Thanks for these video's with the GM3 and nugget hunting in Oregon, too. I have a GM3 also that I have been using for about a year now, I have been pretty happy with it, and the nuggets I find. I do a lot of my hunting in western Oregon.
Thank You Jim for the ground balance set up advice. I just picked up an old Gold Master II 48 Khz VLF and it seams that set up is just about the same. In any case, it got me in the ball park and im out nugget shootin with it. Or any thing else!

These take patience's to ground balance something the modern detectors do lot better. I bought one of these new back the 1990's Arizona desert so mineralized bouncing this thing up and down constantly trying to balance it.

I sold mine to a friend in the late 90s he just passed on now I have it back again. I bought it in the 90s balancing was a nightmare I gave up on metal detecting. He went on by himself always ask if I wanted to go it was too frustrating for me. Dig and dig find a damm .22 round. I think he even found coins or relic hunting was lot easier. He went on to get a minelab and others I just don't have the patience for it. Maybe ill try it again good hobby for my wife and I were getting older in our 50's now and life is changing. Probably see older guys doing this sort of thing patience needed is easier when get older.
Hi jim I have a GM2 it was a gift but the coil is no good I think because when I ground balance turning the coarse it cuts out what coil would be suitable for my detector
The best coil would be like the one that came with your metal detector it came with an excentrik (speling?) Most coils now are DD. but the excentrik might be a little hard to find.
I have one of these my grandpa gave me. It's in good condition. I'm looking to sell it. Does anyone have a recommended starting price for this unit? Thanks!
I have 4 different camera's that I use. a JVC Everia, A cannon Optura XI, A Cannon Vixia HF20, A Sony Cyber Shot. Most of the time I use the Sony because it is mounted to my Hat and frees up my hands for digging.

The V-sat is the same as the GM3 except the V-sat has no boost mode.

would have been nice to see it being set up we coild see the coil but not the set up
There is not a lot of difference in the two. The main difference is the Boost.
That is why I like the GM3 over the GM2.

Hey there Jim, did you forget setting the Vsat for a reason,and position of the toggles for iron disc etc ??,, balancing over a hot rock??
