It's tough to make the claim based on a DVD release. Almost every single concert DVD released goes through a lot of touch ups and tunings in the studio. Stuff like this is usually a more accurate representation of what a band will sound like.
@PeanutButterGtr Ryan is not some 20-year-old dude anymore who smokes, drinks and does drugs. I doubt that he ever did drugs but he's certainly not doing them now. He is a responsible grown-up. He would not do drugs.
Dude, go to iTunes and download Yellowcard's live record "Live from Las Vegas at the Palms". Then come back and tell me he is a crappy live singer. His voice was bull before he had surgery, but after that it improved so well.
He is getting married and therefore quit the band to be able to spend more time with his family. Yellowcard were heading right back into the studio and back on tour, so he made the choice to leave the band. As far as I know he is working on new music though.

Before one of the songs at this show Ryan says that they woke up like 10 minutes before the show, so that may be a reason why he's not singing properly. But, c'mon, it wasn't that bad.

Amen. And about Tom Delonge: I love that guy, but unfortunately he really sucks live. He used to be better back in the late 90s/early 00s when he was just in Blink-182. His singing style changed as soon as he join AvA. I love all his bands, but I wish he would use "the right voice" for each band when singing live.

Ryan sounds fine, NOT perfect but not bad. I don't know what these other ears are hearing here making it sound like as if he is out of key or something ughh. Compared to others that really sound horrible live like Delonge. YC tours almost all year, who knows what day of the tour this was and singing every single day, Ryan can't sound legit in every performance. Some people just don't understand! I appreciate this real effort in singing with a little voice crack than lip syncing any day.

I know Ryan has sung much better than this, and his voice is unique in a way that made me feel that this band is better than others, but I can't enjoy this particular version of this particular song, because the vocals are too poor. I almost hope he was on drugs because that would explain it I guess. He should probably choose a lower key when performing live though.
