It’s really important to me but not only because I got interested in pianos, it really helped me in my love life and how to be happier with myself. I’m still far, but at least I’m going somewhere
This series started the seed in my heart that would eventually grow to have me actually enjoy playing the piano instead of viewing it as a chore as well as getting me through some really rough times so I'm forever indebted and grateful to this series
@@nightwolf1289 this pianists voicing, phrasing, dynamics and control are exceptional. This guy defintly put a lot of work into this piece. Im playing this piece myself and its incredibly complex with alot of diffrent voices.
Now I understand why Kaori really wants to play this piece. But, she didn't make it, to play the piece together with Kousei. T.T Then in Kousei's mind, they finally play together...then it happened T.T
Dammit... this song always makes me cry. After all these months, and yet still, I shed these tears. Your Lie in April truly has left its mark in my heart. There's no anime like it. This will, and shall, be the best anime I have ever encountered.....
i dont get why people are mad or annoyed from your lie in april comments, its like what ever its expanding this beautiful classical. so they can comment what ever they want
she was not a very good mother, but she still loved arima very much so and did her best in the absence of the father. as he got older, arima realised that. her send-off and redemption arc was definitely a tear jerker.
Arigato gosaimasu. Was a great anime, my favorite one. All those tears, damn this anime had a soul and a heart. When it ended it felt like someone died.
+Defne Koyun Of course she died, but it was like it was more someone that really met, I really knew. Usually I don't cry when a character die in an anime.
ItzGoldDaLoneWolf0 Really? Wow that guy is pretty good. I wish I could play the classical pieces as well, like Love's Sorrow. But I'm just a rookie I guess. I'm not gonna admit I'm a good pianist until I play Love's Sorrow. Its a very difficult piece for me and I haven't gotten much experience (even after 4 years on piano) and enough courage to play it. I guess I should keep practising other good, simple classical music until I get enough experienced to play this wonderful piece called 'Love's Sorrow'.
Even though there's a piece called "Love's Joy", I feel like this piece goes through all of the emotions of love. The longing at the beginning (0:00), the mutual love (0:41), the content feeling of each other (1:21), the heartbreak (2:19), then the falling back in love (3:25), with either someone new or old.
My friend: Yo dude listen to this sick beat drop in this dubstep song Me, an intellectual (/s obviously): Yeah, but you ever just *felt* the drop at 2:30?
If you type Liebesleid (the german name) this is the second thing that pops up and that's not even fair cause the first one is actual Kreisler playing it :D
Started playing piano at 7 and then stopped at 15. Started playing again at 17 thanks to this anime now I'm 19 and I can't spend a day away from my keyboard anymore :) Gonna learn this soon lol
Watched this anime three times, the pianist of this piece was truly amazing, I can't find other performers played better than this. You can feel the emotion from sad-> sweet memories -> relief, no regret
Boy do I try to forget the tragedy by consolidating myself that this is just anime nothing real and boy does it ends as me crying even harder Fact of the millennium: do what you can but an anime fan can never consider an anime tragedy as "just a part of an animated story"
even the way this piece was played ALONE is enough to bring me to tears. The playing PERFECTLY conveys 'liebeslied' and I really praise the show for this. This is the best cover of the OG piece out there, and I prefer this to be honest since it just shows so much emotion. This piece is beautiful.
such a great piece. dynamics work so well with range and the contrast is outstanding. that soft touchey runs at 1:48 versus those massive, powerful, heavy chords at 2:35. kreygasm
The music in itself actually reflects the story of shigatsu. The beginning is 'happy' but is dreaded with the minors at each phrase, hinting sadness. This could reflect Kouseis ever present sadness. However the piece is suddenly uplifting, could be symbolising the meeting of Kaori or when Kousei began playing the piano again with kaori. However the piece suddenly takes a turn for the worst as there is confusion and chaos, (might be representing Kaori's sudden absence or death?? idk if this happens) but the piece slowly returns back to its original theme with less minors but the melody appears to be dragging and slow. Again, could be representing the MC's feelings.
i first watched your lie in april around february ~ march this year。 as a pianist and anime fan myself、i fell in absolute love with this anime; the extraordinary soundtrack、 classical compositions featured within the performances、 the likeable characters、 beautiful animation、 heart-wrenching story and so on... i couldn't help but become obsessed with it! every time i listen to this piece、i honestly just feel like breaking down and crying。when i grow older and improve with my piano playing、i would push myself so hard to study and play this amazing piece。i hope one day i can perform this in front of a crowd、just like what kousei did、and have this anime as a reminder to pursue my motivation... i hope one day i'll soon be able to truly inspire others、just like what kousei did too、so they can also become fascinated of the piano 。i understand that he's just an anime character、nonexistant within this reality、but i haven't ever been so emotionally attached and connected to something so relatable。 sorry if my english is bad... i put in a lot of effort to make myself clear。
Same here and I've gotten to the point of being good enough to learn it so I've started learning the piece slowly but surely I'll get it done! Ever since discovering it in Your Lie in April it has been my favorite piano composition ever and Rachmaninoff has been my favorite composer
Its nice being a classical pianist to hear a lot of great pieces be featured in Your Lie in April but its getting annoying seeing people mention it on every video of a featured piece, and seeing thousands of "he's the real arima kousei" on every video with a little kid. Dont get me wrong I like the anime a ton but its kinda strangling the classical music community on youtube
Jack Jewell I agree, but then I think Chopin seems more entertaining to listen to than mainstream classical because of his high demand of technique and his unpredictable style. It is more fun to listen to really difficult pieces for people who don't usually listen to classical music (please don't get me wrong, Beethoven and Mozart have many pieces just as demanding on techniques and control, it's just not as obvious for people who have not actually played the piece). But I think for the most part Chopin fits the plot line more as Kousei is this technique-wise perfect pianist. ALTHOUGH I would really want to listen to more Beethoven and Mozart!
