Please don't be tempted to make more frequent posts. It's obvious that you spend a lot of time putting each video together. The thing that characterises your videos is that you take the time to introduce each new concept, so that we can hear the specific qualities of each thing you introduce. This is great for ear training. After years of hearing specific tonal qualities in recordings and wondering what on earth the artists were doing, I now find I can recognise which scales are used over which chords. I never got this from other channels' tutorials. Keep up the great work.

Your best piece of advice was to not try the ninths until one is proficient in sevenths even in your sleep. I'm learning my triads for now. When I started out I tried to follow your channel (which is fantastic) and other jazz chords, I was lost. So now I'm taking music lessons and have even started over with my Level One method books, and really working on the basics. And I'll be back to your channel when I'm ready.

I have to dispute your title - there are easily dozens of tips in this video. This might finally be the lesson I needed to break my "improv barrier". It starts out so easy that you feel immediate progress upon jumping into it. But it continues with so much depth that it will occupy me for many hours of practice. Fantastic!
The slide tip is so amazingly helpful. I didn't know what the blue notes in each chord were until you said just slide to a key that's in the arp. That's genius man, ty so much.
Love the videos, good to know that I use all of these beginner level improv tips. The Dm7b5, G7b9, Cm9 Maj7 (although I use Maj6 with an A natural) I find to sound really well with fall time jazz solos. I normally do an Ab key with Fm7 Bb Eb Ab Db and then those three chords. The B natural adds some mystery to the song which sounds so good! Along with the 5 strategies you use, I also do a blues scale arpeggio (instead of just the blues slides), enclosures, and even tried to use different scales such as Dorian and Mixolydian which I found to sound good in moderation. Video idea may be to break down a jazz artist’s solo and explain why they do what they do. For example, I’ve found it helpful to find ideas in solos that Vince Guaraldi, my favorite jazz pianist, has done and use those ideas to improve my own improv skills.
