Nice collection! I sold the blurays I had thinking that now that 4k format was becoming mainstream everything would be re released again, but there is a lot of discussion about the transfer and it seems to be a case by case situation. For instance I still have my copy of the Godfather trilogy on bluray becasue as I understand is the faithful to the cinematographer of the movies than the 4k release. I also try to collect blurays of anime, because I dont think 4k updates will be that much necessary. The Prestige of Nolan is one the best Sith dynamic portrayals! I hope someone at LF saw the movie and thought the same, and take some notes for future projects.
Thank you! It’s awesome to hear you have a collection too. I’ve never thought about The Prestige that way, but you’re right! That’s great inspiration for a Sith story. It would work especially well in The Old Republic Era
I would HIGHLY recommend getting a 3D player if you have a capable TV, a projector, or an quest headset (that can run the 4XVR app necessary to play back MVC-encoded mkv files). Since you have various MCU releases for example, many of those have IMAX sequences only on the 3D disc lol. And gravity omg! It's also just a really amazing immersive experience, I think more people would have embraced 3D at home for movies if they'd got a chance to try it since it's kind of stunning how good it looks even with first-gen 3dtvs. Since you love old sci fi, check out the 50s era 3D movies - they're incredible since shot in native stereo on film (like many imax 3d docs).
Thanks for the recommendation. I misspoke in the video. I do actually have a 3D Player, but I still need to invest in a 3DTV haha. You’re starting to sell me on it though haha
I stumbled onto your video. I have a lot of the ones you have. I am a HUGE Criterion fan as well. I was hoping to see Tombstone in your Western collection. Have you seen any Seijun Suzuki movies? He's got some brilliant films on Criterion. I used to work at video stores in my youth, so my VHS collection is pretty good. I still love physical media, I will never stop collecting.
Thanks for watching! I haven’t seen any of Suzuki’s movies. I’ll have to check them out. It’s always awesome to hear about fellow physical media collectors!
@swlegendslore Tarantino said Suzuki was an influence for sure, and Yorgos Lanthimos says one of his inspirations and a film he watches before he starts a project is Branded To Kill by Suzuki. He even did a Criterion closet talking about that film.
I just canceled all streaming services. My own collection is vastly superior to what every service had to offer. I don't appreciate how the different services have us chasing every new thing that comes out . How so much stuff is spread out over so many platforms. But at the same time each service doesn't have a very good selection of film overall..
That’s awesome! I appreciate the show of support for physical media. A lot of the streaming services are going to consolidate and license content soon, and rely solely on originals to get subs for their platforms. We’ve already seen it with Max and Netflix. Dune, DC Comics, and other WB content has been finding its way to Netflix over the past few months. The state of streaming should get better, but as we’ve seen, there’s still always the possibility some of the studios could remove some content forever. The best option is and always will be to own the content ourselves!
Wow, I just found this channel today. I'm so happy to see that there's an actual site where fans can get the unvarnished opinions of Seth Rogan! (And thanks for getting rid of that bothersome laugh.)
Thank you all for watching! Please like the video and subscribe to the channel. Also, comment below and let me know what you thought of this video.
