    That's a great collection, Jack! I have 0 Vertigo records. You can't go wrong with those Hammond organ driven records!

    Hey Jack, a great overview and history of the Vertigo Label and artists. I was expecting not to be familiar with any of these artists, but then you showed Colosseum's 'Valentyne Suite'. As pretty much a blind buy, I picked up the 1969 US version of this release, called 'For Those About To Die Salute You' on Dunhill ABC a while back. I chatted about it in my last Vinyl Finds video. Your description is spot on (lots of hammond organ!) and ventures into jazz fusion territory in places. I liked it!

      Cheers for watching, Ed. I thought that Valentyne Suite was Colosseum's first album, however, it's the album that you've got. I've not heard that one. Sounds like it's a similar sound though. Cheers, Jack

    Some fine records shown Jack! I love the swirl, the album art and so on. However I often have a hard time with the music, maybe since I'm not a big prog/heavy rock guy 😀 But there are some great nuggets in there of singer-songwriters, psych, folk etc. I have only 8 swirls in my collection.
    Keef's name is Keith MacMillan. He later started to do music videos for Kate Bush etc, and later on started the The Chart Show on TV in the UK. Great video, cheers!

      Hey Jonas, I remember reading that Keef ended up making the Chart Show. It was a pretty soulless music show!
      Some of the swirls aren’t great, but there’s lots of good stuff out there. There about another 8 I’d like to pick up, but I’ll just take my time. What ones do you have?
      Cheers for watching, Jack

      @@TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf Never seen the chart show but I can imagine 😊 I didn't have any of the ones you showed, so maybe I have the ones you're looking for. At least I have Gracious! that you wanted. I have to make a video about it. :)

      @ that’s a nice one… the UK presses are mega expensive though.

    Wow, Jack, this is awesome. I do not have any of these. I thinkI may have one some modern labels that replicate this design, if that makes any sense. Maybe I got that wrong, though. Epic collection!

      Cheers Brian! I think it's a very popular design and have seen a few labels do their spin on the Vertigo label. There's a few more that I'm after and then I'll cool off with the Vertigo's I think... the bank balance can't handle too many of them!

    Great collection Jack. Believe it or not I've never owned a Vertigo swirl record.

      Thanks James! I only started collecting them last year. I got really into Jimmy Campbell's albums, which led me down a Vertigo rabbit hole. You know how it goes. One minute you're happily listening to The Beatles.. the next you're scouring the internet for info on your latest obsession! Next, you're firing up Discogs...

    Nice collection Jack. Very nice , not seen or heard all of these.. Aphrodites Child is an incredible sprawling LP , Vangelis wow he's an enigma. His work also with Jon Anderson , well worth checking out,, and I've not listened to that Beggars Opera LP for way too long !!
    So many Prog / Psych classics on this label - fabulous. Messes with your head that logo though.. awesome !! 😍🎵🎵🤘

      Thanks Peter! I’ve got a Vangelis & Jon Anderson, but not listened to it yet. 666 is just tremendous. I’m going to go back now and get the first two Aphrodite’s Child albums. Cheers for watching and commenting, Jack

    Maybe a modest swirl collection but oh so mighty Jack. I only have one, an Ian Mathew’s album that was gifted to me from Art, the North Carolina Vinyl Picker. Never see them in these parts. Maybe I’ll get lucky on my next trip to the UK. Cheers.

      Many thanks, Jack. I’d like to pick up a few of the Ian Matthew’s albums… I’ve bid on Tigers Will Survive a few times. I’m sure you’ll find some sooner or later… you’ve gotta be in it to win it. Cheers for watching pal!

    Great collection. I have never heard of most of those bands. The album cover artwork is fantastic on each one. The Vertigo Annual looks like a great comp. I have one record (Gentle Giant) on the swirl label. Thanks for showing the records!

      @TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Randal, I like Gentle Giant. I came close to buying the Octopus album earlier in the year. Like you say, the cover art is brilliant. Very distinctive and very surreal. Cheers for watching, Jack

    The vertigo label is one I have not been aware of until I watched the VC videos.
    I don't have any or have seen any in my years of collecting.
    Thanks for sharing your albums and I'm sure many that I would enjoy. Greg

    • @TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf
      @TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Greg, I’d imagine they’re just a bit more readily available in the UK. Though the US swirls are a bit more reasonably priced than the UK pressings when I see them on Discogs. There’s lots of good albums on the label though some are insanely expensive. Always nice to find one at a good price! Thanks for watching and commenting pal! Jack

    Great seeing your Vertigo albums.
    I see plenty of them around, but the prices have just got ridiculous, so unless I stumble across any for cheap, I'm loathed to fork out for them.
    The only OG one I have is Rod Stewarts' Gasoline Alley which is a great record.( and was cheap).
    I have a reissue on Repertoire of Affinity and also Linda Hoyles' solo record ( which I believe the OG is the rarest and most expensive of all of them).

    • @TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf
      @TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cheers Rob, you're right... some of the prices are obscene. Especially for records that are in VG condition. I've been lucky with my pickups and only splashed out on the Affinity... though in hindsight, I'd have just been as happy with a reissue. I'd like to pick up Gasoline Alley and really like the early Rod stuff... I've seen it for around a tenner in decent nick. Also, love to pick up the Linda Hoyle solo album. I've see it a few times in shops for in excess of 800 quid. Crazy prices! Cheers for watching pal!

    Yo Jack - I too picked up a Vertigo swirl last month - with a twist ! Stay tuned - nice collection- I have the boring ones (Quo , Rod Stewart and Sabbath 4) too - they tend to be very expensive which goes against my thrifty nature!

    • @TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf
      @TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm intrigued! A swirl with a twist. I'm quite keen to pick up the Rod ones. Like a bit of early Rod. Yep, generally speaking they are too expensive for me too, but if the price is right I'll dive in. Cheers for watching!

    I know all the artists shown but the only Album i have a copy of is 666 which is probably the most readily available one

    TBH Jack I only new of the Vertigo swirl from Black Sabbath for a long time, so was shocked when I realised that not everything on the label was full of slabs of oozing heaviosity. Also Rockin' Rod. I have a double cd comp of Vertigo stuff & it's mostly really good. There are some moments of extreme prog twee in there too. That Jimmy Campbell album cover could go on the list of worst album covers imho. Clowns are never good 😂I've been looking for Colosseum. Cheers...Ben

    • @TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf
      @TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Ben, I'd like the Sabbath swirls, but too expensive generally and there's other things higher up my wantlist. 😂 I love the Jimmy Campbell cover! It's probably one of my favourite covers of all time (and the album). It's so bold and surreal and weird. If you want to see a real stinker, check out the cover to his next album The Jimmy Campbell Album... now thats a stinker! Picked that up for £2 and I'm sure it's because the previous owner just thought it was cheap garbage cause of the cover. Valentyne Suite is a good one to pick up for a more reasonable price... especially on the Bronze label. Cheers for watching and commenting, Jack
