- President Cyril Ramaphosa has condemned the DA's controversial elections advert and described it as treasonous. He says it is totally unacceptable, as it seeks to destroy the unity and the identity of South Africans. Ramaphosa was speaking during the official launch of the newly built Home Affairs office and one hundred mobile trucks offices in Mokopane, Limpopo.

The way people are talking about this flag instead of trying to understand the symbolism behind it and YET I live in Pietermaritzburg and witnessed the mass looting and destruction of shopping centres and businesses in July 2021 while the police and the ANC did NOTHING!!! I know people who lost their jobs and businesses because of this! I didn't hear such an outcry over that. Unfortunately people are far more concerned about silly, trivial issues, instead of REAL issues that affect our daily lives and ability to survive!

Neither Steenhuisen, nor the DA, actually burnt the flag. It's symbolic of the country that could be totally destroyed by an ANC/EFF national government. Nobody is burning the flag. The DA is proud of the South African flag and wants to safeguard it, hence the reason the flag is shown as restored at the end of the advert. Please try to understand the symbolism of this advert - it's not a literal burning of the flag and people are really over reacting.
