What is most amazing for how I feel this music is a sense of brotherhood expanding from the performers into space. And what about that it was happening fourty years ago? Gilles Deleuze was as creative in philosophy at that time. It was another Europe than this. Thank you a lot!
These musicians go beyond...anything I ever heard, before or since. Han Bennink himself is a masterpiece...they're all just wildly awesome! Thanks for posting.
@paulmasters1957 I've got trained ears and music theory under my belt and I like this because it's a big fuck you to all of that crap. It's expressive and creative. If you can't hear it, that's your problem. :-)
love the 2x4 piano. saw Brotzmann trio at cheltenham 2008 and half the audience got up and left. fuck em all! Peter mentioned Don Cherry being a hero and an influence of his... just goes too show. love this kinda thing. mwah x
Some primo European improvisers (namely, Brotzmann and Bennink) going wild. Those were the years when Han would steal marijuana from the Botanic Park in Berlin
Und Brötze schon 2 Flaschen Whiskey vorm Auftritt drin hatte - Han musste ihn damals immer fahren, da durfte der nichts trinken und nahm deshalb....... 😮
It IS funny, but everytime Alex Schlippenbach IS involved in a Band i hear more Jazz in this Kind of European Free Jazz. The Schlippenbach Big Bands are for my Ears the Pinacle of European Free Jazz.
@samuraiinCfede I played saxophone from elementary through high school. I could go tweedletweedletweedle all day long. It still isn't music, it's just noise. So enjoy whatever the hell this mess is.
@audiosamples , No, preschoolers will never achieve this level of cooperation, requiring a sense of composition, huge ears and quick reaction. To play bebop is much easier .
@noxure "Trained ears"? LOL. What, do they do tricks? What a pile of crap. Just because it's expressive and creative doesn't mean it still isn't shit. My 2-year-old grandson is expressive and creative, but smearing crayons on the walls doesn't make it precious art. So take your "trained ears" and listen to some Pink Floyd.
THANK YOU PETER 🙏🎷

what a gem, thank you so much
musica fantastica spero che il maestro brotzmann torni al piu' presto in italia
The two by four on the piano at 6:10 is hilarious, plus Evan Parker looking like Jerry Garcia here.
Evan - "The front is where he puts the saxophone in." Bernd Koeppen, jazz pianist, Wuppertal.
Wow, Peter whips it out!
histórico encuentro

" Han Bennink - drums, shellhorn, gachi, dhung (tibetan horn) " ...genius
He was a drummer that liked using pretty random stuff on stage
cool
legendary shit
Wish I could have been there with my Shehnai......

This must be the earliest film of Evan Parker?
Machine gun Peter :)
yeo!
皆さん必殺グローヴ・ユニティーですヨ、今思えば、アメリカAACM、AECヘのアンチ・テーゼだったのか!!~素晴らしき共同体ジャズ~狂うけどイイ! #jazzm
Hermoso! Y me alegra mucho que a los tarados aún no les guste.
@sirakus I've gotta agree with you on every one of those guys. Don't forget Stockhausen and Messiaen.
ya like jazz...?
i used to watch sooty and sweep
don't mention sue then...
facist!
is the sheet music just for show
All jokes aside there’s clearly direction to this. It’s not pure free improvisation. It’s what’s known as conducted improvisation.
No - graphic notations.
Nobody plays alphorn like good old Han.
No alpine horn - Han plays dhung!
Peter Kowald was the alpine horn player then & tuba and bass.
My ears...
Death Squad
@paulmasters1957 well then, if it's quite a stupid thing to play try hitting the same notes Peter Brotzmann does with a saxophone. Enjoy yourself :)
Jesse Pinkman on percussion.
@sirakus You don't like Pink Floyd, okay, how about some Gentle Giant? At least their songs had melodies.
@samuraiinCfede I played saxophone from elementary through high school. I could go tweedletweedletweedle all day long. It still isn't music, it's just noise. So enjoy whatever the hell this mess is.
why? it isnt art? what is it?
@audiosamples , No, preschoolers will never achieve this level of cooperation, requiring a sense of composition, huge ears and quick reaction. To play bebop is much easier .
@dumpsterbot No, it was a very stupid thing to PLAY.
wow that sucks
grow up
@@adrithgor7551 grow up
@@RocknJazzer grow up
@@adrithgor7551 dont grow up then. Some free jazz is ok. Even your hero zappa was on the fence about jazz and certain forms of it
@@RocknJazzer I wouldn't be so sure. Have you heard Uncle Meat? Zappa was not afraid of making very experimental music.
