  • Mark Peterson concludes his quest for the North American waterfowl slam in a single season. This week he is joined in Greenland by Matt Gindorff, a senior consultant at Worldwide Trophy Adventures as he finally gets his hands on the 43rd and final species, the King Eider. Upon arrival, Mark and the crew must ride out 5 days of quarantine but they are also the first to ever capture this hunt on film. As he pioneers the Cook Islands and sets the standard for waterfowl hunting in Greenland, Mark comes to find out that this hunt was worth the wait.

    I used that exact spinner (blue / broadbill) here on Long Island. The wings blew off in the wind, and the salt water destroyed the battery connections. It may be good on freshwater, on the Mainland, but not in salt water.

    Congrats on the feat! I do have to say that was the most anticlimactic hunt i have ever seen though! Roll up on a bird that probably doesn't have a whole lot of human interaction, in a giant yellow boat, barrel rested and sniped. Not how i had imagined it, not how i imagine how a hunt goes. But an amazing accomplishment non the less!

    • @ljp200
      @ljp200 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a bit more to it that "rolling up" the actual hunt with Eider hunts such as this is to approach the bird the correct way. The art is in the approach and not the shooting.

    • @base72588
      @base72588 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@ljp200 think you missed my point! Its not an art to drive a boat up on birds that don't get a lot of pressure, they are not easily spooked. As i said the accomplishment is still a huge one. The rest of the hunts in the video where amazing, but i stick by what i said, it was anticlimactic to see him drive up on a bird and shoot it, there's little to no fair chase in that, kinda like spotlighting deer imo. Might be legal to do some places but doesn't make it fair chase.

    Don't know why , but hunting from a moving boat and basically shooting ducks on the water isn't what I call duck hunting. Not tearing you down about it, to each his own, but that's where the term " like shooting ducks on the water comes from".