Jack Jewell I mean Kousei did play it when he was a kid (just parts of it), although it wasn't fun to watch tiny Kousei suffering it was nice listening to it. BUT I really want to hear Adagio Cantabile from Beethoven, it's nice to see a more expressive than technically-demanding piece once in a while.
***** We ARE happy that more people are listening to classical music now, I am even happier about the fact that it was because of an anime. And when I saw comments under classical music videos (with pieces that were performed in the anime of course) saying "Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso brought me here" or stuff like that, I was happy that they care enough to listen to the original. What I don't like, however, is that they start to pop up under every single video with music that are played in the anime and start commenting with aspects from the anime. Some say that Shigatsu's pianists play a piece better, some say they like Shigatsu's version better, some compare a real life pianist to Kousei by their skills, etc. When there are people who talk as if they have understood the piece and studied the piece thoroughly when, in reality, they have only watched an anime with it, they are starting to get annoying. When people are commenting under almost every single video (with a piece played in Shigatsu) not for the music that everybody's enjoying but for an anime that just happened to have the music in there, that's when it starts to get on my nerves. The reason why weeaboos tend to have a bad reputation among internet (and real life) is mostly due to their ignorance to the actual thing (whether it is sport, music, etc.) because a lot of them talk like they have understood the whole thing -- by simply watching an anime series. What I have stated is my personal opinion, and, maybe, I am the negative kind of fan that isn't doing the right thing for classical music. But nevertheless, I still feel that there is nothing wrong with classical fans feeling disturbed when their community is almost "invaded" (as there is a large number of comments under many videos) by others.
Sakata is truly a great performer, This is the most well performed version of this piece I've ever heard, Perfect dynamics. I prefer it even to Rachmaninoff's performance. Virtuoso transcription, performed by a virtuoso artist, truly makes me marvel at the creativity of humanity!
This is one of the few anime I do not think I could ever watch a second time. It said everything it needed to say the first time around, Ill never be the same.
I dont care what anybody says, when I want to show my friends my dream song on piano you best believe I'm pulling up this one and not any other one. This is by far the best performance, so much so that I'm unable to focus on my homework as I hear a rendition of an already beautiful songs as beautiful as this one, and I write a comment like this.
I would HUGELY recommend Nodame Cantabile, a grown-up classical music anime/manga from which the mangaka and film creator of Your Lie In April took a lot of imagery, themes, etc. YLIA wasn't ripping off NC, but it was definitely a youthful answer to it. NC has a staggering number of complete or substantial performances in it and a lot of historical and biographical information about the pieces.
Thomas Hofheinz yes nodame has been one of my favorite musically oriented anime before this came along. Nodame's a little more realistic compared to Shigatsu, but both have their own strengths. If you liked Shigatsu, you're probably going to like Nodame. :)
*Kousei* : "Mom, there are Love's Happy and Love's Sorrow, Why do you only play Love' Sorrow?" *Kousei's Mom* : "I play it, so you will get used to feel Sadness".
Almost 2 years ago, a girl that I loved with all my passion left me. I was broken and shattered in pieces, then I discovered this beautiful piece. I started to learn it and it helped me focalize all my feelings in my violin. The day I was performing I couldn't do anything but remember her while playing and I couldn't hold my tears. I was congratulated not only for how I played but aslo how my feelings arrived without any words. Music is power! Thanks Kreisler for such an amazing piece!
This is honestly the best interpretation I've heard of this song. I can hear the great dynamics in the other renditions, but this one speaks to me. Which is funny considering the player was underwater while having a mental breakdown. I really, really, REALLY would love to learn this song and play this. Sadly I overestimated and my piano teacher was right, it'll take 2 years until I can play this song the way I want to, but liebeslied along with scriabins op 8 no 12 are waiting, and I can't wait to tackle them.
+one eyed him I really dont like live action movies, all of them are horrible compared to the anime, especially parasyte: the maxim's live action movie, it's simply horrible, at least compared to the anime, and this one has the same trend. this is why I don't watch as many movies these days.
DissolveTheKitten DTK i think it's because drawings are like your 'imagination', and, lets face it, your imagination is usually better in every way than real life.....
I finally had the courage to ask my teacher to learn this piece, she didnt reject but she surely had some doubts, i guess im not playing it any time soon but hopefully do in this lifetime yeee
This is still the best rendition of this piece. This entire recording is perfect. Haven’t found a better one, when I learned this piece I only liked this one. You can really tell how hard the performer worked with how complex the voicing is in this piece.
This show really brings to light the true meaning of classical music. You have a drive deep within no matter what you play and you should never be afraid to let it show!:) Best soundtrack and best anime I have ever watched! Plus the art was fantastic too!:) As an lover of the classics this show hit home for me!:)
As someone studying the piece right now, I seriously doubt Kousei would have been able to reach these chords that are multiple notes past an octave. My grown ass adult hands having to roll a huge chunk of these left hand notes to play them lol. Thanks, Rachmaninoff, for assuming we all have huge hands when you transcribed this to piano. :P
I’m feeling so many feelings and I want them to go away but stay with me forever at the same time. I’m not sure who I am. My mom said that she feels like doesn’t know me, and as I said, even I don’t. I don’t know how to open up to really anyone but random strangers I’ll never meet on this strange thing we call the internet, but I’m glad that there’s always at least one person that will be able to relate, or give advice, or even the people that say rude things. All those people care enough to leave their mark on wha I say and knowing that others are out there make me feel so much better about myself and my journey. So, thank you. I don’t know you, so I won’t say that I love you, but I’m glad you took time to listen to what I threw into this sea of thoughts and concerns and problems larger than my own. Update: my journey continues, I’m not too much better than I was, but any forward movement is improvement, right?

