As a cellist myself I gladly admit that this guy cuts shit up BIG TIME. Plus, it's not simply a technical display, even if a display piece, but instead he really reaches into the emotional expression that the piece allows. Nicely done.
You can tell he spent a very long time this piece by the way he plays and by the way he adds some parts that are not in music like it’s part of the piece. Bravo, an amazing performance! 🤩
Always fantastic to hear you and cello playing... one of my favourites musics... fantastic work of fingers!!! Magical! Love your personal version of this music... and we can not wait to see you again in Porto, in Casa da Música (Portugal)! Love and kisses
Wonderful! Very well played. Parts of this rhapsody remind me of the soulful sounds of the Romanian composer Porumbescu's Balada. I wonder if they knew each other in their coinciding lifetimes.
It is a really unique instrument and very pretty I agree!! It was actually owned by the great cellist and composer Luigi Boccherini. It was made by Antonio Stradivari in the mid 1690's. It has since been cut down and made smaller for some reason. It was lost to time at some point and then rediscovered in the mid-late 1900s in London, UK. Soltani is the first cellist to really put it to use since its rediscovery which is really cool. It is quite lucky that we get to hear such an amazing instrument with such a unique history!!
@@jamesjordan4796 thanks for the information...I really love it... Coz of this video I decided to learn cello .. been learning about 7 months already and I just got distinction grade 2 ABRSM
So beautiful.kheyli ziba. I guess sometime classical iranian musique and hungarian are close. I remember a lecture about Persian roots of Hungarian musique when i was in the university of Pecs🌘🎼
Justin Louie that’s the beautiful things about cadenzas, there are no rules. The cadenza in the original piece is basically just a suggestion. Traditionally, cadenzas were actually made up on the spot if I remember correctly. So there’s nothing wrong with playing it differently.
What beautiful tones & sounds! A breathtaking job! The melodies are partially the same from LISZT'S Hungarian RHAPSODIES! It's from his piece! So...please don't think the composer is David Popper!!! It's the LISZT'S creation! Anyways, bravo ! On the performance!

"Hungarian" here actually most likely refers to gypsy music, a common notion 19th century Europeans had (same for the Hungarian Dances Brahms wrote)
What a jumpy piece!! I love Popper!!!
Amazing
Bello; gracias.
Bendiciones el creador siga llenando su vida de amor por la música y su hijo bendito de Dios le proteja gracias 🌴🕎

Of course the composer was from Praha but in this period the hungarian influence was important in the austro hungarian empire.

@@marchajohnson734 Yes ! 💜🥁🐉🎤💞
@@marchajohnson734 Yes. But Liszt wrote 'em all based on the old Hungarian music !!! 💜🥁🐉🎤💞
It’s Poppers compostition… he just quoted Liszt a few times, that doesn’t mean he didn’t write it

Very skilled cellist, but I hate this interpretation.
