In a future where the population is divided by personality types, one woman branded "Divergent" uncovers a conspiracy to eliminate all who bear her misfit label, and attempts to find out what makes the powers-that-be so frightened of them before time runs out. Shailene Woodley (Tris) made the movie the fault in our stars between Divergent and Insurgent and she shaved her head for it, hence the shorter hair in Insurgent. So no ponytail for the rest of the series.

No, that person is correct. Shailene cut her hair first for The Fault in Our Stars, and she didn’t want to use a wig for Insurgent because it was an action movie.

I watched the movie before reading the book and I loved it but now that I have read the book , I'm disappointed. The movie leaves out so many details and good scenes. Also Tris and Fours relationship in the book is way better for example when Four lets Tris into his fear landscape they share really tender and affectionate moments but in the movies those moments are lost.

Swagta Banerjee yes😂that was not my point. Four meant to teach her how to solve the problems in a dauntless way, so the judging dauntless people wouldn’t notice she’s different. I was just wondering why they didn’t notice since she is clearly outsmarting the simulation.🤷🏼♀️
In the books she refuses to shoot her family. She’s being held at gunpoint by someone and they’re telling her that either she kills her family or she herself gets shot. She chooses to die instead of killing her family

When this scene was in the book I constantly questioned throughout the whole book if it was still her simulation because they tricked us that she had already woken up from the simulation.

Um, she just fell on a bed, there was no need for a string, she wasn't going to fly or something. Four pushed her or she just thrown herself a bit too hard. But use a string to fall on a bed? Nope.

Ok, I’ve only ever seen the movies so i may be a bit biased, but I’m fed up of watching divergent clips on TH-cam and all the comments being ‘this film is so bad because it doesn’t follow the book!’ and so on. Yes, the film may not exactly follow the book plot, but that doesn’t make it a bad film. Again, I’ve ever only seen the movies, I knew there was a book series I was just never that interested. The divergent films are my favourite films ever, and too see the amount of people criticising them for not following the book in every single detail is just wrong. So, all I ask is that we appreciate the book and the film in their own rights. The film might not follow the exact storyline of the book but that doesn’t mean we should discredit it in being a great film.
Esmeee I read the book and love it, and I went to theatres back then and loved the movie (I just couldn't tell apart Will and Al's faces lol). The second and third ones are the real shame in the franchise.
Until you have truly loved a book/series of books and then had a movie of them come out and either get it not quite right, or even worse, totally wrong then you just can't understand (if you have, my apologies). I feel that way about the book and movie of "The Host". The book was amazing and I was so pumped to see the movie! The casting was great and the effects looked awesome too. But oh man, what a dud!! It was so far away from the book as to almost be something else. I was beyond disappointed. That being said, I remember feeling bummed that some parts of these movies weren't quite right (and super peeved they pretty much left Uriah out), but overall I really enjoyed them. And I am still ticked they never finished things. I get what you mean and understand your being defensive of something you love so much...but that is exactly how people who loved the books felt. Anyhoo, just my two cents. Blessings! 😊
I read the first book, and honestly, I LOVE this film. Some changes were made, but that doesn’t make it bad, not by any means.

The way how gentle Four is to affix is so sweet. She was so stressed after the final simulation level and he reassured that it looked hood and immediately calmed her down later. The absolute cutest couple, and the second favorite I have. My top 3 movie couples;
- Edward and Bella
- Trix and Four
- Katniss and Peeta
The fact that they saw four and Beatrice after the water scene is just I feel sorry

Now if Insurgent and Allegiant would made like this film I personally don’t think the franchise would’ve tanked. The way it did. No shade to the director(s) of those films but I think Neil Burger did a great job with Divergent in my opinion.
My opinion on the book vs the movie: They did a good job on the movie but they could’ve made it better. For example, when Tris comes back from visiting Caleb, Eric finds her and Four/Tobias defends her. Also, Tris and Tobias’ relationship was so much better in the book. In the book, they kissed about 6 times but in the movie, they only kissed once. Adding on, when Tris comes back from visiting Caleb, Tris and Tobias had already kissed, and after Tris visits Caleb, she does lots of other stuff. But in the movie, it skips so much and goes straight to the scene where they try to kidnap Tris. They left out so much, but I understand they can’t make the movie 4 hours long.

I read the book year ago.. I think in water tank scene.. The glass got broken
iirc, the glass broke each time Tris took those periodical tests (before this final one) because she realized she was in a simulation, meaning she is a divergent. The one who administered those tests knew that she would be in trouble if others find out and told her she must find another way to conquer that specific fear.
Even this was SO much better in book !

Did anyone catch the flaw in the rope scene where she's tied up but burns her wrists free but is still bound around her waist/hips? She immediately runs to the water to quench her burns but she couldn't have done that as fast if she were still tied around the hips and waist. It just seems a continuity jar to me.
