So I read a web page that says a Conestoga Wagon can haul 12000lbs basically 6 tons. Really!!!? I have a 3/4 Super Duty Ford 400 horse power & 1200 lbs of torque w/steel axles and a max payload of 3500lbs. A typical tandem car hauler trailer 6k lbs. So are they telling me a wood wagon with wood wheels pulled by two cows or special extinct horses could haul 6 tons through unpaved roads mud and boulders, in order to build all of the massive stone buildings pre 1900s pre auto/diesel era? Keep in mind when the ground is soft and you have a thin rail for a wheel it will slice through and down like butter the heavier the load is. I'd really love to see one of those wagons loaded with 6 tons of stone pulled by two ox through the mud. You put that together and I'll definitely watch, I'd even pay to see it live. Thanks
I just did the Conestoga wagon for CMAS (Colorado Measures of Academic Success, basically a state issued test that all kids need to do in Colorado) and felt like learning more. interesting!

I believe Studebaker started out in 1852 building these wagons.
Thank you for putting this on YT, I love all things history
