It was a great idea for the UK to adapt this format into a show for school children. When it first aired in America, it was on from October 1980 to April 1982. It was hosted by Bill Cullen. They tried it again in January 1987 with Bill Rafferty as host, but it only lasted until May 1987. By the way, here's an interesting question from the early 80s show: What 'X' is a lake in Mexico noted for its floating gardens?
I do suppose you're right about that one. I guess it does seem closer to high school age. I'm so confused, lol. I live in Canada, and despite the fact that we're still part of the Commonwealth, I have a lot of American influence on me. The fact that we share a long border is probably part of it.
@mongrelvids I think he's a really bad choice. He's so boring, bland, and is nothing like the late, great Bob Holness. Mayo lacks the warmth and humour of Mr Holness. Hopefull he'll be a temporary host and get replaced asap (like Countdown); no-one could also match the late, great Richard Whitely.
There are so many clips of Classic Blockbusters on here which is brilliant - however the only thing that would make the collection even better is the 1000th edition. By any chance, does anyone have it?
God I miss those days, when somebody could make a genuine mistake and people would just laugh about it and move on with their lives rather than going and ranting on the internet about it.
Lol bob so amused by the fact that there was a Hindu question for the Hindu lady.... who's actually a Muslim. lol
So she's not a "Hindu lady" if she's a Muslim, is she? That's an oxymoron.

Hey, where have your 8-bit and 16-bit videos of the Blockbusters theme gone from your channel?
I wonder what these kids are doing now.

Such a nice feeling came over me when hearing the theme tune.
I guess it took me back to a time in life when I enjoyed watching this programme. 😀
6:16 what is he talking about? The question was quite at random, it just happened to come out?

@mongrelvids Everything is remaining the same, the set, the format, the music although updated for 2012
I've just found out that the new Blockbusters will be filmed at the Sky Studios.
What is the first name of Ms. Mirza and how do you spell it? Does anyone know?
Simon Mayo has been confirmed as host for the new series!
It won’t be the same as blockbusters from back in the day
