to stand idle while your character smokes a set amount of cigarettes. I literally got the achievement on accident because I left the game running when I left to get food.
Far cry 4 not doing anything at the start of the game, just waiting at the table, also ends the game can't remember if there's an achievement as well though.
I was just thinking of this. I accidentally got that ending because I started the game and then went to make coffee. I was confused as hell.

Dead Island PS3 trophy...

Play Dead Island at least 28 days after starting it for the first time.
This was the second trophy I got for that game. Five months after I started it for the first time.
What about the last guardian. One of the trophies for that game is waiting long enough to catch the bird thin "in the act" as the trophy calls it.
Wohoo! Prince of Persia 2008 gets mentioned. It is an interesting, with amazingly beautiful art and sound design. Also it supports EAX, so if you have Creative sound card, the sound is bouncing of all objects, which makes all those ruins even more climatic
While I agree PoP 2008 is a fun game, it's the implication that it was the only one since the original side-scroller that got up my nose. Andy should do penance by doing a complete playthrough of PoP: Sands of Time on the channel!
Master Chief Collection: Just load up each level on Halo CE and 2 then switch between graphics once or twice.

Ministry aren't really a "goth" band, Sisters of Mercy or Fields of the Nephilim would be more accurate. Ministry are industrial, just being picky.
Mike Patton does do a great job of the voice of The Darkness though.
There is an achievement like this too in shovel knight plague of shadows, or maybe 2.
When you have finished the 3rd level of the campaign, you’ll get back in the lab. But instead of rushing head first, you’re actually seeing mona (plague knight’s associate and crush) dancing all by herself. You can cut the sequence by tapping repeatedly on any button, but if you wait for around a minute beforehand, you get an achievement.
There is also an achievement for staying during the full show on the « the end » screen (avoiding you spoilers ;) ), which lasts between 1:30 and 2 minutes.
Who else was pissed about the princess dying in Prince of Persia? 😡

A similar thing happened to Regice in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire and their remakes. Now you had to go through the visual braille puzzles in the sealed chamber (using Dig on a specific spot and having Relicanth and Wailord in specific party slots) to break the seals on the Regis' chambers, and once you got to each chamber you had to solve another visual braille puzzle specific to that titan to unlock that battle; in Regice's case, once you closed the textbox that had the braille instructions, you had to wait for exactly two minutes with no inputs.

My very first thought on seeing the title for this video was the "battle" with Famed Mimic Gogo. I'm so pleased you guys put that on this list!
How about in the _Deadpool_ game? At the very beginning of the game, you get TWO achievements free - "The first one's free!" and "The second one is also free...". You get the first one for making Deadpool stand up, and the second one is earned when Deadpool comments on the first one, in his classic, fourth wall-breaking style.
Kingdom's of Amalur: Reckoning, Reborn achievement. You get the achievement at the start of the game, before you're able to do anything.
I can't remember if there was an achievement for sitting obediently through Pagan Min's torture dinner

Don't think so... i got the game to do just that, and there's no trophy/achievement.... which kinda sucks, not gonna lie...
What about Metro Exodus? In the Taiga mission, when you meet the admiral, if you talk with him and listen to his whole conversation until he falls asleep you get a 15G achievement for just letting him talk and pass out before leaving.

The list keeps on going
Terraria has several achievements where you just have to "survive" an event. That doesn't mean you have to avoid dying. You can go afk, and come back to discover you learned an achievement just for existing.

Monkey Island 1 & 2
Both of them will give you an achievement for doing nothing and letting Guybrush die at certain points in the game.
I never noticed how much I love the piano music during the "beware of the following games"part
A couple of other examples are Proteus, where you have to find the tallest mountain on the randomly generated island and sit still for 20 mins, and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture which has multiple trophies relating to waiting in certain places for certain times.
What about South Park the fractured butt whole in which you get an achievement for mastering your first toilet which you are awarded right at the start of the game

I recall getting a couple of Achievements just for starting a game for the first time. One was SoulCalibur (4?), and I think another was one of the Street Fighters.
Last week I got one just for starting Skate 3. It's supposed to be for reaching some kind of online target score but it's apparently completely glitched.

Nice to see that prince of Persia here. One of my favorite games honestly. Also, I think that was the last trophy I had to get for my platinum in that game, good times and funny dialogue.
Who could forget Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture? Stand around for 10 minutes. Stand in a phone booth for 3 minutes. Stand on a witches hat for 2 minutes.
God that game was slow.

I think you've talked about this one before, but I can't believe Stage Fright from Uncharted 4 wasn't on this list!
When uncharted 4 was revealed (at E3 I believe?) there was an issue where the controller got disconnected, and Drake just stood there in-game while the people on stage tried to sort the issue out. If you stand still in the actual game, you get an achievement called Stage Fright that references this moment! I love when developers poke a little fun at themselves every once in a while!
Harvest Moon Magical Melody has Musical Notes which are basically in-game achievements used to save another character. There are a bunch of Musical Notes for doing basically nothing, like the First Step Note which you get by recieving a pedometer, the Lone Wolf Note which you get by not talking to anyone all day in game, and the Stationary Note where you leave you character outside doing absolutely nothing but standing for a few in world minutes. There are a bunch of other Musical Notes you can get for other extremely easy tasks that basically require you to do nothing.
What about the Deadpool achievement you get for getting of a couch?
You get 10g for opening your inventory in minecraft
I got the achievement Reflection because I was waiting for a player I randomly found, since I don't encounter players often and wanted to stick with them as long as possible
There's one for Minecraft, which is called "Passing the Time", which is obtained by playing for 100 in-game days, which is easily obtained if you just leave the game on, then go on a vacation over the weekend.
There's also one for Halo(5 I think?), in which you just stand there for a while. It was called "Pitchin' a tent".

In many of the Atelier games there is an achievement for failing the very first deadline you are given. The fastest way to do this is to play until you have the option to "rest" at your bed/couch/whatever and then rest continuously until you miss the deadline. I know for certain this happens in Ateliers Totori, Rorona, and Ayesha.
