  • We've done it AGAIN! The best 4WD dual cab ute comparison you'll see this year is here! Which 4WD ute takes the crown in 2021?
It's the Ford Ranger vs Isuzu D-MAX, vs V6 Volkswagen Amarok, vs Mitsubishi Triton, vs Mazda BT-50, vs Toyota Hilux! The Nissan Navara and Holden Colorado didn't make it this year, but you'll see why.
We cover EVERYTHING in the offroad ute test you won't see anywhere else:
    Offroad performance & review
    Automatic gearbox & transmission problems
Ute towing test / towing capcity comparison
    Engine & common engine problems
    Suspension and load capacity
    The utes we tested:
    Ford Ranger Wildtrak 2 Litre
    2021 Isuzu D-Max
    VW Amarok V6
    Toyota HiLux Rogue
    Mitsubishi Triton
    Mazda BT50

I would by the triton simple, due the the nearly 8k difference between the next lowest price vehicle the dmax. With that left over money you could do all the mods like lift, suspension kit with all the changes to the upper controller arms would make this vehicle more comfortable off road and give more clearance than it already has. For me it’s all about best value for money and what the remaining money could have spent getting a d max instead could get it more capable. That’s what my pick is for the 2021 best Ute of the year 🤙🏼🤙🏼

As I am looking for a tourer, I would buy the D-Max. Why? The relatively premium looking interior totally outclasses the rest of Ute segment in my opinion. Also I admire the 4JJ series engine being somewhat under powered / performance limited to prolong engine life. After all, if I’m buying a diesel vehicle I want it to last and be reliable! I appreciate Isuzu’s warranty as well. It ticks all my boxes and I enjoy watching Graham test the limits of his. Keep up the good work boys.

You guys should do a similar test on all the 4x4 “wagon” versions of these cars as they are super popular with family’s ect and has it of options from 200 series to Pajeros, vid would get a lot of views also. And if it makes dollars it makes sense

Bought our 2020 Triton GLS Premium October last year and absolutley loving that thing. It kills on the sand at Stockton beach, totally ate up muddy bogholes at Freeman Waterhole in NSW and the 4wd Superselect is a HUGE plus that I think you guys missed talking about. And with half the extra 10,000 dollars I saved not buying a Hilux or a ranger I'm slowly upgrading it to it's final form. Not to mention I like it's looks than any of these other Utes.

When I was looking to buy a new dual cab in 2017 I didn't even look at the Dmax, my choice was between the hilux, Colarado and Navara. The hilux won for me and i've absolutely loved it, however the past year I have changed my views on the Dmax and if I was ever to upgrade again, the choice would be between the Hilux and the Dmax handsdown, I'd not bother to look at any other dual cab.

Just like last year's test this is one of the best tests I've ever seen. After last year's test I bought a Triton, the family loves it.
The small turning circle is great, has enough of what I need in a bakkie without being too much, efficient and we'll priced. The 4*4 options are great for a newbie like me. I don't need extra towing or comfort in a bakkie, I've got 5litre V8 Infiniti for that.
Great review, keep em coming. I'd still pick the Triton, the DMax / Mazda being second since I love the brands.

I wouldn't bother with Nissan. They're part owned by Renault and as a result have a Renault master van engine. Anyone who's owned one will understand what I'm going on about! I'd also like to rant that I've also owned two D Max's. One started to rust after 2 years and the other chewed up its own gearbox!

Triton is a great all rounder however I think it should have scored 9 (not 8) for transmission by being the only ute on test with a LARGE oil cooler especially as most had none. That would have put it in outright first place coincidently, same as last year so there's that. Maybe 4WD 24/7 couldn't live that down though.

    • @sorrrbet4923

@@kevinblythe2192 Yeah I think a few of the categories were engineered to make sure they had this 3 way tie for the better watch time. Triton out-performed on transmission, bushproofability, and value for money absolutely. I reckon 4WD 24/7 knew the hate Triton's get from the majority of the 4WD community, especially after they got heaps of it in their last ute of the year when the Triton won.

Awesome guys! Like last year, a thorough shootout of all the popular 4wd double cabs. You picked it last year that the new d max would be serious contender for 2021. D max ,bt 50 are awesome, the new cabins are treat to sit in. Haven’t done a test ride in either, was a little harder as stock vs demand has been high, particularly the d max, seems everyone wants one, wait time is 6mths. Mazda bt 50 have the stock available, pricing is a little at odds with Isuzu. Nevertheless Mazda has the pedigree and. I like the look of the new bt 50.
But as I don’t do heavy towing, and looking at other aspects of the top 3, the Mitsubishi gets the gong. I’ve driven 2021 GSR, pretty refine compared to a few other 4wd that I’ve been in of recent. Love the Isuzu/ Mazda, but it’s the mitsy got me

great vid guys ima 200 series owner and a Dmax owner .My old faithful dmax 2015 model has done 230k and still going strong hasnt missed a beat put a 2 inch lift through it at 45000 and greatly improved the vehicle .Would love a new dmax ute but too attached to the existing one .Im hard on utes ive had several landcruiser utes and the Dmax was the closest i could find in toughness and reliability without the price about 30 k difference .Mine is certainly agricultural and ive followed the new model keenly and look forward to upgrading soon .

Love the vid guys! What would your suggestion be for a suspension upgrade to the Hilux?

I assume you are talking about Doug Galifininakis? Top bloke throwing it all in. I bet there was some apprehension going in with a brand new ute

first let me say hey from sunny Trinidad and Tobago. I'd like to first say what a great job you guys have been doing and I like the fact that you brought all experts in the categories you discussed. My only critique though is that you guys should have done a review of the safety features of the vehicle and had a relevant expert to discuss it. So id look out for it in your next video.
