Hopefully this is the author platform. This game is stunning visually and game mechanics wise plus simplicity makes it a hit. U dont need to count "1000" chips to summarize troops strength, by the time u come back to same stack u already forgot what u counted. I really love simplicity and depth at the same time, variety of gameplays of different nations, stunning art...... It even gave me idea (hobby) to do sth similar for medieval times. Like cavarly unit which could "charge" instead of "attack" (white dice changing to black) if unit have some leftover move before attacking and started movement non adjacent to enemy. Wilderness charge not possible. Commanders would replace heroes, so they would have "magic" effect by giving orders to troops in range etc........... regarding this game the only thing, which I would think of slightly tweaking is ambush attack. Sabouteurs and assasins were good at striking the enemy in logistics and commanding structures before main army would come in and finish the job. As i dont have the game it could be play tested still, but ambush attack unit could never hit enemy by 2 difference, and could only flip enemy from stronger side to weakened one (still doing its job with monsters, and goblin weak units), but could not do anything to weakened enemy (to kill him off). To balance it out attacked units could not strike back against "ambusher" during "ambusher" turn, They could obviously attack traditionally in their turn. Probably though to change it now. ........ Something that could be formally or informally implemented though quite easily is critical hit establishment. Instead of black dice roll of 7 or 8 and than waiting for 5,6 on white one, why not just do it 5-7 normal hit and 8 is just critical. increases chance of critical hit on black dice just slightly from roughly 8% to roughly 12%, but saves throwing extra dice. To offset slight increase in probability it would prevent critical hits on fortified town, which makes sense (unless u have war machine of course).... but from what Ive seen on youtube 9.5/10. great job.
@@moellerc1 Any chance there would be electronic version? My sister lives in London and I in Poland. We always play board games when we meet, which is rarely but this e-version u could play any time. (Ive seen some software was used to present a game). From production point of view it would be low cost and u could probably save several marriages ("why there are monsters on my kitchen table?" - type of scenarios), and few cats lives (they would definitely choke on goblins).
just got my copy of the game today, and i am SO pleased with the production quality of this game! Well done Christopher! I can't want to start playing it this week :)
I just got copy today:) and same feelings. I know it will be good. But this exceeded expectations by a lot. Its true art, which is also really fun to play. ❤❤
Exceptional video. Just got a copy today, this will be my 1st real wargame (Uprising might be considered one, perhaps ?). Anyway - I've been waiting for an heroic-fantasy game like this for a long time. One can see you love wargames, I especially loved how you explained what you did, why you did it, why you don't do something, etc.
My first wargame! (If eclipse doesnt count) And it is everything I want in a boardgame. Love how easy it is and still hard to master. Also the hand drawn map is amazing, very evocative.
Hi, why arent units loosing anything when they get hurt? Maybe loosing one white dice, or switch one black to white? And i dont like to tab used units, i see confusion on bigger games. I think i will use some extra tokens. But i realy like the fast gameplay and artwork!
(This is a no judgement question!!😂) You mention right at the start “if playing solitaire”, are there solo specific rules or is this a “play two handed to play solo”? style? Regardless this looks great!
Just a rules question. Me and a brother played it first time yesterday the first scenario. I would like to know when you build setup units and the Oathborn has to setup first if I Build a setup unit adjacent to a city does it start unready and if I built it next to an enemy city is it besieged and that player the Fjordlands cannot build setup units in that city? Example Built iron legion in the adjacent space next to Far Tumed? Is the iron legion unready on first turn and is Fjordland player allowed to build in the besieged city?
Looks amazing, do know of any plans to distribute to Australia? Would be keen to get my hands on the game without paying for the international shipping!
Haha this is a demo, Moe, DO NOT use my play as a strategy guide. You are absolutely right that Fjordland had a shot at Fort Gorod. As we say in our group, that was sub-optimal play :). -Chris
Is there no disadvantage for ranged units engaging a melee unit? For instance, is there no way to "close the gap" to gain an advantage? Maybe it would complicate the game too much?
Roderick, great observation! Yes, that would ordinarily be illegal. I didnt go into this in the video, but Fort Gorod is a port, and ports are only besieged if two enemy armies are adjacent. So the oathborn build is legal. -Chris

I just received my game and the art is amazing!!!
Thanks! So glad the games are shipping. If you have any questions, there is a dedicated discussion board on Boardgamegeek.com

Holy crap I’ve never heard of this game before and I just showed up on my feed. I need a copy of this. This is right up my alley.
Hey Jason! Thanks I hope you enjoy the game!
Great tutorial! I'm now leaning towards picking Burning Banners over Bloodstones, though both games seem excellent.

Thank you Kosmo! I’m glad you’re enjoying it :)
Looks great, reminds me somewhat of the old Divine Right. Count me in!
Thanks PoM! Divine Right was one of my favorite games when I was a teen. This is my love note :)

Same here. Loved Divine Right and have backed this.
Playing my first game on Saturday, this video is helpful - very much looking forward to giving it a spin!
Would love a basic lore video! Don’t give away too much, but a brief background of the land and factions and their play styles would be great!
Cool idea John! I’m out of town this week but I’ll see if I can put a brief history together when I get back to the studio.
great video. Just got my box in today! Subbed
Thanks! Hope you enjoy the game.
Just ordered this game, it looks fantastic-Thank you for this!
Thank you Alan! Hope you enjoy it :)
When will we have an expansion, ordered from Compass tonight!
Thank you James! You're not allowed to order the expansion until you've played all 29 campaigns in the base game TWICE. 😀
Awesome game! I already preordered a copy of the spanish edition that will be released in 2025 🤤

Hi Pete! Solo play is two handed, no automata.

Hi Jim, I suggest you check out the burning banners page at Boardgamegeek.com. Your questions (and many more) have been answered there. -Chris
I am looking forward to backing this on KS. Are you looking at possible expansions or sequels?
Oh absolutely, Justin! The first expansion will move us to the south, and feature the Elves and the formerly Imperial provinces of Mara Mitai
Looks amazing, do know of any plans to distribute to Australia? Would be keen to get my hands on the game without paying for the international shipping!
Not sure how the games are distributed. I suggest you contact Compass Games for info.
@@moellerc1 No worries, will do!
Why didn't the last Sea Reaver in the mountains move out and attack Fort Gurard at the end of the last turn? It looked like he had enough movement...

Hi Sean,
No there’s no disadvantage for having the ranged ability (which is reflected in the unit cost).
At 53 something, how did you build the crossbows in a besieged city? Did I misunderstand the explanation earlier?
Roderick, great observation! Yes, that would ordinarily be illegal. I didnt go into this in the video, but Fort Gorod is a port, and ports are only besieged if two enemy armies are adjacent. So the oathborn build is legal.

@@moellerc1 Thanks much. I'm looking forward to this game.
If the defender rolls more successes does that damage the attacker?
Yes!
