I would substitute ENVY for the word Jealousy in today's sermon. I know what you mean - it is a common misuse. Envy is wanting what someone else has ie coveting embedded in the desire. But jealousy is wanting to keep what rightfully belongs to you- you and your spouse covenanted a lifelong union and you are jealous of anyone or anything that inserts itself to break up that relationship. God Himself is described as jealous for the love and loyalty of his covenant people. If the word distinctiveness is not corrected, one would impune sin to God, which of course is incorrect. So keeping the two clearly distinct will help immensely.
