    I sometimes work on vacation photos that always seem to have some trash or electric wires messing up a lovely shot which distracts from the mood. I was lucky enough to go to Greece years ago and though breathtakingly beautiful there was always something messing up the image. The analytical part of me says I shouldn't remove them because that was the reality of my trip while the creative romantic part of me wants the magical allusion. So I have a rather large storage drive keeping both. Your tutorials a big help.

    You didn't mention inpainting. I use the inpaint tool together with the healing brush and clone tool to remove objects. Sometimes the Inpainting alone works very well and I don't have to use other tools in Affinity Photo.

    Excellent tutorial. As always there is more than one way to do this. In the first photo I would select an area around the sheep using the Free Hand Selection tool to select the sheep and then select Edit - Fill - Inpainting.
    In the second I think it's easier, possibly quicker to simply use the Inpainting tool.

    As of 2022, this video is obsolete. Most of the techniques here can be replaced by *inpainting*, which wasn't available in 2018.

    • @OlivioSarikas
      @OlivioSarikas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was and no it can't because it's important to know more than just an automated method. Especially with textures and patterns in the background you need to do it by hand

  • @rgrun1
    @rgrun1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    How about planning ahead a bit? You left a mess on the top sheep that could have easily been blended with a couple of strokes from another source. You left messes on all 3 pictures. Also how about the inpainting brush? And paining a solid color on a textured surface? Adding a blend mode would have made it work (overlay?)
    I am not trying to be a jerk. Like you I am constantly on the wrong layer when trying to do something. But after the second one you would have been well advised to edit out the meandering errors and make a video that is quick, to the point and enjoyable
    Take a look at Affinity Revolution tutorials. HE probably screws up as much as the rest of us but only leaves it in if it teaches something. There is a lot of room for more great tutorials and I look forward to yours

    • @OlivioSarikas
      @OlivioSarikas  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thank you for your suggestions and good work on spotting the errors. You should keep in mind that my videos aim to display examples of a the technique, not provide a finished picture. As such i do not edit out errors i make during the work process, because they act as examples of what to look for. Design is not about being perfect 100% of the time, it is about experimenting, exploring and learning from errors. I have found some of my best techniques by making errors (for example using glow as a blend mode for textures like rust).
      That said, yes i have a lot of room for improvement. So feel free to help me with your feedback in the future. Maybe try a nicer tone, because i do this for free, i don't have to do any videos at all.
