2019/02/15 - Wow, people really liked this one, huh? I originally made this track entirely in jest - I wasn't expecting it to get so much traction! Thanks for all the support. The sprite edits are all my own, too.
It's amazing how slowing down audio can really make anything sound genuinely creepy.

if you want to get an idea of the kind of "darker" EB64 (mother 3) was originally going to be, read the book series it's inspired by: "The Book of Lies" by Agota Kristof. Itoi got no shortage of things from those novels, most tellingly he named the protagonists the exact same thing as the books

This theme would fit perfectly in Mother 3 if Porky was attempting to recreate Giygas' form from Earthbound for the same reason as he was getting the Masked Man to pull the needles and release the Dark Dragon. It would mainly fit a a regular battle against a smaller version of Giygas, which would most likely be called Miniygas.

I always see Giygas' form to be like a mist so whenever someone's like "GIYGAS MOTHER 3 WOAAOAOAOOA" I just think of the corpse of the masked man or porky just standing up with red mist emerging from them.

No, I don't think so. I think Giegue was originally supposed to be in the game, but Itoi realized that he couldn't fit him in the game given that he's dead.
I'm thinking the unused backgrounds were for the original fight.
Yeah, I think it is likely that these backgrounds were originally for the Claus battle but then were scrapped. Alternatively, some people think they could have been for Tanetane Island in some way and were part of the things Itoi scrapped because he wanted to tone it down. But I think the first idea is more likely.

Script: (spoilers)
After Hinawa's final speech, when Claus looks around, a textbox appears.
Textbox: "The Masked Man froze."
Claus' sprite is changed to the sprite shown on the video, and the background appears.
The music starts to play.
Another textbox appears.
Textbox: "GIYGAS used PK Hate Σ!"
Without the health scrolling, Lucas' health is set to 1 and all his healing items are removed.
A new battle option is added called "Pray."
Whenever you use it, It shows a normal praying scene with Pigmasks at a destroyed thunder tower.
Textbox: "The Pigmasks felt something they had never felt before and started praying for the safety of Lucas and his friends."
The cutscene ends.
Textbox: "'Lucas... Lucas... Help!' Claus' voice yelled in pain.
But his calls were absorbed by the darkness."
Battle: "The Masked Man was forced to use PK Hate α!"
PK Hate α does 650 - 720 damage.
After you use "Pray" again, a new cutscene appears.
It shows NPC citizens praying.
Textbox: "GIYGAS Used PK Control Ω!"
Textbox: "It didn't work on The Masked Man..."
Textbox: "The Masked Man used PK Love α!"'
GIYGAS shows up in battle as an enemy.
The unused flashback appears, but in the middle of the flashback, it's changed. Lucas doesn't fall for it, but The Masked Man did.
Battle: "The Masked Man used PK Emptiness β!"
PK Emptiness is a mix of PK Fire and PK Freeze, dealing double-damage to the specified player (enemy-only psi.) The level of PK Fire and PK Freeze is determined by the level of PK Emptiness.
You pray again, and it shows the DCMC praying (apart from Lucky, for obvious reasons.)
Battle: "The Masked Man struggled to control himself!"
Gives a 4/5 chance of the "crying" status.
I mean you can’t spoil a script that doesn’t exist. Read the description this is a FAN MADE REMIX. And even if It did exist it’s not in the final game.

