I used to teach littles ones that needed aac devices. For sure, less is more in the beginning. Larger icons are great. Easier to find and tap. Maybe start with just a few like, -yes, no, milk, eat, play, outside, plus a couple others that fit her daily routine. You can always add more when she gets the hang of it! Good luck!
Love Sooki's enthusiasm 💜 this could be life changing for the family, and a gateway to great communication. Embrace the learning curve.....so exciting!!
Right now Freya seems jealous of this new device. It was interesting how she put her back to the track or put her leg over. I can’t wait to see what she does a week from now! She is full of surprises.😊
A whole new world for Freya. I hope she likes it. I bet if the other kids show her like your demonstrating on the video then she will like it. You know when one kid has something it becomes more appealing to the other kids.
That system seems too complex but there maybe a way to modify it to have very few button ( words) on the page. Only time will tell. Its sure worth a try
In my experience with special needs children, at first it should start with a few big basic buttons. For example if she wants milk and she needs to press the milk button. If you have loads of buttons it could make over stimulating
Ive really missed watching your videos and precious family, ive been without internet due to hurricane helene for the last 2 weeks but just got it back. We lost power for ab 2.5 days so im not going to complain bc alot of people went alot longer and we were very blessed. Hope your family has been doing great!
How exciting!!!! Can't wait to see how she learns and grows with it! Didn't get your last video till late. We had no power no wifi no cable no water for a couple days. I live in NE TN and we got hit with the remnants of Helene! Not having my cell about drove me nutty! LOL Love you guys!!❤❤❤❤
Hope you and your family are okay. I'm in Michigan so we didn't hit like everyone in the south. We did lose power for a few hours and it rained alot.. I couldn't imagine not having my cell phone...❤
Way to many icons on screen for Freya to identify. Try starting out with much fewer and larger icons per page that correlate to words she already uses. This way she gets used to using it with confidence and you can then add new icons on new pages. If there is a "lock screen" function on this device, it might avoid accidental moves off the page you are working on. Lifting her finger and placing it on an icon while showing her a corresponding item and saying it can teach her how to use it also and doing this on a one to one basis will be less distracting for her. This will be an awesome tool if Freya chooses to use it.
She got her AAC device! How kool...I bet she'll pick it up in no time and be telling you all sorts of wants, desires, needs, and thoughts! Afterthought: check in the device setting and see if there is an option to lock the screen to just the one she uses. Not that it's a big deal, but just in case she accidentally taps something that messes it up. There may even be a lock within the app itself so it lock on that screen.
Whoot! Whoot! Yay Freya!! I’m so excited for you! 😊😊😊. Marci- this is such a huge win!! What a huge relief! I’m so happy we get to celebrate with you 😊😊😊.
How long can you borrow the AAC device? I hope there are good instructions on how to introduce it a little at a time. I would be lost if not. She certainly seems interested which will help. I look forward to seeing how she progresses.
So glad she got that . Hopefully that will help with her communication. So cute sookie chasing the car / train around the track. My cats would probably do the same.. Have you heard of those pimple patches ? My niece said they work great..I've never used them , but they are pretty popular. Supposedly you put one on before bed and their gone by morning or close to being gone.. who knows.🤞 One more thing , i think i spelled the dogs name wrong , sorry..
Yessss!! Thank God! ( : Woo hoo! ( : I couldn't be happier for freya and all of you! Sooo exciting. ( : It will change her world, if she can figure out hiw to at with it! I love she is playing with it by thr end of the video! She is us fascinated by it and that is definitely a great start! Yesss! ( : Go Freya! ( :
I would make the screen more simple say yes or no for now without so many choices so she gets used to using it and then add frequently use phrases like I want and then have a button for to eat bath and so on have someone make it really simpleright now
@@Freyasluckyarm I know how it is I remember my parents and I got new cellphones I had it down in an hour but I know an AAC device is different from a cellphone good luck Marci
I just wanna let you know if she gets an iPad for her AAC device there is a thing called Guided Access. You was going to the settings on the iPad then you would go to accessibility and then guided access then you Would first Guided Access on and then it’s gonna ask you to put a password in and then it’s gonna tell you triple click the home button to start it might have you put the password in first when you click it to start it and then you just start. This should be a start or cancel button. Just want to let you know cause I have done that in the past with one of my friends, but that has a communication device with an AAC device and he’s kind of like Freya
Ruth here, do you have an idea a % of hearing loss? I got my hearing aids at 10 years old, l still prefer to not wear em much at home, l am 64 years old, they do help at home to hear what's being said but l don't like to cook with em on. At one time it may not have bothered me, l forget. I don't know if you can for Freya but l find the person speaking is on the same level as me, faces me, not sit beside me, but you probley have it figured out. This does help me, if l don't understand l ask it to be repeated with different words, it's amazing how that helps

How beautiful the girls are evolved in working with Freya to learn her new device.

