- **First off, I have a correction to make in the video. At about the 15 minute mark, the Canadian Pacific unit leading ethanol K679 is a ES44AC, not an AC44CW. I thought the 9000 series numbers are exclusively AC44's in Canadian Pacific's fleet.**
Recall from the end of day 3, the rental car I was driving blew a tire while I was leaving Leipsic heading to Deshler to finish the day. Fast forward, after taking care of the car issue around lunchtime (I ended up having the old rental car towed to the rental car center at Toledo Airport, the only center near me that was open, and switch to another car. I was glad that this was all over with around lunchtime), I returned to the NS Chicago Line in Wauseon, OH, hoping to make the best with the remainder of the day.
Of the three hours or so there the train action was quite nice. Aside from the black and white, foreign power did made its way through, including two BNSF ACe's on coal drag NS 881 and probably the catch of the day, mixed freight NS 13Q with a very colorful consist, KCS-UP-BNSF in the elephant style.
Later in the day I headed to Berea and the train action there did not disappoint me at all. CP, BNSF & UP all made their presence on a couple of CSX trains.
Overall, I was glad on how the day turned out. Next video(s) will close out this train watching trip in Ohio in Berea!
*Note: I'm really really NOT GOOD w/ train symbols. I try to get as many as I can through my scanner or asking other railfans around me (if any).*
What a nice catch - KCS, UP, and the BNSF on one train.
Excellent video Allen. That last train, Q165 passes by my place every day.
Thanks, Hans! Thinking back I certainly made the most of what I have during the remainder of the day. It was a bummer though that the rental car blew a tire, I did see a few trains going by while waiting for help.
Never fun waiting for help. It's usually slow in coming also.
It never was. I also had to spell the town name slowly (Leipsic, OH). Though the town is small but two major RR's intersect each other, just like Deshler, little town but a big RR town.
Speaking of Deshler, theres's live webcam now. You can find a link on TH-cam.
Thank you for info Allen.
Nice video Allen! Nice job with the night shots as well! The video came out great!
Thanks, Mike! Train action that day was quite good for a Sunday!
I think one day you should take a 1-month visit to the ND&W (Napoleon, Defiance, & Western RR) to record the world's worst maintained railroad and check out Gettysburg #105 (GP9) cross by nearing the FC at Defiance and also bypass Defiance Yard for a set off. One of the cool engines to point out at the NDW yard was a green NW2R (originally built 1939 but's the oldest than NKP #765 [2-8-4 Berkshire] and Pere Marquette #1225) and a GP20U #3054 buried behind MAW #16 (GP10) locomotive. It's always nice if you see the ND&W to take a look.
That's a really great video, Allen!
Thanks! It was a bummer though that the rental car blew a tire (I was trying to get around a stopped train - in emergency I think, UP ACe/AH solo in Leipsic on the NS ex-NKP main). I did managed to see a few trains there - two more EB's on NS and a northbound CSX going towards Deshler. But anyway, I sure did made the most of what I have after exchanging rental cars.
Nope, but I ended up seeing the Wabash unit in Stryker in Day 1 (first half) of my 2017 Ohio rail hotspots trip, not only, but at least, though!
Did that dash 9 at 0:20 have a K5LLA?!