My opinion on the Mother 3 ending.
I have not played the game, or any mother/earthbound games, yet this ending... holy shit man.
Bittersweet cannot even begin.
However, looking at what they had planned originally for 3's ending, as well as reading a couple of comments on said TH-cam video about it.
Knowing that Giygas was originally meant to be involved is kind of exciting to think about.
Giygas, as Porky said it, is the embodiment of "evil." We all know that you can't really kill evil, just defeat it.
So going with the idea that Giygas could still be alive, just in a much weaker form, it could be theorized that a bit of it was lurking inside of Claus, right? I think that was what the original plan was, to have Porky use Giygas to control Claus.
So why did they scrap it? Because of that beautifully constructed ending.
However
What if something could be done to keep that ending, as well as scare the shit out of the person playing?
Claus gives his final breath, and right before you pull the needle.. some red mist begins swirling around him? He starts coughing again, and shambles back over to the Masked Man's gear. Of course, everyone gets out of his way, because not only is he a dead man walking, but he now has some kind of red aura around him.
Limping all the way, it picks up the mask, and dons it once more.
This is kind of the video that inspired this little tangent, so this is what I think it would look like. He picks up the mask, rushes Lucas, and this plays.
Suddenly, MM starts barraging Lucas with lightning bolts. Each reflection says "Mortal damage to the Masked Man," but he doesn't die.
More and more red fog builds, and each turn you get to see parts of the brother's childhoods in the background, just being flung away with each strike. The mask is in pieces, and then the host is unusable.

@@betatalk64 aside from the one unused and untitled song that fans started calling "Giygas's Theme", the only other thing in the game's files that even slightly allude to Giygas is an unused line from a pigmask that describes the Ultimate Chimera as "a little Giygas-y". it's been documented for years now that the ending was always meant to be brother vs brother.

i find it weird that you've not played any of the games, yet have this much knowledge about one of the antagonists. did you watch someone else play it?
either way, you probably shouldn't get your knowledge of this series exclusively from youtube comments. there's a lot said/theorized about these games that are just outright false -also i think the game's stories are much more impactful if you go in blind, but it's a bit late for that i guess-
Giygas returns, drawn to the high psychic energy involved in Claus and Lucas' battle, just as Claus comes back to his senses. He joins forces with Lucas to defeat Giygas for once and for all.
i kind of had this idea of an alternate ending for mother 3 where once you defeated the masked man, giygas would take over his body and turn him into vapor 2 from the unused backgrounds. (because it looks like claus fused with giygas). i'm aware that giygas should be dead at this point, but maybe the story of mother 3 takes place between the timelines of mother and mother 2. idk just a thought.
It's been confirmed that Mother 3 takes place many, MANY years after Earthbound. More than a century I believe.

when we were riding a boat before porky's fight we've seen that spider-robo-thingy that was when Ness was fighting Giygas. But i dunno, maybe you're right (sorry for my shitty english)

I'm glad I'm not the only one with the theory that giygas can "infect" hosts and live on through them.
Maybe Porky has a bit of Giygas in him, and he gave Claus a twinge of Giygas as well. Makes sense considering King Porkys attacks read the same as Giygas' when you fight him. Also makes sense since Giygas is supposed to be evil and trauma personified, and both Porky and Claus struggle with those.

I saw a comment on a youtube video that theorized that maybe Lucas was meant to be the next Giygas and I enjoy the idea alot. Like, Claus' helmet was maintaining his form and his PSI was so powerful that he transformed into those backgrounds, and that's just how Lucas was able to comprehend it.

A theory: Ness is Lucas' grand grandfather,heres why: they both have PSI and PK,Porky might've recognized a bit of Ness' characteristics on Claus so he decided to take revenge by turning Claus into a human chimera.

I like to think of this as the bad ending boss abd that lucas and claus have to defeat gigas before he can pull the last needle and lucas can call for help in witch a. Flint can come in doin good damige and buffing up the duo b. One of the party members join in until they faint and then another can swap there place or if course c. Hinawas voice pleds woth gigas doing hella damige and debuffing him and healing and buffing the two

Most of these scenarios here aren't really possible because the lore the only real way he would return is probably from porky, in the files there's an unused animation for porky just dying. Maybe you would have defeated him and giygas would return from him because the only reason porky is really evil is giygas possession over him.

Well, he was originally meant to be in mother 3. Also, Giygas wasn't destroyed by ness and company in mother 2, he's the embodiment of evil you can't destroy that. They were simply destined to defeat him and to avoid his attack to even happen in the future, but not destroying him. As long as evil exists, Giygas will too