She is full of surprises.😊
It is so wonderful to see your other children so involved with Freya.
A whole new world for Freya. I hope she likes it. I bet if the other kids show her like your demonstrating on the video then she will like it. You know when one kid has something it becomes more appealing to the other kids.
That’s so cool she’s showing interest ! She will do well with that new devise! She’s so sweet.
Freya will master that in no time. I think her brain is pretty high functioning compared to some children with a disability.
That system seems too complex but there maybe a way to modify it to have very few button ( words) on the page. Only time will tell. Its sure worth a try
Add brain here, start with less icons, so she doesn't get overwhelmed, then add in as she recognizes more
I’m so happy for her ❤ hopefully she will get used to this device and will be able to tell you things she can’t express any other way.
Такая красивая девочка растет .И развивается
What a magnificent situation that actives are being introduced to enhance Freya’s development. You also dress her darling and do her hair darling
Thank you
Shes a smart little girl and she'll pick it up fast!❤❤❤
Good for her I'm so happy for you guys God bless you and your family have a wonderful day God bless
She was soo onto the pad! You could see the concentration on her face!!❤
It was so fun to see!
That’s so cool!! I think she will catch on quickly especially if she has less choices with icons like you mentioned.
In my experience with special needs children, at first it should start with a few big basic buttons. For example if she wants milk and she needs to press the milk button. If you have loads of buttons it could make over stimulating
How exciting! I hope this works well for Freya!! That device is so awesome especially the eye gaze feature. Jesse is having a great time with it. xo

I live in SC and we got hit pretty hard too, no power for a few days and no internet/cable for 2 weeks. Glad your family was safe as well

So many new gadgets to help how exciting, hope she likes using it. If this doesn't work, I am sure there will be something else to help her.
You Look so happy about this, so i hope she would love it, too.
I think Freya will catch on to it.❤
She will start picking up fast. She is a smart girl. Thank you for sharing. Love you guys❤❤❤❤
Exciting time. Wish the best for her.
What a miracle, now if she could learn hurt & the body' part that's been bothering her.
Whoot! Whoot! Yay Freya!! I’m so excited for you! 😊😊😊.

You are such an awesome mom! Maybe it sounds weird, but I wish I could have a mother like you!
Wow, thank you!
i think if you want her to stay in one app you can sit up guided access on the ipad so that she can not get out of the aac app
YAY! How exciting. I use an AAC device and it's amazing😁
It really is!
Guys, she just got the device. I am sure they will make it easier for Freya to use.
Wooo that is awesome!. I am so happy for you guys 💕💕
You can lock it into the aac device if you need to

Yes, Augmentative Alternative Communication
Hello to your family!
My daughter tried the talking tablet but she thought it was a game, or a tablet. Best of luck!!

You might contact Assa from Fathering Autism for hints on the ACC device. He is always posting hints for parents and caregivers for these.
Yes, Asa is good on helping ans assisting on that part
I follow him. I will have to look up some of his videos.
This is great. Can you bring it to OT for her to get some practice on using touch method. 💜
Great idea!
Hi sweetie I'm amazed at how advanced in technology we are an that you can counacate with frya im your biggest fan ❤ your family videos
Marci this is good news how long will it take to master the new device
Years probably
@@Freyasluckyarm I know how it is I remember my parents and I got new cellphones I had it down in an hour but I know an AAC device is different from a cellphone good luck Marci
Start slow and with basics… milk, cookie, bath
I hope she can let you know what body part hurts with this device.
That would be amazing

It looks like a great tool for all the girls.
Silly puppy :)
I had an RC car a long time ago and my dog hated it. Sometimes I'd play with RC just so she'd chase it😂😂😂😂
❤💕💌💖🍀🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
How exciting!!!
Can you add "milk, bath, eat" or other favorite signing words?
Just because you can modify it, you can make less buttons for her
Need to use Clinique they have an acne foaming face wash
Spot healing gel It will take it away within 24 hours
Great news!
Aww

All they said was moderate hearing loss
@Freyasluckyarm Hello Marcy, Freya, Jesse
how about switching the voice to a child’s voice
Hey Freya
Lol I love playing with AAC devices
Then I can help a new user learn it :)
They look fun
The only option I don’t think it has is the eye gaze
Happy Tuesday
Try first using food items on the device!
💕💌💖🐶
It was supposed to say the
My friend has autism and down syndrome
It’s too complex for her. WTHe** are you thinking? She can’t do it.
