    Thank you. Good intro.
    Advance Progress 3 is first on my list.
    When it comes to choice, I go with Better Have Than Without.
    Reversible, Airbag, Split leg, Simple strap and easy buckling.
    I was worried about if I can adjust it to upright sitting. Your vid helped.
    Cheers and blue skies.

    Hey Lou,
    first up thank you for your thorough review. If only Advance did one like this 😂
    This will be my first harness, I am about to finish my A license and will combine this with the Pi 3. At first I wanted to get the Easiness 3, but your review made me rethink. More padding, safer feeling in the air is probably the right choice if you are a beginner.
    I also looked at the Skywalk Breeze and the Supair Radical 4 but Advance just seems like a quality brand.

    • @loums52
      @loums52  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much for watching and congratulations on your new license! I feel that both are great harnesses but as a good all-around and more protective harness, the Progress 3 is a good choice. It also has more room if you ever get a standard (not lightweight) wing. Best wishes and fly safe.

    • @loums52
      @loums52  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! I have not flown the Success 5 but Advance aways seems to make excellent products. It does have a seatboard and though somewhat heavier it offers great protection according to their website. Some people prefer a seatboard so it would be a great choice for a comfortable and well padded harness. Perhaps you can demo one from your nearest dealer? Best wishes.

    Hey Lou, you mentioned crotch pinching being an issue with the easiness--is this an issue with the progress 3 as well, in terms of higher wind kiting (esp forward kiting)? Thanks!

    • @loums52
      @loums52  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does a bit in high wind days but not as much as the Easiness 3. In light to moderate days, it’s not bad at all. It’s been a while since I used a seat board harness, so can’t remember if they have a similar issue depending on how the straps are secured. I was just out wing handling at Torrey on a 8-10 kts. day and no problems. It only really seems an issue when the wind starts gusting 12-15+ kts. In that case, when things get uncomfortable, I just have to turn back to the wing for a time before going forward again. Advance is now coming out with their Boundless seat board reversible harness and I would love to try it! Best wishes.

    Hi.. good explanation of the progress 3, thank you.. i have the progress 2 and Ozone buzz 5 with little air time on it.! Just wondering about your experience with weight shifting.!! I've found it strange compared to having a seat board.! Thanks

      Thanks! I first had the Progress 2 and I now have the Easiness 3 and Progress 3, I now find a seat board really strange and much prefer leg straps. I guess it’s what you get used to. Best wishes.

    Can you please tell me how it feels in the air compared to Easiness?
    I heard with Easiness that weight shift is good. Upright position and direct feel from the canopy. Is it the same with Progress3? Or does it feel mellower?
    I do like the buckles and airbag of Progress3 and can trade off 1 kg weight.
    I would be using front container btw.

    • @loums52
      @loums52  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say that the Easiness 3 is the little sibling to the Progress 3. The Progress 3 is more padded, has more room to pack a standard wing, more protection if safety is a higher priority, and probably better & more comfortable for longer thermal flights. Having said that, the Easiness 3 is lighter and more compact, and with a lightweight wing is noticeably lighter on your back which is great for more hike and fly adventures. I walk about 20 minutes up to Little Black launch and the Easiness 3 was definitely a treat (I used the Advance Pi 2 lightweight wing). It feels very snug and nimble on your back. With a lightweight wing, there is still room for extras but for hike & fly you do try to keep things as light as possible. I also used a front reserve (Advance Zip Light container with a light Companion reserve). You can also take off the air bag protection of the Easiness 3 for pure hike & fly (then it's really lightweight!), but with any significant & rowdy thermal lift, I was not as comfortable without the protection (the airbag seems to act as a "ballast" or keel and helps stabilize the harness in unstable air). With light to moderate thermals, the Easiness 3 was just fine and very easy to turn and maneuver. In stronger thermals, I definitely like the Process 3. If you have only one wing and it's a standard wing, then the Progress 3 will make life a lot easier for packing it in the harness. A standard wing with the Easiness 3 requires very careful and compact packing of the wing (unless perhaps it's a very small size) to fit within the harness, and then there's not a lot of additional room. I am personally thinking about the Pi3 to go along with the Easiness 3 as I am doing more shorter hike & fly flights these days. I enjoy the hiking and either fly early or later in the afternoon. Lastly, I do like the attachment system on the Progress 3 a lot better. The Easiness 3 was OK, but with heavier gloves (though it doesn't't get that cold here), the buckles were a little more fiddly. Not as easy to quickly snap on or off...Just don't fly over water! But I wouldn't let that be the go-no go factor. For an all around harness, flying with a standard wing and if longer hiking is not a priority, I believe the Progress 3 is a great choice. As usual, it all depends on your type of flying and what you do most that determines what to go with. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

    Do you ever have trouble getting out of the harness when landing? I switched to the progress 3 from a Gin Gingo. Never had trouble getting vertical before landing. Tried thrusting my hips out but the bucket seat just keeps sucking me back in. Have the leg straps as loose as possible now and it still seems to pull me back.

    • @loums52
      @loums52  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have not had any problems with the Progress 3. I have the large size and maybe a smaller size would be an issue? Make sure the size you have is correct for you. Try doing a hang test and try different strap adjustments to see if that helps. Most of the problems I have had in the past has been with rigid seat boards, such as the one my first paramotor harness.

    Have you compared the Success4 to Progress3. I’m new to the sport and really value safety.

    • @loums52
      @loums52  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Success 4, and now there is a Success 5, seems more padded and protective. It is not reversible but would certainly be a very robust and safety oriented harness. It also has a (carbon) seat board as opposed to a split leg arrangement. It will be a bit heavier. I have not flown with the Success series but I don't doubt it would be a great harness coming from Advance. See what you instructor thinks. I started out with the Progress 2 and like the split leg arrangement but some people prefer the seatboard. See if you can demo both but the Success series does seem to emphasize the safety aspect. Best wishes.

    • @loums52
      @loums52  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Vl7248 It looks like there is plenty of room in the Success 4 and the same with the Progress 3. I don't have any problems fitting all I need in the Progress 3. There is a nice review by Greg Hamerton (who used to be with Flybubble out of the UK) at th-cam.com/video/4PKk6e7livI/w-d-xo.html so you may want to check it out. The Success series has LOTS of back and side protection as compared with the Progress 3 (not so much side protection) so this may be the way to go! Good luck!

    Do you have an opinion about the lack of compression straps in the ruck sack config?

    • @loums52
      @loums52  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The rucksack is pretty compact and, if I understand your question correctly, I didn't feel the need to "tighten" things up once the wing and other items, such as clothing, etc., are packed. It all feels very nicely packed and close to your body. I hope that helps!
