In that case, most of the times relatives married that person with the deceased spouse younger siblings or cousin so the 9th house was prominent. However, in today's world 2nd house (8th from 7th house) is more relevant as 8th from any house shows ending and therefore new beginning. 2nd marriage is therefore should be seen for 2nd marriage.
