Great Review and I actually finished the book with audiobook the day I went to go see the movie adaptation and me and my Mom absolutely loved it I can’t wait to see it again soon and can’t wait til it comes out on DVD so I can watch it whenever I want I really enjoyed the book as well as the movie I thought they did a great job 😊

If you liked The Notebook and its ilk you'll love this. The marsh is the cleanest, least hot and mosquito-feee marshland in the history of the world. And the house is so neat, and everyone's teeth are so great, even in 1953. Plus they never really explain what happened either, which annoyed me no end. And there's another annoying stuff, like anachronistic hairstyles from the early sixties. Hallmark garbage, very disappointed with this, have to totally disagree with you on this review. Do agree that a mini-series might have been better, it was often hurried. That said, the actors' performances are all ok, it's not their fault.

Daisy’s performance was so strong and enjoyable that it did make a lot (not all) of the supporting characters not as strong. I also heard post seeing this movie that it initially clocked in at over 3hours and they had to make cuts. That definitively added to the unevenness of final product- similar to the Elvis movie. Presumably there will be a directors cut or deleted scenes available as extras on any dvd or other release.
Disagree about the one dimmensional characters.Tate ended up being something I didn't think.Then I hated him.Didn't want to forgive him but,then ended up forgiving him.Chase had me fooled.Wasn't sure about him until his one action and something is revealed.I would call that 2 dimmensional or more.Good character arcs all around.Tom Milton though played by David Strathairn was one note throughout the Film.But that was fine.
It's pretty bad on several levels, but the acting is ok and the story is interesting enough. But the pacing is off and the setting isn't believable, more like a Hallmark TV movie. Pity
Just watched it. Def a good time with the significant other. Good fairy tale roller coaster for her emotional lust but the conservative in me hated how she didn’t have kids at the end & it was all about her career felt forced. The man in me was hoping Tate would show some fairytale chivalry & kick some ass one time at least but 6-7/10
Ok. I don't need to see another movie. I normally don't give a crap about the Oscars but if this doesn't win best picture then everything is stupid. Also they should be giving out Oscars to this cast like Oprah gives out cars. You get an Oscar and you get an Oscar! EVERYBODY GETS AN OSCAR!! I. Frigging. LOVED. this movie. This was an easy call. Don’t hide behind subjectivity. There were soooo many easily identified problems on many many fronts - it was an expired can of squeeze cheese. Simply put, Some critics don’t have courage and are doing this for other reasons / subscribers etc. To bs the public and say this is a good movie is professional cynicism at its worst. Inauthentic movie critics lower the bar for all of us.
Zach , seriously , one of my pet peeves is a film critic without courage. We have far far far too many of them. Everything these days falls into “that was good” bucket. It’s almost like film critics are arms of the studios’ marketing machine. It really hurts audience and film education. If you cannot honestly tell the difference between a good movie and a bad movie you shouldn’t be doing this. To rate this as a B I wonder what your film education is? To call this a good movie I doubt your sincerity and wonder if you are “on the take” as they say. Zach I sincerely don’t know where to start and shouldn’t take it all out on you , but why can’t you simply admit how bad of a film this is? Are you attempting to drive more subscribes to your platform ? I hate critics that pander to the algorithm. My two cents - have a higher calling for what you do. It matters and people pay attention. Care more. Take this seriously. Set a new bar for film criticism , don’t be a digital commercial for the entertainment industry. Be a film critic. Walk this review back , throw it in the trash and start from scratch. Tomorrow is a new day for Zach. Be better and be somebody that raised the bar. Everybody and their mother knows this is a bad movie . It doesn’t deserve a B and if you think it does , well you haven’t got the talent for this. But maybe jokes on me and all you film critics do this for money and your opinions are for sale. Man how demoralizing. Where are the talented film critics???? Be one Zach , I’m rooting for you.
100% Yes, it's bad all right. I blame the production values, the script and the direction. The acting is ok, but the way they portray everyone and everything is downright laughable.
@@DC-js4gk laughable . I’ve never laughed at the wrong spots in a movie so much in my life. It’s so bad that even the director and producers know it. You can tell this movie was wrapped up and packaged like a Starbucks Music CD - they let go of the need / wish for it to be any good long before it was over. This director was a look good on the resume type hire , but seriously was way way way off on her ability to execute. Film critics - this one was a layup - and time after time some of you who claim to do this for a profession , simply cannot make the margin call. This one was universally objectively bad. Shame on anyone that panders to the business rather than affirming our intelligence.
Yes, interesting that our "critic" has decided to stay out of this altogether. At least with those godawful Notebook-type movies there were some genuine feelings and some kind of real story, however sentimental and "white". But what a clanger, a raspberry winner this one is. I have friends who still won't see Get Out because they're afraid to watch it. Same to a certain extent with Men. What a movie, but ppl don't want to be confronted by a film. I'm not in the US but wow, that (Get Out) was a movie that said something, even more relevant today. What does Crawdads tell us? I have no idea. Not much.
