Best way to remove a hook. Honestly, compared to doing it any other way, this doesn't hurt at all. Well, depending on your tolerance for pain. Definitely want to make sure there's just a tiny bit of slack in the line and then give it a fast jerk. Just like setting a hook on a fish. It comes out clean and with as little pain as possible. I always keep some kind of anti-septic with me like rubbing alcohol, in case this happens. It'll sting like hell but it's worth it to be on the safe side. At the very least, it makes you respect when it feels like for a fish getting a sharp hook in their flesh and then having to pull the hook back out. A lot of guys when they're taking a hook out of a fish's mouth, they twist and yank and tear until it's out. Now imagine someone doing that to a hook stuck in your hand. Lol. That's why I sort of pop the hook out of a fish's mouth with my palm...sort of like palm slapping the line-tie end of the hook so it pops right outta their mouths quick and easy. If you go-to a hospital with a hook stuck in you, they're going to remove it the same way as shown in this vid. I've gotten plenty of treble hooks stuck in me especially dealing with fish like northern pike that love to squirm around and thrash when you're getting them in the boat and handling them. It's never a pleasant experience but if you learn this method, it'll help you out in a big way.
No. Putting pressure on the hook eye is important. Tying it around the Bend of the treble that is in the skin is important. Having enough slack for the snatch when you pull is important.

Hopefully though, everyone has seen this method on a hundred other videos where they do emphasize it. BTW, my dad's method was to wrap mono, the heavier the better/quicker/easier around the hook shank til the diameter of the wrap extends out slightly beyond the tip of the barb, slide the wrap into the hole which widens it beyond the diameter of the barb tip, and the hook slides right out.
Buried a treble hook deep in my finger this past weekend. Luckily I remembered seeing this video and showed it to my brother so he would know how to pull. Worked like a charm and was relatively painless. Saved us spending several hours in the ER waiting room, back to fishing in a matter of minutes and we had a good day too! My buddy had same,but hospital took hours to get a surgeon ,more pain,cut him to get it out and a big bill.This was awsome moment in sports.Get a hook out showing someone else.He is the real Iceman.
So let me get this straight. You push on the shank to push the hook Barb away from where it set inside your finger, then just yank it out while keeping pressure on the shank? And it just scratches you on the way out?
You push the hook eye towards the skin and the have the line around the bend of the hook. Then keep holding the hook eye down and snatch. Should come out the same angle it went in and make the cut seamless.

When I was a kid, I was fly fishing, set the hook too early on a fish that was a little too close. The fly shot up, defied the laws of physics apparently....and buried itself in my hand so deeply that you could hardly see the bend in the hook anymore hahah. You can’t “take it personally” or bum out too badly though. What do you think we’re out there doing to these fish in the first place.
You can do it with 20 or 30lb mono, doesn't have to be braided and no need to tie knots. Watch Jimmy Houston do it and have used that method with no issues.

It's a lot fucking cheaper and a lot faster than a hospital visit. I've done this on hands, but I'd be hesitant to try it on someones face lol.
I went to the er with a really deep “hook set” back in the day and they actually just pushed it the rest of the way through

First step, have a bunch of people ready with everything on hand to do everything for you and then hold the hook down....
