I honestly was expecting it to sound the same, as often in videos about cheap instruments versus expensive I can't tell the difference. But it sounds so much better!!!

I understand what you mean about wondering what it would be like to live there. I grew up in Houston Texas, and after visiting amazingly beautiful northern Arkansas in the 1960s, I was sure that if I could just live there in that soft, green paradise, it would be much like dying and going to Heaven. If you are independently wealthy, maybe so, but I'm not. So, after finally moving to my Arkansas paradise, I found that your personal problems and burdens follow you wherever you go, and the paradise you've found soon fades into weariness and drudgery. I've never had the opportunity to find out whether wealth would make any difference in that. Old age brings wisdom if you're paying attention. Alas!
I totally understand the desire for a perfect instrument. I travel to meet my next harp as well. Have done this numerous times. It's tough because both cello & harps are very expensive but it's something we must do. Watching you channel has inspired me take up cello. I'm hoping by the summer. Enjoy your new cello. To us, they are beautiful friends who double as adornments in our home.🥰

Along with my chamber cello 4/4, I just got a 5 string NS electric and the tone is so nice... Smooth as silk. The 5th string is the low "F". I love the sound down that low.
I put reverb to it making it sound like it's in a big hall...the sound lingers.

I thought a wolf meant the cello was very resonant, a good thing. Have read that pro players learn to deal with them. Being far from pro myself, I just got a wolf tone eliminator, although I’ve read that damps all resonance. Any way surprised Billy wanted it damped. Beautiful cello & tone!

It is fascinating that you were courageous enough to order it without really knowing what you will get, therefore the price would be interesting...😉 I wonder how you specified the sound you wanted. Or did you just trust? The translation from my language to describe a sound to the language of the luthier (to the worksteps she will undertake...) doesn't seem to be a trivial thing... Katrin

I ordered Baroque Cello from a Luthier in Buenos Aires. It was about a year ago and he will start it in November it will be ready in time for the NAMI trade show next spring . He made my Renaissance Lute and exhibited it there this past Spring.

I started playing cello only January this year, aged 36. It was daunting being so "old" but msuic has been even more exclusive and expensive when I was a kid than it is now and my parents simply couldn't afford it. Now, it's difficult to discern where to look and what to read/learn first (I'm not a very patient person). *lol*
Following you to Florence (where some relatives of mine live) was awesome, thank you so much for taking us with you on this journey! The cello is not only gorgeous but really also sounded fantastic. *swoons*
