  • car made loud clunking when going over bumps. replacing rear shocks and mounts help helped ride quality but didn't resolve clunking noise. the sway bar bushing in the rear and front were the problem which solved the issue.

You should use the rubber bottom out buffer thing, the dust cover actually pushes up onto it making a seal so nothing gets on the cylinder resulting in wear on the seal but good shit!

Thanks fam, I’ve got a 2012 with 225,000 miles that needs the shocks bad. The dampener things that you didn’t install are completely eaten away and I’ve been stressing all day because I planned on getting these shocks on tomorrow but I can’t buy the dampeners locally. She’s a beater that isn’t going to much much longer anyway, thanks for giving me an excuse to just not use the plastic/rubber things lol

@DangMlay awesome.. thanks. That customer works at a part store. They were on limited funds, to be honest. Replacing those would've been the proper route for sure

Shouldn’t touch the piston rod with dirty hands. Dust and dirt will damage the shock seals

...and they clicked and clacked on down the road....
The rubber bumper is important, hit the old mount with a hammer and get it out and on
