    I'm so glad I found this channel. I've been playing saxophone for over 20 years but picked the flute up and this is the most important part... getting the correct embouchure.

    You almost made me wanna quit playing Violin so I could start playing flute.... You are super inspirational! I love you and your videos!!!! =D

      As much as I would love to do that, I'm not disciplined enough to learn both! So for now I will keep learning the violin I will someday learn to play both Piano and Flute as well. It doesn't mean I can't keep loving hearing her play flute still! Thank you for your comment.

    This is a very helpful video, especially for some ways to teach embouchure to others! Thank you!

    James Galway makes a big issue of deliberately pushing out the bottom lip, corners of mouth down, very "pouty" prior to placing flute lip plate on jaw with the intent of loosening that lower lip. I have found this, (for me), improves tone quality and predicability.

    My teacher told me not to play the flute with the mouth like a smile ( with the corners of the mouth pointing up) , but to play it with the corners of the mouth pointing down. Doing this you are more relaxed and you have more control of the instrument..

    You play the high D# with all keys down. I find a dissonant tone if I do that. To get a clear high D#, I play G# with all keys down of my left hand, and then press the trill key closest to the G# key, and add the pinky of my right hand on the D# key. Does that mean my flute needs repair? Also, my Korg tuner all keys down seems to be about 20 cents sharper. My flute is a rather ancient closed hole C flute by George W Haynes.

      Looking at this again, if I don't blow very hard on the all keys down 3rd octave, I get G#, so I suspect all keys down gives me a D# and G# simultaneously.

      Adriana Sierra yea we just practice a ton, practice two hours minimum daily is what an undergraduate flute player is suggested. I've done up to eight hours, but I also have a masters degree

    dear bevani hi i got something to ask i got a barsuribamboo flute i just started learning to try to play its in the key of d but any way when i blow to get some sound it does come out but blowing sounds like a tunnle can you help

    • @bevaniflute
      @bevaniflute  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      bansuri flute I have to put higher on my lip - the embouchure hole is smaller than silver flute so it can be harder to get a clear sound. Try putting it higher on your lip and see if this helps.
