Hello nice catch. I watched this video a few times and then went down to barview jetty and tried my luck at poke poling and caught 3 monkey faced eels all about 2.5 feet in length. Great teaching video keep the videos coming
Great technique! We did well on black rockfish and greenling at cape disappointment north jetty. Have to try this for the eels! Thanks so much for a great vlog! New friends here!
Heard of fishing like this my entire life (48 years old) on the Oregon coast....gonna try it for sure! Mostly heard of catching Greenling, but the Monkeyface changes the game a bit!
Thank you for sharing a good video. One of my favorite states is Oregon. Usually head down once or twice a year to do surf fishing and crabbing. Not so lucky though, but hopefully heading down there once border opens up and head down from Vancouver, BC for sportfishing down there. Cheers!
Thanks for your support and kind words! Yah I hope the border will reopen soon, I go up to BC several times a year for great food and the great outdoor too. Cheers
Wow that looks fun! I fish there all the time and never saw that. Thanks for the tip. I have to go try that. I am wondering if PK knows of this?? Ha Ha I will have to ask him
in my humble opinion.. i believe eel to be the best sushi.. i have caught small eel in my crab traps.. but nothing of size.. ima watching this video intently
my mind is blown.. of all the years i spent fishing the rocks/jetties.. i have never seen that done.. that is fantastic.. an you tube giant id expect from you.. thatsa wow sir.. really good.
Monkey faced eel can live outside of water for hours. A humane thing to do is to hit it on the head, and cut gills to drain. Taste better this way as well. Also be careful with teeth as it can bite your finger off!
Thank you brother I caught a rockfish one time I didn't even know it was called a sea trout at that point crazy I let it go should have ate it would have been delicious unsure anyway yeah it sucks down at the South Umpqua and the Umpqua River Northern proper. Then get ahold of me you want to go fishing I'll show you where I don't know how to do it myself but I'd love to see you work let me know
