  • Welcome to the Oodnadatta Track!! Have you been???
In this episode we hit one of Australia's most well known outback touring routes. We take you from Maree to William Creek to Coober Pedy!! Along the way we cop a flatty and show you how to repair it with a plugga....We also stop in at Coward Springs for a camp and a dip in the artesian Hot Tub!!
Come along for the ride and drop a comment below to let us know what ya think.

The handle for the wind up jack being the wrong way around! 😂 so funny!
My dad took me and the family along here as kids, the local cop said, yeah, you’ll be right.

Try putting the handle on ya Jack around the other way so the handle part is facing away from the jack.

And also, always place the “loose” wheel under the vehicle in case the jack fails or slips.

Hey Justin, Here is a few tyre repair hints:
    1. Cut your plugs in half.
    2. Once you push your plug in, rotate a quarter turn
    3. Cut off excessive plug once plugged.
Just a few hacks ive used in the bush.

Justin another great video. In 2012 I did a stint over in WA working for Gina Reinhardt managing teams of surveyors. We 4WDrove virgin bush, no tracks all day every day. Three vehicles, 6 spares between them. I use to average changing 2 tyres/day. Once we hit 3, we'd call it and turn tail and head home. I couldn't get caught out in the bush over night - SOP's for Gina. So, home we went! Sometimes we'd pick up a 4th extricating ourselves out off the tracks we'd made on the way home, but mostly we made it- stressful to say the least. They were all split rims so after a long day I then had to have a beer of course while breaking down the rims and inserting tubes in all the punctured tyres. Then after that I'd try and fix a few punctured tubes ready for the next day.
12-14 hour days - Lots of fun. 🤣

Very informative. I agree the Oodnadatta Track is a great outback drive.
We had perfect conditions in June 2013 and were the only 2WD car we saw on the Track in our 15 year old Citroen Xantia turbo 1.9 diesel with 120,000 kms.
The fabulous height adjustable hydropneumatic suspension with front wheel drive was probably the most comfortable way for Marree to William Creek, Oodnadatta, Coober Pedy in one day.
A fair bit on the track had been recently graded, there was just enough light rain to quell the dust, but too much on the short cut from Williams Creek as it closed that day.
Lake Eyre was full, and not many flies.. but we did not camp. Marree Hotel and then the Underground Motel. Fabulous. No punctures and 5.4 litres / 100 km diesel. Loved it.
I think the relatively light load and super compliant suspension and road grading contributed to the track being gentle on our Michelin road tyres..
Not somewhere I would attempt the Citroen party trick of driving on 3 wheels!!

Kidman also discovered the silver at Broken Hill and was a founding shareholder of BHP. He sold his stock in the company soon after as he had no interest in mining, He owned huge trackts of Australia at one time. Prolific Australian author Ion L Idiess was his stockhand for some time. Excellent author, highly recommended.

Nice country out that way I love it, Thanks for sharing, those springs have a little fish called the Desert Gobby a nice little colourful fish, I went for the ARB tyre repair kit less hassle then that one it has the tooling seperate so you don't have to change over with the key, I got it for the same price on special to, you should hit them up, you are lucky, I have used mine twice already and only had it a year.

Great video again. You are spoiling us. Hot tip. If you get a flat tyre but it holds air. Pump it up to say 60psi that way the car will be higher and you won’t need to jack the car up as higher.

Chop the end off your jack handle and weld a wheel nut onto it, then you can use your power wrench to raise and lower the truck, way faster mate.

When you plug a tyre, try rubber solution glue rather than lube, it works the same as lube but seals the tyre plug every time.

Givin' me goosebumps taking me back. Flew over Lake Eyre, lunched at William Creek, it used to be Australia's smallest town of 3. We dragged our boys all through that area, loved Coober Pedy, hope you tried Johnnies Pizza.

28:00 you can also use soap water to check any leakage. any presence of bubble is the indication of leakage. quick check as compared to an overnight wait

    • @63Arnast

You can also use dishwashing liquid putting the plugs in that way at you can see where any air is coming out as you continue to fix the hole.