@@marykyleighebrada6798 upload your version of this piece, i would love to hear it!

there's such a rage of emotions when he plays it.

That's because the artist is Rachmaninoff himself, according to the description

"So that you'll get used to sorrow."
I wish they told us who played the piano for Arima in real life. I want to praise this guy.

2:30 What a spiral of emotions. So incredibly bittersweet.
My friend: Yo dude listen to this sick beat drop in this dubstep song
Me, an intellectual (/s obviously): Yeah, but you ever just *felt* the drop at 2:30?
I love how if you just type in love's sorrow, this is the first thing that pops up.
Yeah, lol well it's prob just popular, I know I love this song, I liked Fur Elise better though.
Jeffrey Wang That's probably cause it's better known by its German name 'Liebesleid'.
If you type Liebesleid (the german name) this is the second thing that pops up and that's not even fair cause the first one is actual Kreisler playing it :D
Started playing piano at 7 and then stopped at 15. Started playing again at 17 thanks to this anime now I'm 19 and I can't spend a day away from my keyboard anymore :)

Honestly i enjoyed chopins opus 25no.5 etude and chopins ballade no.1 the most
boofuls gaming Didn’t like Ballade for some reason. Wasn’t my cup of tea. Chopin op25 no5 Etude was good though.
Not only the pianist is incredible, also the audio engineer has done an incredible job. Like holy moly, it sounds so perfect!!
Boy do I try to forget the tragedy by consolidating myself that this is just anime nothing real and boy does it ends as me crying even harder
Fact of the millennium: do what you can but an anime fan can never consider an anime tragedy as "just a part of an animated story"
I‘m quite sure there have been enough similar occurrences to most stories to justify viewing them as real.
even the way this piece was played ALONE is enough to bring me to tears. The playing PERFECTLY conveys 'liebeslied' and I really praise the show for this. This is the best cover of the OG piece out there, and I prefer this to be honest since it just shows so much emotion. This piece is beautiful.

:o Rikka
Wow I never noticed that, good catch
i first watched your lie in april around february ~ march this year。 as a pianist and anime fan myself、i fell in absolute love with this anime; the extraordinary soundtrack、 classical compositions featured within the performances、 the likeable characters、 beautiful animation、 heart-wrenching story and so on... i couldn't help but become obsessed with it! every time i listen to this piece、i honestly just feel like breaking down and crying。when i grow older and improve with my piano playing、i would push myself so hard to study and play this amazing piece。i hope one day i can perform this in front of a crowd、just like what kousei did、and have this anime as a reminder to pursue my motivation... i hope one day i'll soon be able to truly inspire others、just like what kousei did too、so they can also become fascinated of the piano 。i understand that he's just an anime character、nonexistant within this reality、but i haven't ever been so emotionally attached and connected to something so relatable。
sorry if my english is bad... i put in a lot of effort to make myself clear。
Same
Same here and I've gotten to the point of being good enough to learn it so I've started learning the piece slowly but surely I'll get it done!
Dont get me wrong I like the anime a ton but its kinda strangling the classical music community on youtube
i feel you, i appreciate that people actually started caring about classical music but it's starting to get on my nerves a little.
Give it a few months, everyone will forget about it soon enough.

Sakata is truly a great performer, This is the most well performed version of this piece I've ever heard, Perfect dynamics.

Man. So great.

This was such a great scene :P
But i have to say best thing about Nodame is her way of living.... best oddball ever.
Thomas Hofheinz yes nodame has been one of my favorite musically oriented anime before this came along. Nodame's a little more realistic compared to Shigatsu, but both have their own strengths. If you liked Shigatsu, you're probably going to like Nodame. :)

You underestimate the power of a prodigy
