one of my favorite metal tracks of all time. the chaos of difficult times, rage that ensues, strength needed to go through it and the sense of uncompromising willpower required not to break - that's so well captured in this song.
Djent is pretty hard to learn .. i have been trying for a couple weeks... these guys are pros ... super technical picking and flawless techniques ... ill just keep going and practice some more till i get the main feeling of poly-rythmn. XD peace
Looking at this shows how far metal bass tones have come in slightly less than 10 years. The tone sounds dull and weak compared to modern tones despite Adam Swan's performance being flawless.
Also, how Browne was in Fellsilent with Acle, back then was one of the only bands going for a prog sound, along with Sikth. He's been doing this kind of stuff for a long time, kids need to do their homework.
The snare is a 14"x6.5" Brady Tasmanian Blackwood Stave drum, this recording kinda ended up sounding like ass though, but its got one of the nicest 'cracks' around, and its got such a wide range of articulations available, ghosts come out whisper quiet and such
lol.. vildhjarta is at the moment in my opinion the most unique metal band of this kind out there. I love monuments too but vildhjarta created the perfect masterpiece
Was just about to mention this. Sikth and Fellsilent were two of the main founders of "Djent". It's funny how everyone wants to call Aliases and Monuments trend followers.
the buildup to this track is so crazy yet when looking at it the guitar work is such simplicity. nothing greater than a killer track that you can relatively easily learn
lol didnt remember posting this. yep I can now say I got completely deceived by the absence of complex lead guitar and the small number of notes cuz actually making it sound good and figuring out the rythmics through the whole thing is a thing of nightmare.
Man, I love djent as much as the next person, and Gnosis is fucking beast mode. But for once, can't we all just stop bitching about wether or not Djent is a genre..and enjoy this beautiful play-through Monuments has blessed us with? I love you guys, and can't wait for you to travel on through to Vegas. Horns up boys! \m/
The snare sounded great dude. I guess im that kind of person that I like the way something sonds if its not in tune. Im weird like that. lol. If anything sounded off in this video, it was the hats. They were peaking out a looottt. This is amazing though. I love the music.
Goddamn, this is really good. Stumbled upon this be accident... greatest accident ever. So whats their deal? Are they unsigned? Couldnt find their stuff on itunes...
Featuring Cthulhu on bass...
O Rlyeh?

I chilled with Mike yesterday before The Algorithm played a show at a local pub. What a cool guy. :P
Ah, proper right hand technique. Bass players, pay attention, that's how it should look and sound.

There's videos on youtube of us playing this in September 2010, predating Masstaden by over a year.

Same guy.
He needs a lot more recognition.
Congrats on the discovery! They're signed to Century Media. Their album is out in Europe, but not in the States, at least until the 25th

One of the most underrated bands of 2012
love the periphery shirt
wow he's throwing taps in with his pick hand while picking the solo...mad skillz, love this band
The snare is a 14"x6.5" Brady Tasmanian Blackwood Stave drum, this recording kinda ended up sounding like ass though, but its got one of the nicest 'cracks' around, and its got such a wide range of articulations available, ghosts come out whisper quiet and such
Nice Periphery shirt :)

Periphery shirt, amazing!
I couldn't listen to this and not groove with it. Amazing track.
one day i'm gonna write down this groove... i'll come back to tell how long it took me
some say, he's still writing out down to this day
I have to know that snare model. Its friggen amazing.
John Browne is my new favorite guitarist fasho, dudes got me ready to drop my savings account on a Mayones
what amp/modeler or plugins are you using for this tone? its groovy
what double pedal has the drummer? a dw??
Does anybody happen to know what pickups the guitarist is using?
Periphery and Monuments have actually toured together, and John Browne filled in when Jake got injured.
2:58 till the end is amazing!! Such a sick as tune!
wicked sick
nice shirt mike!
Staring at the bass kicks is fun.
what tuning is this in?
love the quick pause at 0:39
lol.. vildhjarta is at the moment in my opinion the most unique metal band of this kind out there. I love monuments too but vildhjarta created the perfect masterpiece
are his beaters at different heights or is that just the camera angle? if so is there a reason for it?
Lovin Mike's Periphery shirt.
Was just about to mention this. Sikth and Fellsilent were two of the main founders of "Djent". It's funny how everyone wants to call Aliases and Monuments trend followers.
YESSSSSSS
That tone!
What is that stack? It sounds great.

furiousmat I was gonna say this is not easy by any means. The right hand work is pretty ridiculous.
furiousmat Yeah, there's nothing really simple about the guitar in this song at all haha.
If you think this is simple you either dont play guitar or you are some kind of guitar super genius..or you're a troll
Anybody know where I can find the bass tab for this song?
Some Serious skill here
drummer is epic!
that ending was sick
How's the bass player plucking - is he using a pick or using the side of his thumb to pluck? It doesn't look like he's slapping.

Does anyone happen to know the tuning this is played in?
That was fuq'n sweet! \m/
\m/Mayones\m/

Gnosis was finished two and a hafd years ago. Vild were sent the album long before theirs came out. :)

The only thing that I can do when I listen monuments it's laugh, they are fuckin awesome.
Anybody know where to find tabs for these guys?
Anyone knows what his ibby is?
Dat groove
FUcking skiiiillllllssssss and badass too omfg diggin the periphery shirt too
+MC slug why would there be a 'beef'?
+Liam Locklear
If there was beef, I don't think Browne would have filled in on guitar for Periphery and Mike on drums for them.
+Ash Deowram I think it's just because Chris Barretto
+MC slug
Would he have sung with Periphery in NY if there was beef?
These guys know tone.
dat groove...
anyone know the tuning?
i think i would agree with that. yea i definitely agree.
coz its a playthrough?
thanks. The lighting made it hard to see his index finger clutching the pick.
Fucking amazing.
Fuckin' great !
Master of Downstroke picking :D
Nice Metalcore!
this song is so fucking interesting love it

Henry Hawker at least most of it. I believe the whole thing is but I could be wrong
PERIPHERY
Great left-hand technique
Did you get it already? :D
Goddamn, this is really good. Stumbled upon this be accident... greatest accident ever. So whats their deal? Are they unsigned? Couldnt find their stuff on itunes...
