  • Draken International Completes Record-Breaking Large Force Exercise in Support of the Japanese Defense Force at White Sands Missile Range
In a first for the rapidly emerging commercial air services industry, Draken International executed a large force training exercise in support of the Japanese Defense Force at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. Draken vastly exceeded all expectations with the successful deployment of 18 tactical fighter aircraft to Holloman AFB from September 9-17th. Throughout the operation, Draken flawlessly generated 170 missions to include a 16 turn 16 daily flight schedule. The aircraft included Draken’s radar-equipped Douglas A-4 Skyhawks and the debut of brand new Aero Vodochody L-159E Advanced Light Combat Aircraft (ALCA). This increase in flying volume is an industry first and is a true testament to Draken’s commitment to meeting the rapidly growing demand for credible, capable and cost-effective commercial air services.

Back in the 1990's 5 RNZAF A4-K's did a mock air raid against RAAF Tindal in Australia. The Skyhawks fought their way into the airspace and 4 RAAF Hornets were shot down without an A4 loss. Very good lethal aircraft in the right hands. When the HMS Invincible came to New Zealand in 1983 after the Falklands we gave them a good old Kiwi welcome and sent out a war party of A4's. We caught them by surprise off the coast as they didn't pick us up on radar, also they couldn't scramble the Sea Harriers in time. 2 Sea Harriers stayed at Ohakea and did air combat training with us. They found the A4 in the right hands could beat them in a dog fight.

What is Draken International? They seem to have an air force as big as some small countries.

@@michaelisaacman8000 I worked on the Cheetah D from '87 till about '93-94 was WDNS tech. Even flew back seat in a Cheetah D during an ACM training sortie. Also worked in the Cheetah sim helping with the training of the South African fighter pilots.
Good to see the Cheetahs is still flying. Man, I would LOVE to see them again..

Michael Isaacman So if I understand, you have some MiG-21 but you can't fly them ?
I wonder how Drakken do to maintain all those aircraft. I mean, I'm mechanic on Mirage 2000 for the French Air Force ( not for a long time, maybe in 2 weeks I''ll have to find another job unfortunately), and when I look at the price of spare parts, the cost is incredible. How do you manage the maintenance cost + all your charges (you must pay mechanics, pilots, engineers etc etc ) ?
Wish you good continuation from France.
Sorry for my English, I don't use translator.
