The last time wot actually nerfed a premium tank they got lasuits which force them to agree that was a bad idea. That the reason they are afraid to do anything about premium tanks
@qvad8078 they do but that won't stop lawyers from calling a scam. Plus imagine getting sued by different lawyers from different countries with different regulations.
However, IMHO, they COULD fix BUGS and UNINTENDED behavior of an item in game, even if people have paid for it. They literally IMMEDIATELY hotfixed the Char Mle 75 2 years ago. Remember that nice "feature" where people could switch driving modes with X while mid-firing the gun, and only shooting 1 shell instead of 3? (even though the gun effect kept firing 3 times, only 1 shell would get out). They fixed that and no one complained. People apparently understood that it was clearly a bug, not a feature. The same could be done with Contradictious (the reload exploit), and with the Gonsalo, since they are CLEARLY bugs.
They will not nerf it. As it is being sold for money, it have to match the parameters during the sale. Otherwise lawsuits may follow unless they offer a full price buyback.
i was ridiculed by other players when i got the gonzalo, i just smiled to myself because i had looked at the stats and compared them to the tank that everyone thought it was going to be like, i was told i had bought a donkey :) leave the donkey alone i like it :)
I'm still salty about the HE rework, which was a giant nerf to my favorite tank: KV-2 and its premium counterpart KV-2 (R) (which I didn't buy fortunately) and none seems to care about it.
If they do it's probably to test the waters to see how people react by them touching premium tanks because if there's not a ridiculous reaction to it that's going to be the beginning of making the game even worse as they make premium tanks super duper Opie more than they even are now but then they'll Nerf it later on after the majority of the people that will buy it do by it is my hot take on it
There is an EU law that covers the purchase of electronic goods. If the item changes after the purchase the buyer can demand a refund! Change as in nerfing a premium tank. A user agreement that nullifies a law is not valid in itself. That is the reason, why no premium tanks are nerfed. When the Super Pershing war nerfed they offered a refund to all buyers, as they had to.
The Caliban is stated to be armed with a HEP shell, which is weird as I thought HEP was only for US tanks, whereas HESH was only for British tanks. This makes me wonder if the stats are wrong for both tanks.
I think that the way to balance broken tanks is via preferential mm. Add more more modules to premium tanks, so that players can choose better ones or worse ones. Depending on your config, you will have +0, +1, +2 mm. Same for tech tree tanks. Done. Best of both worlds - tanks with better mm, but worse stats, or tanks with better stats, but worse mm.
Contradictious is a mechanical issue. Gonsalo is raw numbers being incorrect, and not in a loophole sense that can be patched. It is only fixed by directly lowering damage and caliber numbers.
@lncoming But its a clear bug, so it should be bugfixed. Everything in this game introduced in a form of raw numbers its just the way software works. Also aside interests of Gonsalo owners there is interests of other premium tanks byers who clearly suffer from this bug. So nerf is a certain value lowering that was initially intentionally set. Its a control function. Bugfix is a lowering of a value that was set incorrectly. I think theres a difference.
Here is how most MMO games do this: "Fixed an issue where some vehicles had incorrect values inside the game files". It is a bug fix, not a nerf. It is the same as with Contradictious "exploit"-s. WG will most likely fix those, since this is obvious. So, by fixing , they will nerf unintended DPM & accurcy. I find this whole thing absolutely baffling that WG is afraid to nerf premium tanks. They own them. We don't. We only buy access to those tanks. I would not be surprised if that one court case that WG "supposedly" lost - was lost on purpose so that people would know that Prem tanks are nerf-proof. WG is afraid that people will stop buying premium tanks if they start finally balancing them. What WG does not understand is that while some people might stop buying them - other players who want to support non-p2w games might return & start buying them.
You say this but for the most part people would riot in the streets when/if a premium tank gets nerfed. People have been more than vocal about not supporting the game if their favourite premium were to get nerfed. It's a really stupid situation where players are constantly shitting on wargaming for releasing overpowered premium tanks, but then also don't want their favourites to be nerfed.
