    The group of life-size clay soldiers and other figures - commonly known as the "Terracotta Army" - discovered near Xi’an, China, are reported to total as many as 8,000 in number, although more conservative estimates place this figure somewhat lower (in the region of 6,000-8,000). Archaeologists have located 600 pits across a 22-sq-mile area since their accidental discovery in 1974. Figures excavated so far include soldiers, archers, horses, chariots, officials, musicians and acrobats.
    The army was originally produced under the instructions of Qin Shi Huangdi (who proclaimed himself first emperor of China in 221 BC), and was intended to accompany his funerary tomb. Mass-produced using moulds, each finished figure has a unique face. Some 40,000 bronze weapons - including battle axes, crossbows, arrowheads and spears - have also been recovered. Their sophisticated protective chrome plating means that these items remain well preserved after more than 2,000 years.

      Maybe they didn’t, there is evidence they were transported to the second dimension using the pigment han purple which the figures are all painted with, it is a very valuable and rare pigment so it’s strange they used it at all.

    Something very strange about these soldiers. They are all painted with a paint called han-purple. Which is the only pigment that can switch back and forth between the second and third dimension or something like that. What people suspect is these were real people that actually turned to stone and were transported to another dimension with the Han purple or something like that.

    If they were made of clay how could those statues survived till this day?

    • @leeminhyung167
      @leeminhyung167 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably a mix between the right material in the terra cotta and the type of soil it was buried it. It also probably helped that it got burned at one point, helping set the clay. Many other ancient clay artifacts have lasted due to these reasons outside of Asia.
      History has had this funny was of surviving. There was even a bible once found in an Irish bog, that survived because the acid in the mud was perfect to keep the leather and the skin from going bad.
